This was a great topic. I was so surprised how the students are controled by fear of failing in life.

As a contrast I went to a private high school in the US. I had class 6 days a week and had mandatory sports Monday through Friday 3:30 to 5:00 and mandatory study hall unless you had a 3.66 GPA or higher.

As a 29 y/o korean, I enjoyed the video, but I don't agree with that this korean social atmosphere is "the problem". Since Japanese-occupation and korean war, many elder koreans very shocked for national weakness. (Even my grandma was born in Japanese-occupation, she is alomost 98 y/o, yes me and my parents are late baby 😂) So they started dedication for national development with a sense of duty for our descendants. And we grew up watching it. And as their children, we are impressed and want our descendants to inherit a better country and environment too. This is kinda our legacy, so koreans work and study hard to repay the ancestors, and also want to pass it on. In Gangnam, where I lived, I spent more than 3 million won ($3,000 USD) per month on my own education alone. (And it's less than average....) At the same time, my parents didn't even spend their money well. They made sacrifices for us. Of course, Korea has already grown enough to not have to do that anymore. So, I agree with it is necessary to improve the education system along with the improvement of the social atmosphere. But on the other hand, I don't think that social atmosphere is fundamentally a problem. Because it made Korea what it is today. Thanks for reading my comment to the end. Again, I enjoyed the video!
