Here in coastal Georgia the live oak leaves fall in late winter early spring. It is uncharacteristic for a maple leaf to fall in spring...Unless it's in Toronto.

Don't ever compliment that rat Brad Marchand. I'm a die hard Habs fan and I have been since 1968. I don't like TML at all never seen the Laughs win anything and I'm in my 60s now. But I'm old enough to understand that character and decency matters in hockey and in life. I absolutely despise Brad Marchand mainly because he's a massive P O S. F*ck Marchand from the bottom of my heart and f*ck the horse he rode in on. And no, I don't care how good he is, I would never want that classless piece of garbage on my team. Hockey will be in a much better place after that creep is gone.

Love him Hate him, Marchand is a special player. He will probably never be inducted into the HOF because of his mischievous antics early in his career. Sick, injured he comes to play every night and never gives up until the buzzer rings. Probably one of the most underrated player in his generation.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not a real NHL team. They are a 'Sports Entertainment' Corporation. The mission of the MLSE Corporation is to deliver regular season hockey entertainment. Playoff hockey is a bonus, certainly not an expectation.

They’re not building a legit NHL “ TEAM” that can make a serious run at the cup. They’re only concerned with putting a flashy marketable product on the ice. Been a Leafs fan for 66 yrs. I’ve had enough of the excuses. Shanahan, Keefe, Samsonov, Marner, Reaves, TJ Brodie & Domi should be GONE! And that’s just the start of the fire sale! Marner’s glove throwing tantrum was childish and embarrassing! The 67’ Cup winning Leafs team are rolling over in their graves watching this travesty! Wouldn’t give you 5 cents or waste my time going to watch them play! Oh wait a minute…..would have to take out a second mortgage to afford attending a game. I’m done with them!

You're giving excuses to a team that has probably the most elite offensive core in the league. They had a player who had 69 goal in a season who's pretty much a ghost during these playoffs. They get stomped every playoffs. It's to the point that even if they qualify, the league should prevent them from participating, because they're taking the spot of a more deserving team.

Loved the game last night!! Bruins have stranglehold on series now and after what happened to them last season im sure theyre guna be extremely motivated to finish the job on Tuesday back at home in Beantown!!?? If i was Bruins id probably roll with Swayman again!? Probably might as well ride him for at least rest of this series since hes been absolutely incredible vs Leafs then maybe go back to rotation in next round!? How do you fix it? You start with Shanahan first thing, and go on down the line. Problem is, damage is done. All their albatross contracts, are full of NMCs. So, there is no fixing this. You just have to let it bleed out, and just make sure it doesn't happen again............ I guess. 🤷‍♂

Meh theres ways to move guys even with NMC's. It has happened before, it just comes down to whether the Leafs management have the balls to do it or not. And if current management doesnt posses those balls, then Keith might have to bring in entirely new management that *can* and *will* move on from both Marner and probably Tavares and move into the future with Auston and Willy, because those are the guys you committed to past next season.

Ive seen a lot of spicy jokes about Samsonov on that JVR goal but the 8cm dilated chirp was by and far the best.

As a Leafs fan, there's no way this team was a Stanley Cup contender. All I wanted was a couple of weeks of good playoff hockey. The issue with watching this team is the lack of drive they play with. Great teams figure out a way to win. On paper, the Leafs look like the more skilled team. Unfortunately for the Leafs, statistics don't determine heart.

The Leafs have a load of problems. The core 4 eating up half the cap so they can't afford anybody else that's great, like say a goalie. Coaching. I'm sorry but down by 2 with 4 minutes left, you either go 1st Line, 2nd Line, 1st Line, 2nd Line or you double shift them. 3rd and 4th lines should be benched. Powerplay: can't score. PK: Can't stop the opposition from scoring.

@@locdawg1906 Dude I am not even a Leaf's fan. Nor a Bruins fan either but for the past few years we see Toronto with the flare of scoring but in the playoffs most teams that go far have a decent goal tender and a very disciplined defensive core. Heck Montreal had less in scoring goals compared to most other teams but went to the finals with grit and a great defensive core and a very lucrative shut down line. They ran out of gas at the end since they were not even meant to be in the finals.

Cant spend what they need on their ass end. Most teams nhl are lucky to have 1 top goal scorer. Edmonton is the only other team but they only have 2 ,but even thats too much and they pay for it in the assend and goal8es as well. But their situation is bad ,but not as bad as leafs. So i dont have any sympthy for them . They want 4 top guns thats the price you pay. Lol I love it !!!

I think it's important to compare the Leafs with other teams. Florida 2023: Down 3-1 in the First Round? Win next 3 games, Finals appearance. Boston 2023: promising season, but an early exit and many saying they're done? Compete for the Presidents trophy the next year Tampa 2024: Down 3-0, a situation they've never been in? Win 6-3 to stay alive Maple Leafs 2017-2023: ONE series win in 6 tries. Montgomery, Cooper, and Maurice have ALL found ways to get their team going. Keefe and Babcock almost outright REFUSE to do so. The players also seem uninterested.

Sheldon Queef is a joke. After last night he shamelessly said "nothing wrong with the effort tonight". He only lasted this long because of his buddy Kyle Dubas. Zero accountability with star players, they walk all over him. Only silver lining is he'll be fired when the season ends.

The Leafs GM screwed up big time this year by not upgrading the Leaf Core 4. This Core 4 is the common denominator of years of playoff disappointments. 😀

Problem is Shanny won't allow the GM to "move on" from the core 4. Dubas found that out the hard way. Shanny has to go 1st. then allow the GM to do what needs done.

Here’s an idea. The Leafs should go out and get tough character guys like Domi and Reaves! Yeah, real admirable warriors who bring a team together and toughen up the atmosphere. They could NEVER be a detriment to the team in the playoff. Check! Hire a yes-man coach who just sits pie-eyed behind the bench and starts bitching about what every other team in the league does. Check! Bertuzzi was their only real worthy signing, but even he is in over his head. He’s a complimentary piece, not a star. And Tavares? Has this guy done anything to prove he’s the super star we’ve been spoon fed since he got there? Nice guy, but i’ve never seen him carry the team in any way.

the thing is that problem was never the toughness, goaltending (freddy was great) nor defense. Problem is and always will be the core. They simply dont care in the playoffs why? cause they have no heart all they ever care for was individual records and money.

Don't be a hater, remember their magical 2023 run to the 2nd round. Leafs fans will be telling their grandkids about it.

Shanahan had a vision for the team that hasn't gone anywhere. Dubas fired himself to get outta town while the gittin was good. Keefe - they were afraid to fire him and pay the playoff loss price. Yup, fire them all and get a better vision for the team and see what players fit/don't fit that vision. Getting some high draft picks back would be helpful.

Leaf fans are not the problem. I'm 53 years old and have been a loyal leaf fan all my life so If we are critical it's for a good reason. Both management and players are only in it to make money. All other reasons are secondary including winning and it shows. First Mathews signs an insanely huge contract. 13 million and change. He didn't even consider taking the same money he was making which was insane already. Then Nylander does even better with a 3 million dollar increase. I got news for you. Marner will be no different. Marner is making 10 million and he only scored 26 goals this season. He is also the most easily shut down in playoffs. Samsonov gets paid 3.5 million but he is a 1 million dollar goalie at best. The top 2 lines are usually cancelled out by the other teams 2 lines. It takes a full team to win the cup. Bad Coaching, bad Defense, bad goaltending and no offense. I wonder why we can win?

2:50 well said...how to fix the Leafs: fire Keefe, he is trying the same things that were not working during the regular season against Boston. Trade Timothy Liljegren, and Jake McCabe...the first defender is useless in the NHL, the second one is tough but gets caught too often...let Bertuzzi, Domi, and Edmundson are free agents after this season...let them go...Bertuzzi is ineffective, Domi takes too many dumb penalties, Edmundson has too many gaffes on defense. Someone needs to spend the offseason with Reaves training him on hockey basics. He means well, he works hard (which is more than I can say for our top 4 expensive players) just his skill level needs to improve as that 1st period giveaway was horrible...a shame we cannot trade Nylander and Tavares...see if either will wave their no trade clause...in goal Samsonov is inconsistent, Woll since his injury has been inconsistent, and Jones is not good enough yet so we need a starting goalie...yeah start there and then lets see what we have next year...this team was done since the trade deadline when we picked up not enough to help us on D...

My sons house league team did same. Expected the 2 better than average players to carry the entire team. Get to finals all they have to do is lock down those two players.

Too many high paid players not the depth as a Canucks fan I love Dakota Joshua. He would be someone I would go after. Your stars have to perform well in both playoffs and regular season.

It's up to the coach to develop a playoff system. If it falters, don't do line up changes but analyze why the system is failing and adapt accordingly. This is what NHL playoff coaches know. Too bad Keefe doesn't.

How do you fix the Leafs? Move them to Phoenix; I hear its a great hockey market.

I told some Leaf fans signing Tavares would probably backfire. How I would fix it. I think I would keep Matthews and Nylander. Trade the two home boys if possible and get some good power forward for the first line and some other center with character for the second. Good goalie, beef up the defense a little. What they need is leadership, it's what's missing most and they need to find it outside the team. I would get Kadri back if possible, that would change things.

As an Islanders fan, I was relieved to see John Tavares go to the Leafs. Not surprised nothing of significance has happened in five playoff seasons, and this one will be no different.

Matthew's is hurt very clear to see! Too much offensive star power and not enough physical fire power we have seen this before! The leafs have a great offense but they lack defense and in playoff hockey defense rules you can lack offensive weapons and still win with physical toughness! This is not a coaching problem it's a G.M. problem! They need to trade one of there offensive stars (definitely not Matthews) and bring in a couple of good defensive players I am a die hard Bruins fan and I expected a tougher series! It's not over yet but I don't see the leafs winning 3 straight without a healthy Austin Matthews! No matter what happens in this series the next round will be tough Florida is a beast and the Rangers are a problem for anyone! Gotta love the NHL no matter what your team is ranked when the playoffs start if your team is clicking they have as good a chance winning the cup regardless if they are the 8th seed or 1st! Hockey is a timming game and good physical hard work is very disruptive! Still though the leafs offense is deadly when they are on their game my condolences to the Leafs fans your team seems to let you down every year! 😢 I don't know how far the Bruins will go I think they have a good chance to win the eastern conference because of how well Swayman is playing but it will be a battle the feeling in Boston is we want another offensive weapon but it's hard to complain when we are on the verge of eliminating the best offensive team in the world and is proof that great offensive teams are not guaranteed to advance in the post season!

The solution is to clear some salary cap by trading one of the top players. You don't need Matthew, Nylander, Marner and Tavares taking up salary cap and not producing as they should. Clear one or two of those bad bois and get yourself one or two good D's and perhaps a more solid goalie than Samsonov. That's about it. There's no secret recipe here. Whoever doesn't jive with Matthews and Marner in that top 4 quatuor needs to go. If Marner and Matthews can't play together, you trade one of the two. The problem for the Leafs isn't a problem of talent. They got plenty of that. They just don't seem to have any heart and chemistry. Too many big egos on that offense, not enough leadership. Oh, the other problem is that they got no trade deals with most of those players so they *have* to keep running this team for another year.
