I greatly admire and respect Nelson Mandela... I really do. But, he too (like many around the world) missed one critically important factor while feeling empathy for Palestinians - Their ingrained "hatred" for Jews! A hatred so strong that they want them exterminated!!! 😳(There is a very long history there as well.) And, I think, this is why the South Africans may not win their case... But, yes, it is nevertheless a risky move by the Israelis to challenge the case. We shall see what happens. P.S. I could be wrong, but I was thinking that it might be Russia that is influencing South Africa to launch that ICJ case... Basically to harass the U.S.? It's possible, no? Hope that answers your question... Sort of? I mean, there is a larger conflict being waged, behind the curtains, by two major superpowers... And, there is always a chance it could escalate.

The ICC is different to the ICJ. The ICC has a very dubious dislike for pursuing any western leaders. The ICC is broadly considered without credibility by most of the world outside “The West”. That is why South Africa is suing Israel via the ICJ, as unlike the ICC where rogue nations have not signed up most are signed up to the ICJ and its conventions. The USA even threatened The Netherlands with force should the ICC ever pursue an American leader.

I love seeing how the minority white South Africans differ from the black majority views. As South Africans we certainly take the fight against apartheid seriously

Think the electric issue is the worst.. if you are looking primarily on infrastructure. But even if you have trouble at home, it shouldn't be a pass for others outside to massacre a nation. As a South African, you should understand, what it feels like to be under the boot of military firepower.. But it depends on which side you were on back then. The world court’s precedents allowed any country to report acts of genocide even if that country have no relations with the conflict. Let’s be enightend. The Bible is a religious argument, not a lawful argument. The Bible is not the Word of God. These books, including the Torah, were written by and for the jews themselves. The difference in the case of Palestine today, is declared war, but the excuse for war has the same dark sinister motives and agenda as apartheid in South Africa. Men and nations want their share of loot from destruction of victims and seizure of their property. If all nations of the world apply what they claim as recognizable divine moral laws and criminal laws which were created by civilized people, then chances of success by “SCOUNDRELS” (term used by South Africa’s Foreign Minister in the Gaza case- INDIVIDUALS AND NATIONS-) might be significantly reduced. It is cases like these that both reveal and affirm the difference between what so-called civilized people claim to believe and what they really believe. And when their Messiah-Jesus Christ of the gospels was sent by God to shepherded and restore them 2000 years ago, because they didn’t recognized and accepted Him, He clearly said to them “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! See, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Matthews 23:37-39 And as the fulfillment of Christ’s prophecy the Jewish nation have been driven out of the land by Roman Empire since 70 AD never were able to return to that land till 1948. What I would like you Ms. Palki, and the whole world (most specifically the South African and the UN members) to know and with absolute certainty understand is, after such very long time why this nation came back to their land? And who is this God of the Jewish nation who has orchestrated all these?! For their return to the land of Israel is not by chance or a human desire and decision making. No. in fact, this is the works of their very God who gave them the land as an everlasting inheritance; for He Himself has promised them that although He cause them to be scattered all over the world and they live a miserable life because of the mistreatment of the nations, but in in the book of Jeremiah chapter 30 from verse 4 through chapter 31 verse 1 to the end, and in Zechariah chapter 13 and chapter 14, He clearly has promised as He will gather them back once again and re-establish them forevermore after that! I would like to late everyone know that this God is the very same God who destroyed the entire rebellious human being by flood and saved the righteous families of Noah to give the whole earth to him and his descendants! The Bible clearly says and warns that, it is not His will for anyone to perish by going to hell or to be tormented by great catastrophic that he will allow to come unless people repent and leave alone His chosen nation. It’s quite simple. South Africa brings a particular context to the case. As a former Apartheid state, South Africa has relevant standing and recent reference wrt settler oppression and state violence. It only takes one country to level a charge at the ICJ and you can rest assured that South Africa would have canvassed widely for support before taking this step.

Comparing apartheid in South Africa to situation in Israel is just buying into a narrative that is little backed with facts and complexity of the situation. Each and every move by Israel to stiffen Israel's border controls with Gaza and and separation of Israeli and Palestinian populations in West Bank was preceded with fatal violent incidents (violent riots, shooting, stabbings and suicide bombing attacks). On the other hand, the Arab Israeli citizens enjoy full rights in Israel. So, the narrative is just that - a narrative in a language that is designed to simplistically move the masses without real facts and complexities.

As an African,i don't like what South Africa's government is doing. They should worry about Hamas, a terrorist group pretending to be freedom fighters. Hamas wants to spread jihad, and it's bad that South Africa didn't speak out against the killing of an innocent Tanzanian boy by Hamas in Israel. Hamas is usually the one starting attacks, and I don't like what the South African government is doing andTheyare moving in the wrong direction.

If this is the case, then what is the point forming ICJ in the first place? International Court of Justice is then meaningless since if they gave their verdict, no one will follow, is better they dissolve it or call it something else.

So before helping any country in the world, a country should be perfect and problem free? In that case no country should have took any action against south africa’s apartheid which wasn’t even nearly as bad as what’s happening in palestine - a genocide grounded in apartheid laws

1.Bashir was not arrested in SA in protest of the bias of the court which seems only interested in trying and jailing Africans. 2.President Putin agreed not to attend the BRICS Summit in SA in order yo protect us from these Western imperialists who only respect internet law when it suits them. 3.Arab nations have the potential but are in no way close to the investment we get from these Western imperialist countries. 4.So at the end of the day we juggle different interests in how we deal with international issues.

We are hypocrite maybe as the presenter says but we made the point that we too can not be dictated by the same ppl who designed UN and yet fail to obey its rules. We cannot be blind followers of law created to suit US and West ego. Anyway UN offices are in NY yet and already US has rubbished our submission as meritless. That shows that the world SA navigates cannot be trusted and we want to expose how hypocrite so called democratic countries are. So SA is testing waters and wants to see if the is a value left in these bodies.

Another more local reason, Palki, is that a very strong FREE PALISTINE stance will curry favour with many citizens in the Western Cape province (the only province not run by Ramaphosa's ANC) who are Muslim and have strong FREE PALISTINE sentiments. The Muslim population of the Western Cape is quite large, and it could swing sentiment in the election, taking votes away from the ruling party of the Western Cape, the Democratic Alliance (South Africa's leading opposition party with support from South Africa's Jewish community). The Western Cape province is by far the best-run province with frequent clean bills of health in their audit reports, whereas ANC provinces and municipalities score low on their audit reports, showing signs of corruption and poor service delivery. However, it's a dilemma as many black South Africans identify with the two biggest religious movements in South Africa which are a blend of Afro-Judeo-Christian values and traditions (that being the Shembe religion of Kwa-Zulu Natal and the ZCC religion of Limpopo--each with around 6 million members respectively. ZCC literally stands for Zion Christian Church...) This is a very relevant point as there will be general elections in South Africa this year.

Interesting point. The western Cape is the best run province. But the bar isnt that high. Which is why only rich areas are well run and every other areas is in the gutter. The DA just supports rich people.

I'm no expert in this area, but I believe I may have heard Helen Zille commenting on this issue saying that many impoverished South Africans are flocking to the Western Cape as the WC's poor areas are still better than other places in the country (and of course the oppurtunities too) and that as the numbers increase, the Western Cape government is "trying hard" to provide basic services to all its people, even the new citizens... that's their stance anyway... South Africa remains a difficult society inwhich to live, as the poverty is stark, glaring and troubling...(I personally believe it is everyone's problem...I don't know how people can "flash the cash" when so many don't have even the most basic of housing)...

What if the court orders Israel to end the war, and then Hamas attacks again?

Besides Africa should also sue South Africa for genocide(xenophobia ) on African people in South Africa. Zimbabweans should be allowed to reside in South Africa and stop genocidal attacks on Zimbabweans and other African Nationals.
