Yes, three lead vocalists. Peter Cetera (bass), Robert Lamb (keyboard) and Terry Kath (guitar). Each brought something distinct and powerful to the whole. And the harmonies...

All three had varying vocal tones, yet any two blended perfectly. Every Chicago team member was a master musician.
chicago never misses! "if you leave me now" "make me smile" "feelin' stronger every day" "dialogue pt 1 and 2" "hard to say i'm sorry" "you're the inspiration" "questions 67 and 68" ALL BANGERS

I would add free form guitar in there as well
We all need bands like that today , that has to be back!!!!!
My friend was at a concert at a college and Chicago was the opening band before the main event. She came back and told about this amazing band that no one heard of yet. She told me they were going to make it big time and to listen for music by the Chicago Transit Authority because they will blow me away. She was right!
Jimmy Pankow on cowbell!!… trombone player extraordinaire who also wrote many of their hits. All the horn players helped with percussion on this one. Thanks for doing this one SalvoG, and to Robert for requesting it.

I think Jimmy does everything with gusto. Such an entertaining performer! For me, one of the highlights of seeing them live.

They're the only band where the trombone player is the natural bandleader.
Steve Winwood was 16 yr old when he wrote this and was with The Spencer Davis Group
There's nothing like the early years of Chicago. Total 🔥🔥🔥
Chicago is one band that gives me the feels. :)
Chicago had a perfect blend of lead singers.
Yes, three great lead singers and they all play an instrument so well.
Written by the charismatic, multi talented Stevie Winwood in the mid 1960’s!
Chicago's discography is incredible. They are one of the best selling bands of all time. Songs you should check out: "Beginnings" "Saturday in the Park" "If You Leave Me Now" "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" "Feeling Stronger Everyday" "Make Me Smile" "Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is?" "You're the Inspiration" "Hard Habit to Break"

This is a great list! I'd say "Beginnings" or "Make Me Smile" would be a great choice for the next time! Then progress through the early-mid 70's sound.

The album with Saturday in the Park was astounding. I listened to it all day after day...;-)

Saturday in the Park may have been the best feel good hippy experience song of all time. Great memories❤️✌🏼
The recorded (not live) version is freaking amazing. You gotta check it out.
This was the encore piece and they killed it!
Terry Kath is simply remarkable and sadly missed
I've lost count how many times I've seen Chicago live and this song is always a highlight for me. I do prefer the Spencer Davis studio version over Chicago's studio version, but live, wow, Chicago rocks it!
When they pared down to the basic musicians, without their amazing horn section ( many of whom were their songwriters ) you could hear see why they functioned so well as a hard rock band at the same time as being one of the first rock/jazz fusion bands. They had serious chops in both camps.
Yes 3 lead singers but when Terry Kath was alive he was the first among equals...which is why he's in the center of the stage, center of the band.
Poem 58 is a must do! It's incredible!

All those songs you mentioned were great, especially question 67 and 68. Yes, all three were great singers and had hits as the lead singer.

Q67&68 is my favorite Chicago song!
You should really react to the original Spencer Davis Group recording of this song, too. Stevie Winwood was only 15 or 16 years old when he wrote and recorded both “I'm a Man” and “Gimme Some Lovin'” with SDG. Winwood was a musical prodigy much like an American counterpart, Stevie Wonder. Both Stevies were performing live before they were in their teens and recording soon after. Both went on to long and distinguished careers pushing the boundaries of popular music. Chicago's live cover does justice to the song, too. By the way, if you haven't already done so, you need to check out Stevie Wonder's work, too. Good ones to start with might be “Sir Duke,” “Superstition,” “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours,” or “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” Another favorite of mine is his ballad, “Overjoyed.”
Yes, you're right, three lead vocalists. Usually they each take separate turns with the songs. I'd suggest checking out the first song on their first album (Chicago Transit Authority) aptly titled Introduction. It's an incredible piece of music and a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the band. More Chicago please!
Yeah, welcome to the various rabbit holes of 70s Chicago and the guy who wrote this banger, Steve Winwood. Dude, there's so much music. So much!
CTA was the best live and recorded band during those early albums while Terry was alive! 3 man lead vocalists and all of them fantastic!

@Nighthawk Lucky you! That must have been something!
Early Chicago (CTA) was great. Their version of I’m a Man is the best. Everyone of their songs is a winner. Beginnings was my wedding song.
Obviously this whole concert is amazing you should check it out thanks for going deep with stuff that you're excited about looking forward for some more tull. Hopefully!!!
Chicago Transit Authority was a kick-ass debut DOUBLE LP. Their first three albums were all double LP, the fourth was a four LP box set recorded live at Carnegie Hall. Their seventh album was another double LP, following Chicago V and Chicago VI which were single LPs. On the debut album you MUST check out Introduction, sung by Terry Kath, and Poem 58, a 9 minute track of PURE FUNK with a mind blowing Terry Kath guitar track!
Truly one-of-a-kind band with amazing songwriting and performing talent. I'm so excited to be seeing them live in June.
Their backstory is INCREDIBLE!!
Check out the original by Steve Winwood (while he was in The Spencer Davis Group) when he was still a teenager. HIs voice is iconic. There's a good live version. Yes, Terry Kath is incredible. Make Me Smile is my favorite sung by him.
Yeah baby. What an awesome tune
The 3 guys off the the left are one of the best brass sections ev.
Definitely need to check out Make Me Smile and Colour My World with Terry Kath on lead vocals and Saturday in the Park and Beginnings with Robert Lamm.
Yes indeed, one of the best debut albums ever, part of the soudtrack of my high school years. The original band is dope! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎺🎷🎶
Yup. That's why people my age pretty much dismiss 90% of all bands of this century
As others have stated Dialogue Part 1 & 2 with Terry and Peter going back and forth
Damn Danny is killing it on drums ❤❤❤
Chicago definitely a great group, I love their first few albums, seen them in concert twice, the whole album is a masterpiece! Definitely listen to Dialogue Part 1 & 2 as one song
This song is the answer to the more cowbell question!❤
if you watch 25 or 6 to 4 again you will notice all 3 singing
Now imagine sitting 3 feet from the stage and have all thar thundering through you. I feel so damn lucky to have been born in the early 50's and in Chicago!!
They were/are all so talented. Tightest band I ever saw. I think it was Hendrix who said of the horn section, “three horns and one lung”. I also saw them perform this live. Their concerts were just so amazing.
In those early years of the late 60s and 70s, all three were more or less equally featured lead vocalists - in time, management would start to steer the band toward more ballads and feature Peter more which moved the band away from their earlier rock roots and Peter would eventually leave and go solo. This song is one of the few with no brass or woodwinds - all three of the horn players were on percussion here. The cowbell was trombonist, James Pankow.
Theres a documentary of them and his death was a great loss in rock and roll
You should see all the performances from this film.

Planning on beginnings from this as my nest request
Yep, real musicians, minimal electronics and what a jam! Try "Poem 58" and get even more Terry K blown away!
This whole concert was a beaut.
The band was originally called (well, not originally but once they signed a recording contract) "Chicago Transit Authority" but THE Chicago Transit Authority objected - strenuously - so they shortened their name.
This song and "Inside looking out " by Grand Funk Railroad....are the epitome of Jamin
My parents brought the Chicago Transit Authority album home when I was in 8th grade. We all listened and were blown away across generations!
I got a Fevah. And the only prescription is more COWBELL. I have to say the middle part where they go into said cowbell interlude reminds me of something out of Woodstock. Every guy really getting into it like a tribal dance. Very cool.
OMGGG Terry Kath WAS THEEE MAN!! You HAVE to look up his back story, it's Incredible what a MAN HE WAS!🎶♥️🎶♥️🎶
I saw them many times they were amazing
Definitely consider doing introduction. It’s the first song from their first album and sets the tone for what to expect from them
Early Chicago music. Hard to beat. Loved it!
Studio Color My World with Bobby Lamb on vocals and piano. Love your reactions!
Steve Winwood was in the Spencer Davis Group For fun, try "in the country " or south California purples"
Love early Chicago with Terry Kath shredding it!
The incomparable Terry Kath!
Just think.. I bought this when it came out (I was 14) and had the pleasure of seeing them live in Toronto on my 16th birthday. They were a staple of my music diet for at least 10 years. Terry was, and IMO the greatest guitarist of his generation. I noticed you like the rock and brass section combo, a band we (Canadians) enjoyed at the same time was Lighthouse. If you get a chance try their song One Fine Morning.

Here's another thumbs up for Lighthouse "One Fine Morning". Santana did a cover of that song, too, sans horns but really sweet.
My first concert was Chicago and the Beach Boys. in '73 , so 50 years ago and been a fan ever since.
Spencer Davis Band (with Steve Winwood of Traffic) did a great version of this. The Chicago 45 has the studio version on one side & this Live version on the other. The percussive intro is just stunning.
We all had this album -the 1st chicago!!! very popular played it a lot
If you want to hear Terry Kath rip it, you've gotta hit "Poem 58" next and then every other song from this album. Yeah, they're all that good.
This is the rock and roll Chicago with the late great Terry Kath.
I enjoy diving with you, I think Spencer Davis group is my favorite but Chicago is always good.
I them live...They were awesome, but years and years later
I got to see them live back in the 70's at Pine Knob outside of Detroit , they played for 3 hours. Amazing.
I tell you one day you have to check out that whole concert at Tanglewood it's just unbelievable
After Terry passed , they went to crap🤷🏻♂️ With Terry they were monsters! Great performance!😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

They were the best with Terry but they were NOT crap after he passed. They continued to put out great hits and several number ones and play for another 40 years after Kath died in 1978 and they sold MORE albums and had more number 1 hits after his death. They were not crap before or after Kaths death

@@scottboyd9383Totally agree,with you.
As I have said prior, these 7 singers are Chicago. Unbeatable.
I love this its nothing but a huge jam session 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Terry was the SOUL of Chicago ❤
It must've been a freaking trip to be in that live audience.
It was a hit when it came out 1967 by Spencer Davis Group and went to 10 on the hit charts
I have Never appreciated a cowbell more…Wowzers! BTW:: You were as charming as ever; thank 🎉!
Probably my favorite song because Terry sings it...♥️🎶
Yes SalvoG. 3 lead singers. Peter, Terry and Robert.
@SalviG I'm of a certain age, but have never heard this song by Chicago! Thank you sooo much for your reaction!
I was sitting in class at Culver City Junior High school in L.A 1969. The intro to this song comes over the p.a. system. After about 30 secs. a voice announces that either CTA or The Grassroots and the student body would vote for one or the other. Chicago won in a landslide. And no I didn't go. .
Make Me Smile will make your heart sing. It’s a must. Do the mastered recorded version to get the full experience.
Jimmy Hendrix was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitarist in the world. His reply was “I don’t know but I’ll ask Terry Kath next time I see him”.
I think that might have been Terry's backing vocals and Peter's mic wasn't working.
Terry Kath was only 24 when this was recorded. Amazing voice and fantastic guitarist.
Now you understand the SNL skit with Christopher Walken. "More cowbell!"
🤘❤️🤘❤️🤘❤️🤘💯 Greetings from Italy. 🇮🇹
Saw them in concert twice. groups just don't jam anymore. When the guys on stage are vibing it just sounds so good.
Best MF'ing cowbell you will EVER hear!!!! LOL This band was at it's peak back then. When Terry passed it would never be the same. Long live the original crew
Steve Winwood was all of 15 when he wrote this, and Chicago did a great rendition of it. Check out early Winwood with Spencer Davis Group doing this, GIMME SOME LOVIN' and NOBODY KNOWS YOU WHEN YOU'RE DOWN AND OUT. Steve was also with Traffic (DEAR MR. FANTASY and THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS), and solo in the '80s (ROLL WITH IT).
Other groups with 3 lead singers: Beatles, Three Dog Night
Listen to “Introduction” from the first album. First song.
Oh yeah by the way there is a great documentary on this guy it's called the Terry Kath experience maybe we can watch it on the channel.
God we were lucky to live back then to see them live.
You are looking at a music history document. And it's great.
Love Chicago such a dynamic.sound.I dare say, though, their drummer has the smalleat.kit I've ever seen it as literally is a starter set
So love this song ❤🥰
Here's what Jimi Hendrix said about Terry Kath, Chicago's guitar player. Like pretty much everyone who came to see the band perform, Hendrix was mesmerised by Kath's guitar playing, going so far as to claim that he thought the Chicago guitarist played six strings better than he did, naming Kath the “best guitarist in the universe”. High praise indeed.
Man I always knew Terrry Kath was a savant on guitar but he's got some PIPES! He sounds great singing! nice one
This was Chicago when they were real rockers. They slid into pop after Terry died in 1978.
Please do MAKE ME SMILE studio version Next !more TERRY KATH
