It's the opposite actually. I have almost perfect skin-never had pimples type of skin. Which is why I never had a routine. Didn't even moisturize enough which started to become a slight problem around 30. Moreover, now that I do have a routine, I can never tell what products work and what don't. Because my skin never reacts adversely and I don't wanna use them for months till they do fuck my skin up. So I stopped trying products and the only 'fancy' thing I use are natural facemasks. Like literal dried leaves kind of stuff mum put on my face as a kid. Though recently, sunspots have emerged. It's going to be fun trying new things for that!

I have had my 12 year old on a skin care routine since she was 9. I started with acne around that age and she was starting to show signs. She loved the idea about having a routine like mommy. I started her on a simple one. Cleanser is the vanicream gentle cleanser, and oat so simple face cream and then SPF. That’s for the AM. And at night she uses cerave SA because it’s gentle and helps her oily skin so much. Then again oat so simple at night. She’s got beautiful skin. Less is more for the little ones.

What Cassandra said about sleeping with that salicylic acid thing on, so relatable... I mean, how many of us overused a product or did something stupid (in hindsight) when we were younger, hoping for a miracle, for a speedy magical result, or piled something thickly to cover up everything. I'm 36 and my mother did not allow me to wear any makeup, so just imagine my suffering... Well, I had this prescription antibiotic that was like a thick white paste, and I would use that like it was foundation hoping it would cover the worst of it... An antibiotic, yikes... And I went out looking like a ghost, but I thought it was still better than my bare face. Oh the memories... the pain was real.

I believe that sometimes you can take caring too far, like leave your skin alone for a while and see if it gets better. I had eczema on my arms and I used to put all kinds of creams that were recommended to me on it in hopes that it would go away but things ended up getting worse. Finally I put everything down and just left my skin alone (except for taking showers of course) and it actually cleared up after a few weeks.

Just a little thing: There is actually a long-term study (LINA by the German research centre Helmholtz-Zentrum) that involved pregnant women who used various paraben-containing products during pregnancy. The butylparaben seemed to have led to epigenetic changes in their infants, which then led to a lower sense of satiety and excess weight (compared to babies whose mothers didn't use products containing parabens during pregnancy). This correlation was also found in studies with mice and their offspring. So parabens in cosmetic products are probably fine for grown ups in general, but pregnant women should probably steer clear.

Even the thought of having a responsibility as you get older needs teaching, If you don't know what other people are doing then how would you know to do it yourself. Humans don't just "figure things out" we either see, hear, or are taught. I love the acceptance of this channel because people tend to treat not knowing as this horrible thing when really it shouldn't be.

The video seems fine and I don’t know why it would have been deleted. But more importantly, I was struck by why you would go through all this trouble to dig up a deleted video, but you wouldn’t put the time into researching a company like The Body Shop. To my knowledge it has NEVER been an MLM (not that being an MLM company is bad anyway. Some MLM,s are scams, but not all). The Body Shop was founded by Anita Roddick in the UK in 1976. She started the company to help support herself and her children while her husband was abroad. She helped pioneer the concepts of sustainability in cosmetics through refillable packaging, use of natural ingredients, responsible sourcing of ingredients, fair trade and NO ANIMAL TESTING! The company got bought by L’Oreal in 2007 and then by Natura & Co in 2016 and still maintain the same values that Anita Roddick implemented in the beginning ( minus the refillable packaging). No, their ingredients might not be considered “clean” ( I don’t really know as I’ve never analyzed them), but I don’t think they’re the worst either. To say that The Body Shop was at any time an MLM company is inaccurate and disrespectful to the woman who not only founded the company, but was also an activist who was responsible for starting a movement for social and ethical change in the cosmetic industry.

I think I need to call my mom up and thank her for teaching me life and practical skills. I knew how to care for home, laundry, minor maintainance, and yard before I moved out on my own. :) I recently found your videos on Facebook and came to KZread for the full experience. Thank you for being awesome!

At first I was like “oh, look at the lovely glow this girl has on her skin!” Then I thought, “maybe that’s not a glow; maybe that’s the shine I associate with overly processed fragile skin that has a tight shiny look!”. Her skin looks lovely and dewy. Also, and this may be the nurse in me channeling my hospital days; but I get grossed out with nails that long; I go down a rabbit hole of entertaining the type of bacteria and fecal matter and other nasties under those nails that cannot be washed out 🤢😵

My mom ONLY "routine" was Estee Lauder face cleanser and Johnson & Johnson baby lotion as a moisturizer. Her skin was perfect! I used baby shampoo as my cleanser and baby lotion like a makeup remover (worked amazing) I'm 39 now and since like only a year or 2 use REAL skin care and only since 2 months retinol. True story

I stopped sleeping in my make up when I was around 13. I started to wear mascara, maybe some base and eyeshadows and I just didnt take it off for the night. And my dad told me that my eyelashes would fall off if I continued to leave the mascara on. So from that point I had always washed off the make up and later Ive leraned how important it is for the skin. So thanks dad!

For those interested, Weleda Skin Food isn't vegan because it contains Lanolin and Beeswax. Those two ingredients have been used as reliable skincare and medical ingredients for so long, and have been studied, that's why they are still in things. Just because a product is vegan, does not mean it's cruelty free.

She’s using a skin filter. It’s not terribly strong. But it’s there. That’s probably why they took it down. Before you argue with me, notice the spots she shows close up around 16:45 are completely blurred, but very slightly discolored, when she’s farther away from the camera. Also, the mole above her collarbone disappears occasionally. Those are dead giveaways there’s a filter in use

My grandmother made sure I knew how to do my taxes, balance a business book for quarterly tax preparations, but, and this is huge, never taught me about skin care or what I should do when I had my menstruation. My mom was always working, so my grandma was a big part of my life. My aunt had to teach me what to do, and proactive was my best buddy. She also taught me the difference in tampons versus pads and the food and bad of each. I can’t thank my aunt enough.
