No autotune, no posturing, lecturing or intersectional bs. Imagine that! God I miss those days...these guys were a big part of my youth.
My favorite band ever!! Thank you! I love you and your comments!♥️🎶✝️
Terry was the best , he was lost way to soon, such an incredible guitarist.
I just went to my 50th high school reunion. Mixed feelings about getting old. Except from the 50’s 60’s and 70’s music we were blessed to grow up listening to! Still love Chicago but will always miss Terry!
As others have commented, the studio version is a must-listen. They do an extended percussion jam that is 🔥🔥🔥!
I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "Saturday In The Park", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Make Me Smile", "Questions 67 & 68", "Where Do We Go From Here?", "Free", "Lowdown", "Colour My World", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "If You Leave Me Now", "Old Days" etc.

I love this song. What a band! Great musicians all. Color My World was the greatest slow dance song at every dance and prom in the 70’s. We couldn’t get enough Chicago. 25 or 6 To Four, Saturday In The Park…so many. So awesome. Those were the days. 😁
📯🎼Magic🎼🎶 takes you to the early seventies... time travel🎶🎶
The sounds of my youth... thank you for bringing it and providing this great reaction.
No apologies...it is damn good music!! ❤😍
When I listen to early Chicago…well, they Make Me Smile!😀
Terry Kath passed when he was 27 so I'm guessing most of these guys were probably mid to late 20's for ages. Never the same after Terry but still love them all!
One thing I like about your reaction videos is that you do a little research before the reaction. For example, I've seen that famous Heart tribute to Led Zeppelin (Stairway to Heaven) a bunch of times. Some have no idea who the band members are, who Heart is, or that the camera kept showing the remaining band members on the balcony. Your pre-reaction research is great.
Yes Yes Yes CHICAGO !! seen them 2x they once played in Chicago stadium with the Beach Boys for seven days straight to sold out concerts awesome. Love Terry Kath ! RIP
Leonid (Lee.Oh. Nid) & Friends are now touring the US. They are amazing & pay great tribute to Chicago & other 70s bands. Their version of this will make your jaw drop.

SalvoG - I would suggest that when you listen to an original Chicago song that you follow it up with the Leonid & Friends version (if they have covered it). Here is the link to their version of Beginnings - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZ-Fk86lqrPPcpc.html

@@akadros310, I would love to see them live, but there are few venues near me. So far, the closest has been Columbus, OH. But that is still a 2-hour drive each way. I should've tried the recent Dayton, OH stop & stayed with family near there. It has been decades since I've seen a live band.
Leonid & Friends is a russian cover band. The work they do with Chicago songs is top notch and well worth listening to.
Try the Carnegie Hall live album. "South California Purple's" ...more of blues Rocker! Terry Kath gets to stretch out. "Color my world" is part of a 15 minute suite that contains 2 singles: "Make me smile " and "Color my World"-(the ultimate prom slow dance) under the title: "Ballad for a girl in Buchanan!"
I actually prefer the studio version of this, but dude! Check out "25 Or 6 To 4" from this same concert. I've watched it maybe a hundred times and it never gets old! RIP Terry Kath. Chicago was never the same without you
The talent in the 60s and 70s were outstanding! The greatest generation of WWII created the greatest musicians ever. Just wow!
Chicago is a stellar group
Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. The long horns and rhythm outro in the studio recording is phenomenal.
You really need to hear the entire album CTA. This is their premier album.
1969 in Chicago! This song by Chicago "Beginnings" was played on the R&B soul stations!!! They are an awesome band and still are!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Love their live TANGLEWOOD set, but in this instance, I strongly suggest you follow up with the studio version. Different ending, and the horns sound even better…the vocals are more forward in the mix. Everything pops.

This song is a Music Teachers dream so much to tell about how great musicians play together
I met Chicago when they were in their early twenties playing a gig at San Bernardino Valley College. My friend was the dj at the college radio station - they were very shy, down-to-earth and humble. We had never heard anything like them before - the horns blew us all away. BTW, Leonid & Friends, which Salvo mentioned, is an amazing band. Their covers of Chicago songs are unbelievably good.
Now you can see why they became the supergroup and changed and inspired musicians to this day.
I became a huge fan when I was in high school in the 70's. I'll be seeing them in concert in mid-June and can't wait. This is one of my Top 10 songs of all time. Even when he played just rhythm guitar, Kath put all of himself into it.

They are still touring , look up the dates. They always bring it, even today
The album versions of their songs are worth listening to before the live versions!
I got to see them twice at Pine Knob outside of Detroit back in the 70's . I'm old now so I don't remember a whole lot, but it was good. Lol
I was at that concert and many others. There was only one Chicago and Terry Kath was my hero and I cried when he died. I saw them live three times with Terry and three without. they are performing here in early fall. So the first time I saw them I was 18 and I’m 71 now and still listening and loving them.

Wow! I would have loved to watch Terry Kath play live, just once. You’re a very lucky man.
Leonid and friends have a bunch of Chicago covers on YT. Some songs, you can't even tell that it isn't actually Chicago. Great stuff.
Back in the mid 70s, they closed their shows with this favorite. Reassuring the fans of the bands return and continued release of great music. I was 19 in '75 and saw them in OKC.
They were in their early to mid 20s when this was done. Amazing that they were just kids.
Please continue with more Chicago because they are an incredible band. If you like this kind of sound, you may also like Blood, Sweat and Tears ("Spinning Wheel") and a much lesser known band called Chase. Chase is not well known partly because Bill Chase and some other band members died early in the band's career, but the horn section (Bill Chase played trumpet) is incredible. Sorry to add more groups to your ever growing list, but if you like this sound, you may want to consider the expansion into Blood, Swear and Tears, and Chase.

I was 3 miles away from Tanglewood and couldn't go. I was 11, knew they were there. Parents had me on lockdown to keep me from going. I still have the Album they bought to make up for me missing the concert, they also wouldn't let me to to Woodstock either. What a couple of buzz kill parents are.. love your reactions
Chicago, live, same concert, "Make Me Smile." 👍
Love Chicago in the Terry Kath era...
My favorite Chicago song!💗
Chicago puts a smile on my face.
Great music!
These guys--- at that time were so special. I grew up in Chicago and in my senior year 1978 we lost Terry and it felt like a death in the family. But you found gold here in this live version. You are spot on about their comraderie and being purely collective in their musicianship. It shows how talented and confident each guy was --that none gave into trying to outshine the others. Unusual for a 7 member band of guys in their 20's. I miss those days.
I was 5 or 6 in 1970 and at that age I never "listened" to any of these songs but I grew up w these songs in the background as my Mom usually had the radio on in the house and in the car. So when I hear these songs now, they bring random memories. For instance, this song reminds me of being in the car on the way to the grocery store on a sunny summer afternoon. I don't know why but it does. This is a great song.

I turned 6 in 1970 and, thankfully. had 6 older siblings. So I've basically been listening to music all my life. I can remember riding in a brother's car, watching out for cops while the music was blasting.
Dynamite concert.
Early Chicago, before Terry Kath died is just phenomenal!
My favorite member of Chicago… the horn section!😅Please react to them playing at their induction at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. They play a few songs (minus Terry Kath RIP and Peter Cetera who was replaced by Jason Scheff). You will be amazed at their playing in recent years.
I used to be in a band and we played a lot of their music. I did double duty in that band playing trumpet & bass, lol. It was great fun back then. Pure and simple music that made people bond, dance, and just enjoy themselves.
I saw them twice in concert. Peter C. Said that horns were the main theme of their music.
Gorgeous song..I was born in '64 and remember this as a kid...still a huge fan
Oh, once again, please, PLEASE listen to the full studio version of Beginnings. It. Is. Perfection.
Leonid and friends do several great Chicago covers very well
If you’re interested there is a documentary Terry Kath’s daughter made that’s really cool. She was very young when he died. It has some interesting people in it too. His widow later married Keifer Southerland and is currently Jeff Lynne’s (ELO) partner. It explores his life and music and shows some pretty awesome Chicago music parties. It’s free with ads. Also, a little trivia, Terry was Jimi Hendrix’s favorite guitar player! Here’s the link to the official documentary. I think you will enjoy it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mGuZyayNpN2XYKg.html
One of the greatest and most influential bands in history! Still performing today and high school and college pep bands still jamming their songs today!!
Thanks so much for this Salvo...Chicago is truly one of the greatest bands ever to grace our world. For something a little different from them, try "Color My World"...a short gem written by James Pankow (founding member) and sung by Terry Kath. I have such cherished memories of this concert at one of my favorite venues. I must have played their albums at least a hundred times, but seeing them live was a treasure....pure genius from this band of young guys...and, YES, those HORNS...just amazing! It's hard to wrap my brain around the hours of hard work it must have taken to not only compose and produce this complex, beautiful song but then to bring it on stage with absolute perfection.
I doubt anyone was over the age of 26 at this point in the band's history.
I've seen Chicago live twice. They're playing this summer about 45 minutes from where I live. Cheapest tickets I found for that concert are $399 and go up over $1,000. They are outstanding! Glad I saw them in the past...
Please do the STUDIO version! Chicago is great live, but the studio versions have a much cleaner sound and are ALWAYS spectacular! Then start with their early 70's hits and just work your way through the whole decade--it's ALL top notch!
This was a big wedding song back in the day
Good one! Memories!
What a phenomenal performance! I've never seen that particular song from this concert, but now I will have to find the whole concert on DVD or whatever. Early Chicago (or CTA) is absolutely amazing. I love Terry's vocals, and well, his guitar-playing prowess goes without saying.

Nothing like Chicago. Wish we could go back in time. Thank goodness for the music and video we have of them. Precious and phenomenal.
I was too young to go see this live when it was performed but it happened right up the road for me okay about a half hour 45 minute drive but boy I wish I was there I seen the whole concert a few times it's really worth the watch
Chicago had a lot of soul. Have you seen Santana live at Tanglewood? That is great too.
The thing I love about 70’s Chicago is there brass section with their music, I just love that sound!!!🔥🔥🔥 Glad you loved it and reacted!!❤👏👏👏
Awesome. If you haven't heard Make Me Smile and 25 or 6 to 4 yet, they're a must. Also I've Been Searching So Long, Saturday in the Park, and Wishing You Were Here are classics as well.

He needs to play the whole Tanglewood concert...simply Masterful
If a live version is better than a studio album version, it will still be better hearing it second. That’s how it came to be known as better. Otherwise, original versions without video of any kind are always better.
I'd suggest checking out the song, Introduction, from their Transit Authority album. It's the first song on their first album and what an incredible way of introducing the band to us. I remember hearing the album when it was first released and we were all blown away. Great great group!
Their drummer, Danny Seraphine, gets such a big sound out of a small drum set. Amazing!
So great! The studio version is also great!
Groovy,,.. just damn groovy / ty Sal
I first heard Chicago when I was 13. A really great band. The thing about these guys is, it's good rock music, and it introduced me to jazz and horns, and a good groove. 👍
Chicago is my favorite band of all time. Beginnings is my favorite song. Along with being an Illinois girl, I’m 55 and grew up with them. My ultimate fave!❤
It’s time for “If You Leave Me Now” (studio recording)
Chicago- Call on me From their 1974 Rocky Mountain TV!!! 💥Really.cool I want you to see it💥💥🎼🎶🔅
Early Chicago songs were definitely the best, seen them in concert twice, react to Dialogue Part 1 &2 (it’s one song); also check out Leoind and Friends, best cover band of Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire
Thanks for getting this out so fast You have so much more Chicago to discover their 1st 4 albums were all doubles and I believe they have 20 or more albums by now After Terrys death they went a bit softer and Peter took over much of the lead role until his departure and went solo Lots of good stuff by him alone but early Chicago with Terry is the best to me
True musicians! Awesome sound! Not many sound like them’m❤️❤️❤️
My personal 2 fave tunes from this era of Chicago are Introduction from CTA (first album) and Ballet for A Girl from Buchannon from Chicago (better known as Chicago 2.
Their whole first album is a masterpiece. You should definitely hit the studio version of the first track, "Introduction."
I grew up listening to these guys because my older brothers were in a band the covered a few of their songs, surprisingly well, and it was great to hear them again.
It Is Special!! Chicago Is Special!!
CHICAGO!!!!!
this is the second time i watched a concert... they are one of my favorite bands. before this concert, my big brother and i was at Woodstock in August of 1969. Terry Kath (+) was one of the best lead guitarist and vocalist at that time. even Jimi Hendrix once said that he idolizes Terry as the best lead guitarist everr.
You mentioned 'Leonid and Friends' - they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - they are from Russia - and they do many 'Chicago' Songs. If you give 'Leonid and Friends' any of their cover songs for Chicago which are really 'Tribute' songs - and they sound INCREDIBLE.
They were early to mid 20's Terry Kath was 24.
Can you imagine a band in this day and age that plays real instruments, let alone horns? This is a lost art. I saw them a few years back, and they played for 3 hours! An incredibly talented group of musicians that perfected an art form that is now lost to time and technology.
