HUGE thanks to Moxtec for letting me borrow their XRF Scanner. If you ever want to build a rover to analyze other planets - check them out: www.moxtek.com/ and massive thanks to @NFTI for letting me borrow his forge so we can separate the plastic, aluminum, and Titanium of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
I'm a big fan of Titanium smartphones, its a super cool metal. And I'm glad to see that both Samsung, and Apple are using the real stuff. Even if it is different grades of the Titanium material.
Samsung is using Grade 2 Titanium, and Apple is using Grade 5 Titanium.

Grade 2 is all titanium. Grade 5 is an alloy that also includes aluminum and vanadium (6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, which is why it's also referred to as Ti 6Al-4V). Grade 5 is harder; expect to see Grade 5 in higher-end manufacturing, while lower-priced options might use Grade 2.

Probably does. However bette maintainability and parts availability would make that redundant, e.g. you just replace the screen in 5 minutes for cheap (first party FP4 screen is £70, samsung could get their better screens down to likely half the cost given the much larger scale) if you happen to break it instead of the phone being super expensive in the first place as an attempt to make the screen less likely to break.

Also, Apple, across all of its advertisements (including mobile phone provider ads), was advertising the alloy as just titanium. (Implying that it's pure titanium and not an alloy) Every iPhone trade in/upgrade ad: "titanium iPhone" (paraphrased) It would have been nice if those ads, instead of using (pure) titanium as an advertising gimmick, when the frame is an alloy with two other metals, said it is a titanium alloy iPhone. I know it doesn't sound as trendy, but it's the truth. I feel like if you're running a company and you say you're going to deliver a phone with a frame of a particular metal, especially if you're advertising it as a pure metal, deliver it. I feel like Samsung actually delivered on the titanium they announced.

I would argure that the way Samsung puts theese together is better because: the outer layer of the phone is titanium protecting the phone from scratches and dents, but in cae of an inpact, because titanium doesn't bend easily, the energy is transfered into the plastic witch absorbs the energy before it reatches the rest of the phone while with the iphone, all the energy goes straight trough the titanium into the glass behind it.
