Oh this darn old camera 😢 I’m so new at KZread and I will definitely invest in better equipment soon. I wasn’t sure if people would watch. I actually hired a team for my first two videos. It’s so costly though and I can certainly film more often if I do it myself. I appreciate your comment and promise I’ll get there 🤗

Alexis (Lexi to her friends) was a wonderful, kind person who I had the privilege of working with many years ago and becoming friends with. Before she passed, she only told her close circle that she had cancer, because she was afraid that it would harm her career and image in Hollywood. It's wonderful to see you giving artists like Alexis Vogel the respect they deserve Erin. I grew up in the 90s and the mysogyny that tarnished the narritive around this type of look and the wonderful sensual entertainers, like Miss Anderson, who wore them, was a real disservice to their artistry and creativity. Thank you for continuing to shine light on these incredible talents, you're doing God's work ❤

My brows never recovered from the 90s. I graduated high school in 1997, when the 'skinny little Pam brow' was at its most popular...in my junior year picture, I was definitely channeling 'Mad Love'-era Drew Barrymore, complete with the badass-but-also-actually-bad-diy-bleached-pixie.

@@erinparsonsmakeup 1. Thank you for being so transparent about having what many would consider a strictly aesthetic procedure. What some people maybe don't understand is that procedures like this are NOT just aesthetic--they affect your confidence and the way you see yourself, and therefore, the way you move and work in the world. 2. Your doctor is incredible at what she does (and you did a perfect job of drawing your shape on pre-op)! What painstaking work having to choose each individual hair and how and where to place it...wow. Your brows look REALLY GOOD, and I was happy to read that you love them. Personally, I think it's perfect that they are still 'sisters, not twins'. 3. I, too, loved Linda Evangelista and her iconic, pencil thin, penciled-in brows. I liked her best as a redhead, but the image of her that always sticks with me is of her with a short, dark brunette pageboy on the September 1993 cover of Harper's Bazaar, simply because her brows were SO full in that shot compared to how she usually wore them. 4. I need to ask, because if I were you and I had the time, I'd totally do this at least once: when your brows start getting long, have you ever fought the urge to trim them and just let them grow for awhile? If so, did you ever style them?! I'm imagining some Botticelli-esque spiral curls, or perhaps a Stacey Q-style micro crimp. Wild! Thanks for engaging so often with your fans and followers--what a classy broad 😉

In 1999 I was a fashion student at FIDM. I would do all my friends makeup before we’d go out on the Sunset strip and they were all like why tf aren’t you a makeup artist? So in 2000, I moved back to Utah and majored in theater with an emphasis in stage makeup design. After that I went back to LA for an intensive media makeup artistry school where I started my book. I have had the pleasure of studying under 2 Emmy award winning makeup artists and several other prominent artists - even one who did makeup for porn and made bank lol, but no one ever lit a fire within me to become a kick ass makeup artist like Alexis. I mean I studied her technique like a savage because I wanted to look just like Pam. And I actually did. And so much of that was my make up application style. I became known for my playboy, playmate make up style and that’s what people and companies hired me to do for them. And honestly it’s what I still love doing most and it’s still my favorite style of make up to do because to me it is so classically beautiful. But maaaaan these techniques took me back! Those damn triangle sponges were everything! 😂 And yes I had the skinny brows too that never fully came back and I still do my lips that way too. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thank you for this beautiful tribute to Alexis. She was such a beautiful soul inside and out and truly a talented artist that revolutionized the game. 🎨❤

I really love this look. It's so strange not to use brushes to me now but at the time there really weren't brushes at the drugstore. If you lived somewhere without a mac, you could always get cheap triangle sponges in a bag. That's what I started out with, cake foundation, pressed powder and a powder puff. For eyeshadow I used the little sponge thing that came with it. I learned to do a smokey eye with a kohl pencil and a q-tip from a MUA at a salon. She sold me a single shimmer shadow and a single gun metal gray shadow. For lips I had a brown liner and a pink tinted gloss. Very minimal but that sexy pouty Bardot esque lip. I think it's wild they are still making this and that the quality holds up. Cake liner is an underappreciated product, I always think. It never dries up and gets too old to use.
