Look at the way he is treated by the system and the rest of Israeli society, he is expelled from parliament, called a traitor and probably he needs security to avoid getting hurt or killed by Jewish extremists. This wasn't the case in Israel 30 years ago. The country is becoming slowly totalitarian and just as scary for dissenters as Arab countries, we're not there yet but if we keep ignoring the fact that this is the direction it's going, we will soon wake up one day and find ourselves already there.

As an Israeli, he is the one of the most sane and thoughtful people I've heard since the conflict began. How he is treated by my country makes me embarrassed. We keep saying we're a democracy but the backsliding is very real, some people here are commenting "well at least in Israel he's allowed to voice his objection" sorry but maybe 30 years ago yes, what's happening to him now is NOT "being allowed", he is probably going to lose his job and any political power he has, he is outcast and ostracised, he's probably risking violence to himself and his loved ones and if he has kids they will be bullied and called traitors. Is it better than on the Palestinian side where if you voice dissent you and your family are executed? Yes of course, but with every election we've been going a step closer to that, and if we keep shutting our eyes and focusing on how we're still "better than that" instead of looking at every small step we're taking towards it, soon enough we'll wake up and we're going to be exactly what we kept telling ourselves we're better than. In many ways we already are. This man is a hero for standing up for truth at enormous personal cost.

This war is a result of Hamas and complicity of Palestinians. All wars involve civilian death but this war it is Hamas the terrorists organisation controlling the civilian deaths of its own people using psychological warfare and radicalism that terrorist indoctrinate on their people from birth, hatred and death is ingrained in their ideology. This case will not impose a stop to the war it is a determination of whether or not there is genocide being inflicted on Palestinians.

The man or woman who stands apart from his or her own tribe and delivers to it some basic truths is indeed a leader and courageous individual. Not too many have emerged in recent years and those that have taken that course have suffered terribly for their beliefs. So unfair, a debate should be complied with a rule that insists on a pause of fighting during and while there is a discussion and debate on the matter of genocide. It assumes too much on the side of Israel by allowing the continuation of the situation as we wait on justice and the ICJ verdict which is open ended and some say it could take months. Months too late for everyone, civilians and hostages alike. The Israeli lawyers would take a different approach if the above was in fact what everyone wished on.

I find it very odd to see Democracy Now, The Young Turks, Majority Report et cetera going down this road now. Given the aforementioned parties' previous stances on several issues over the past years, it almost *only* makes sense if this stance is somehow green-lit by the establishment, or if some other motivations of a... I'll say "principle-free"... nature are actually driving this apparent "change of heart", one might almost call it. What are your thoughts on that?
