@@Consrignrant I think that there is a happy medium, to be had, between the two! I get it, designers want thin models so their clothing hangs on them, but I've seen plenty of models who are too thin! I believe the modeling industry needs to make a shift to using more buxom, curvy women in order to attract the most clientele possible!!!

There's a straightforward reason that explains your astute observation. At this point in his nearly faultless career, Thierry had tired of the Super Model Diva Child-Women (with a few exceptions, exhausting and never content) and he went to ACTING agencies and hired ACTRESSES. (Yeah, yeah, pronouns and gender references; how he would react to this preoccupation with nonsense, I can only imagine.) No one came close to his ingenuity without cannibalizing their own style. M. Mugler did it season after season.

Incredibly precise tailoring, strong feminine lines, perfect tolerances within the construction of these masterpieces, impeccable accentuation on the silhouettes, ingenious hat geometries, luscious fabric textures, brilliant colour pallet combinations. I can go on and on ...now THIS is true couture. So much of what we see in the couture collections of today are quite mundane, unimpressive and almost disappointing when compared to the talents and creations of the mid 90's. The designers of this period, specifically; Mugler, Galliano, Gaultier, Lagerfeld and Valentino - ALL are unequivocal geniuses of their craft, with creative visions that were ridiculously ahead of their time. Indeed, such inspiring and amazing talent!

Ugh SO GOOD! ❤️❤️❤️ This was back in the day when models had musicality and rhythm and DRAMA! I loved this era of haute couture! These models were SO THEATRICAL ❤️ nowadays models can’t even walk on tempo, they all slouch and look like they can’t be bothered… it’s a shame because that takes away from anything a designer puts on them.

Wow, the models bring such life to the catwalk. How do they change so easily into illustration-like poses with such grace?? The pieces as well are of course exceptional, but with models and art direction like this it makes me think of the lost potential current shows have, with their stilted, uncomfortable looking models

Maybe if it didn't cost more than most people's mortgages. When people save up that much money, the majority aren't buying a dress they can't really do much in without destroying it, they are buying a family car or saving for retirement or emergencies. Guts are low on the list, affordability and practicality are very high.
