Shame on you for talking like this about a kid as if he has committed a heinous crime or is your agemate. @@positiveego5397 - Patrick, shame on YOU for trying to excuse poor behavior! How do you think adult malfeasance starts? How do you think adult criminals BECOME criminals? Do you think it just magically sprouts when they are adults? NO! It starts when they are children! It starts because parents like YOU excuse their behavior! Male children are just like female children in that they need guidance, discipline and a strong ethic instilled in them from a young age! *Do you see how the other kid ran his race WITHOUT doing the wrong thing?* THAT is the type of behavior kids need to be taught! HIS parents taught him right! I don't fault the kid as much as I do the PARENTS! Parents who don't correct their kids when they do wrong end up with juvenile delinquents and adult criminals! You better stop making excuses Patrick! If you don't, you'll be making excuses for your adult children's poor behavior for the rest of their lives! PARENTS make the difference and being a good parent requires DOING THE RIGHT THING and not excusing bad behavior!

He's super fast, he just needs more coaching and discipline so he doesnt try to sneak any more obvious elbows into his competitions. If anyone's ever had or worked with kids, you'd know that a 9 year old getting heated and trying to push another 9 year old normally isn't some jaw dropping thing. Yeah, he tried to cheat, and if he'd won, he'd have been penalized. He tried to win, but didn't. Still got an Olympic silver.

For those who don't know what happened: Terrell (green kid) tried to keep Cantu (flag kid) from passing by moving to the right side of his Lane. That's bad etiquette. Cantu passed him anyway by just going into the other lane. Terrell then elbowed Cantu, but Cantu was going so fast he wasn't prepared for the force of having his arm in front of a moving object, so he played up the flailing to make people think Cantu initiated the contact. Later, he retakes the lead (because Cantu let him pass properly by staying on his side of the lane like professionals do) and tries to do it again. He looked back, saw Cantu gaining, kicked it into high gear and tried to block Cantu by moving over into his way. Cantu wasn't falling for the same trick twice though, so he moved far enough away to avoid any doubt. This is a prime example of someone racing against others. You're supposed to race against yourself. Improving your time is the only thing you should care about, not what everybody else is doing. Terrell looked behind him no less than 5 times in this clip; sad. I hope they show this clip to young racers to prevent embarrassment like Terrell brought on himself.

Good summary. I saw all of what you were describing, including the fake flailing. Pretty easy case for him being DQ'd if someone wanted to make it. But I disagree with latter part of your message. You are indeed racing against others, esp in a longer race, where strategy is a key part of winning the race.

@Gus Longjohn If this kids were cars? REALLY! That's how you are going to analyze this video? As if they were cars? Have you not watched videos of track and field were they are running and stumbled upon each other and fall down? Running that close to each other in track and field is normal. What's NOT normal is to try to hold your adversary back with your elbow, something you can clearly see @ 0.17 sec.in the video. The fact that green hair kid started the hole thing is what im talking about, if the other kid did anything back to green hair kid AFTER the elbow I say it's ok. That's like me walking up to you and slapping you in the face and me not extpecting you to do something about it. It's very hard for me to understand people like you because even tho you have a video showing you what happened and you can slow it down and watch the video over and over before making a comment, you still say something that makes no sense at all. Thats why I'll leave you with this from Mark Twain...... No amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot. Mark Twain.

@@adamdodds144 Incorrect. The green-haired child deliberately ran wide and into the path of his opponent at 0:17-- he even freaking used his elbow to hit him, then he attempted to plow into his opponent, a second time, at the 0:42 mark and was only unable to make contact as the victor had learned from the previous pass and ran too wide and too fast for him to peg him. He's a nasty piece of work-- pathetically attempted to win by deliberately harming his opponent. He not only needed to be disqualified, but could use a paddling. As a young runner, if I had attempted what he did, my father would have made me regret it. Not only would he have declined the medal, he would have insisted I apologize and ensured my coach piled on a punishing schedule during training to exhaust the nasty out of me.

I hope he ponders his great luck, and learns this humbling lesson caught for prosperity to study and learn compassion. @@ihssaneou3117 no at the 0:17 mark you can clearly see the kid stick out his elbow to make contact and then over react when it got brushed aside (i missed the punch where was that at). at 0:44 he tried to be even more blatant by trying to cut off the kid again (if he focused on running fast instead of looking back and zig zagging to block he would have had a better chance at winning). It wasn't obvious at first as if not watching closely the green hair kid had that big reaction at the 0:20 mark but is very clear upon review a 2nd time.
