Being a native Chicagoan I absolutely love this! I was privileged to see them twice before Terry Kath's death!! Outstanding ladies!! Now we live outside of Houston and love listening to sounds of our youth!!

Yeah, after Terry died, the band really took a bad turn in another direction. CTA is the version of the band I like the best.

Written by the great Steve Winwood and performed by the Spencer Davis Group in 1967, when Winwood was still a teenager.

Nice version with a great solo! Still like original by the Spencer Davis Group mainly because I was around when it was released and holds memories for me. "I'm a Man" is a song written by Steve Winwood and record producer Jimmy Miller. It was first recorded in 1967 by the Spencer Davis Group; Winwood sang lead vocals and played keyboards. The song was a hit in the United Kingdom and the United States, reaching No. 9 and No. 10."

I was privileged to see Chicago with Terry Kath in concert on several occasions. This song is a cover of an older 60s version done by Steve Winwood when he was with Spencer Davis Group. You might enjoy checking that version out sometime. I started going to rock concerts in the late 60 and was also privileged to see Cream in 1967. I would love for you three ladies to do a reaction to "White Room," the live version from their 1968 farwell concert at Royal Albert Hall. Thank you very much. I love your show and your reactions.

@ballsyrocker I also played the bass for years during the 60s, 70s, and into the 80s, until my bad back that I had from a severe injury as an electrical lineman made me quit hauling those heavy speaker cabinets around. I do wish that I had kept my 1963 Fender Percision and my early 60s Gibson EBO.

There dudes were not only great musicians but great friends ! They were a band that stayed pretty much the same members for decades. I believe they put out at least 20 vinyl LPs. This song was on their very first viny album that had 2 records and opened like a book. It was called CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) when they started but were forced to change their name, thus "Chicago". I saw them live at St. Paul Riverfest (or Taste of Minnesota), back in 1988. Fantastic show with Arlo Guthrie & Pete Seeger. The short bass player is Peter Cetera whom sang most of their hits later. That lead guitarist , Terry Kath, was revered by many guitarists as the best. Sadly, he was goofing around with a gun at his grand parents cabin in Hayward ,Wisconsin area ( I was told by a Wisconsin neighbor) when it went off and killed him. The amazing drummer was Danny Seraphine sp?) while the horn players stayed with the group for decades. A few are still alive today and performing. Glad you enjoy them ,check out more of their amazing songs soon. Peace & Love.

The details you have on Terry Kath's death location are incorrect. Terry was attending a party at the home of one of the band's crewmembers, Don Johnson (not the actor, but someone of the same name) in Woodland Hills, California. Terry had two guns with him, a revolver and a Beretta semi-auto 9mm pistol. After the party ended, Terry started cleaning his guns and was screwing around, put the empty revolver to his head and pulled the trigger. Don told him to knock it off. Then Terry took the Beretta and racked the slide. He then took the magazine out of the pistol and showed it to Don before putting it to his head. Terry's last words were, "It's not loaded, see? What do you think I'm going to do, blow my brains out?" He then pulled the trigger, not realizing there was a round chambered. The Beretta did not have a safety disconnect that would have prevented firing without a magazine inserted. Terry died on January 23, 1978, just 46 years ago. He would have turned 32 just 8 days later had he not had his tragic accident. He was careless in handling firearms, it was not a suicide, nor "Russian Roulette", which uses a revolver.

This was originally done by The Spencer Davis Group that Steve Winwood was in back in the 1960's. They also did this song in England on a Show called The Beat Club that featured the cream of the crop of singers including The Bee Gees.

I believe this concert was at Tanglewood. Tanglewood is an outdoor concert hall in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. In the 1970's, they began to book rock bands there. There were some awesome performances on that stage. 🎸☮️☮️ I can confirm this concert was at TW in July of 1970.

"Awesome cowbell!" Well yeah, that too. It has been said that in music you can't have too much cowbell. And in life you can't have too much bacon. One of the major food groups. At this time Santana made percussion a major part of their music ( they had three drummers) and everybody tried to copy that. Chicago was the only band that came close. Danny Seraphine was a tireless and precise drummer. "This was recorded in 1972." "Also in 1970". Now I get it..Chicago were time travelers! Now it can be told! :)
