They Called Me A Terrorist. So I Had To Do It.. (#64)

It had been a stressful trip to Mombasa in Kenya. Being arrested and accused of being part of Al Shabab will shake up even the most experienced of travelers. I knew that if I was to avoid the same fate again, there was only one thing I could do. It would be a painful step, but an important one.

The origin story of the 'Vlog' tribe. It all began with Tommy, the well shaved progenitor, his lovely wife, the matriarch from Mombasa, and their 20 kids, who were rumored to have cried in 5 languages at birth, and came into this world with a go pro in their tiny hands. From humble beginnings to an empire a century later.

This has got to be one of the funniest barbershop conversations, had a good laugh. @Tommy the Taita people of Kenya neighbour the Chagga in TZ and have very similar languages, probably both are offshoots of either. Or only drifted further apart, geopolitically-speaking, with the advent of the colonial KE-TZ border. The Maasai speak a 'different' type of Swahili because Maasai are not Bantu, but Nilotic (Sudanic).

It’s sad my man had to get the epic beard shaven off but I’d probably do the same if it was causing me to get constantly hassled by the police.

Tommy I’ve never been a fan of facial hair on myself or others. I think it goes back to the summer of 1980 when I was having lunch with a co worker. He was having an egg salad sandwich. Quite a bit of the egg salad was lodged in his mustache during the meal. It was at that point in time that I swore I would never grow facial hair ever. Do you like egg salad?

Day 540: Watched a white guy get a shave in Kenya. Found it fascinating. Running out of videos to watch. Already learned Gaelic. Became a patron of a kids rock group in Romania. Learned about the lives of North Korean defectors And lastly watch tribal people in Pakistan try American foods such as apple pie with ice cream. They found it delicious. And that it was “both hot and cold” was unique.

Nice video Tommy. One thing my Friend: The barber most certainly uses one razor for all customers. If he cuts you even a little bit, you are risking getting some diseases (since he using one razor for everyone). I'm not sure how relevant this is, but be safe mate.

it's always better when you can speak with locals with their languages. And it is good that you know languages. English can be used everywhere so it is not usual when US people know languages. (and not this special languages like you)
