Incredibly impressed that you can just tear the screen off like that, reattach it later and everything's just fine. It's actually more durable than it looks.
Those stickers you removed are not for waterproofing like you said, the holes there were made to mount the parts easier on to the phones chassis. Kind of like hanging a price of metal and painting the whole thing without actually touching it and leaving a trace of where it's been touched. The holes make assembly easier for Samsung and the stickers are just there to make it look a little bit nicer but still removable if need be

I always love it when, after full assembly is done, there are still some spare parts left over. Really though, Zack, nice job on not destroying the main soft display screen.
I have a Z Flip 3. The screen protector started lifting about 6 months ago, and by 3 months ago, it was completely lifted in the folded section of the screen, so I just removed it. Been a few months now, no issues whatsoever. I think the reason they tell you not to remove it is because the adhesive is probably strong enough to lift the screen and crack it if one is not careful enough when removing it.

super video, great work Samsung
Finally its here! Was eagerly waiting for this.
It's interesting to see exactly how the hinge on my flip 4 failed. From this teardown I can see exactly what happened. The little channel "gears" on the right side of the phone (when the screen is facing you) got knocked out of alignment, and the bottom one, whish is where the failure snapped it off, began to slide forward, going through the graphite tape just enough to puncture the back of the flexible screen directly on top of where it is supposed to be laying down, destroying the pixels there and creating an open circuit for the entire line of pixels in a cross guard section leading away from the initial damage. Before I did some minor surgery to wiggle the gear back away from the screen, I could both feel and see something jutting out of the screen and causing it to bulge, though I wasn't sure exactly what it was, besides probably part of the hinge. Now I know the exact shape by connecting the dots between what it felt like and what it looks like.
@raphtorres
3 ай бұрын
Same thing happened on my Flip4, the hinge failed causing it to snag when opening and closing, you could always hear a clicking sound, consequently after that the screen around the hinge area turned black and then completely off. Phone works still as it shows on the small front screen but not main screen. Guarantee on these phones is really hit and miss with Samsung as they look for any small scratch or mark on phone to attribute it to the cause. Buyer beware! I'm still in contract for another 9 months paying for a dead phone.
you are one of the primary reasons why phone companies are gradually making their units a bit more military-grade in durability.. they are so angry of you for rigging everything that they improve every new release of versions.. Thanks, Jerry!

@j.ballsdeep420

What'd you mean? You can replace it yourself or if you want to ensure water resistance is in-tact (unlike any other battery powered device) then take it to an authorized repair center as they have the proprietary tools to ensure the entegrity is restored with testing after the repair is completed. Last I checked most ASCs charge $100 or less USD including labor for this, or buy the battery yourself and simply reuse the old adhesives --won't be water tight but neither are most every other battery power device that can be changed out simple

@timlaunyc

The closing issue is from the bend test, 9 min mark of the durability video. He also mentioned it in this video.
I bet the hinge just popped out of place a little bit in the bend test. And it has just enough force to keep the magnets from holding it closed. But crazy it survived. Though I think it more has to do with Jerry's experience with folding phones now as to before than the actual phone itself. Though Samsung does ALWAYS do an amazing job with durability...
