Just got my pair and I’m absolutely in love! Stunning midrange detail and imaging paired with super precise and fast low end plus MEME to really let you hone in on your mids. The tweeters are amazing too. I tended to be too shy on treble on my Focals but now I can make much more informed decisions up there.

Hi Streaky great reviews, could you do one for the Neumannn kh310's please?
which is better HEDD 20 or Barefoot Footprint??
Hi Streaky! Thanks for all your awesome content - I find your advice, interviews, and gear reviews super helpful :) keep it up I did have a question - I'm looking at either these or a pair of Neumann 310s for secondary mastering reference monitors. Do you have any advice or input on how these compare to the Neumann's?
@SoundwaveOfficial
2 жыл бұрын
these are better than the KH310s in my opinion. the barefoots sound a little more full across the spectrum and more detailed in the mid range. the KH310s sound a little soft in comparison. still prefer the barefoot as a workhorse monitor even compared to the ATC SCM25A
How would you compare these to the Neumann KH310s?
What did you like better. These or the focal trios?
how would these compare to genetic 8341/8331 for a basement studio (12ftx14ftx7.5ft)?
How do they compare to the hedd type 20? What one would you buy if you were in the market
How do they compare with KH310 ? Which would you consider more revealing and transparent. Looking mostly for precision and best resolution @ the low end and midrange
Awesome Review! Can tell you really dig them, I definitely love my pair.. They are very balanced and have provided lots of detail without getting lost in the minutia like I used to with my old monitors. I came from Yamaha HS8, which are pretty dam good for the $. The hs8 are bright compared to FP01, I don't consider them bright but balanced. I enjoy the MEME tech however make sure you are really on the setting. Sometimes my meme selector knob gets stuck in between settings. I unplug until I use it for cube or old school setting for mixing and mastering reference checks. So far I have about 50 hours of burn in using Mastered material trimmed to a specific spl and 75-85 hours of work mixing and mastering. Have spent another 25 hours with them producing and composing. I feel the hs8 shows sibilance and mouth noise a tad better but they sacrifice balance in order to do so. I am in a smaller room 12ft x 9ft ( 4m x 3m ) heavily treated with traps and panels. Will probably add more soon. I had some slight issues at first but Barefoot took care of me and stood behind their product like an awesome company does. I use them places upon the Sound Anchor 38" fixed FP 01 stands designed by Sound Anchor and Barefoot.

Can you tell which issues you had? Thanks
@uptobatentertainment
2 жыл бұрын
@@COBRAGEDDON yes I described the issues with my meme controller in the initial comment. When I first got my monitors everything I played at 79 db SPL in my mixing & mastering room was clipping the FP01 protection circuit activating the limiter ( very audible ) having the lights bleeding red on the FP01’s instead of the beautiful jade / teal. Sounded like the FP01 were heavily distorted about to blow. Barefoot paid the shipping and went above and beyond to make them right & perform as intended. I have plenty of headroom & haven’t activated the FP01’s protection system since 2017 & I can crank them w heavy bass rms / Luis full scale w no issues at 85 db SPL calibration. The meme controller 3.5 mm cable also was causing my left monitor to cut out unexpectedly. Had to remove meme for awhile then got a new 3.5 mm cable and been good as long as I’m right in the setting. Whole Room 15 X 18 is treated w rock wool absorption panels and 4 GIK bandwidth limited corner bass traps providing a relatively flat sound reproduction from 27 Hz to 20+ kHz. You need real monitor stands to get maximum performance.. no hollow aluminum guitar center crap lol I use Sound Anchors that were designed for the FP01’s! All in all I love mine and they are solid in my room down to 27 Hz -3 db calibrated at either 79 or 85 db SPL w pink noise measuring DAW output. I been using them since early 2017.
please answer my question what u prefer barefoot footprint02 or hedd type20 or eve sc3070

Hello Streaky! Between these and PSI A21? How do they compare for electronic music (techno, house etc..) ?
I'm shopping (about 5Kusd) between Footprints, F Trios, ATC 20s, Amphion one18's, Super Rocks, JBL 708's and others. Which to you would provide best translation and quick mix decisions?
Hi streaky Did you test genelec 8351??
+streaky What did you think of this versus trio6be?
When setting up the triangle, the "side" edges should be at your ears so the corner ends up being behind your head. That's why you like to sit farther in. You're basically doing what you're supposed to do.
barefoot footprint02 vs genelec 8351 which one do you think is better?
You should do a review of the new pmc result6’s. I’m in between the footprint 02 and the pmc. Both seem beautiful, just don’t know if I can wait for the footprints to come out to grab a pair. Thanks!!!
Been following Barefoot since they hit the market because I love sealed cabinet speakers and their fast response, they must be about 3 times faster than ported speakers and will never have choking effects when high volume and transients try to move more air than ports can handle. But you mentioned soffit speakers which are almost always built improperly. I wanted to ask you if yours were mounted in a secondary cabinet with a thin layer (1/2cm or so) of neoprene rubber, then another large cabinet filled with sand to decouple the monitors from any wall surfaces. These usually have the added effect of lowering the monitors low end response by about 5 Hz as well. IF they were just mounted in a wall that was made with thick wood, then they would convert the wall surface into a very inaccurate speaker interfering with the monitors sound in a pretty negative way. The power amps in the Barefoot are over the top good, and they have a much flatter response measured to within +/-1db where others are +/-3db, impressive specs but I have never had the chance to hear them and they are a little out of my budget, makes me want to cry! Knowing how brutally honest you are with gear reviews I'm happy to hear you liked these. Now I just have to print up some money.

Did you find an answer?
@nads5907
3 жыл бұрын
Not form Streaky, but I did find a very good thread on Gearslutz. If I recall from that thread, they're very different types of speakers. The Neumanns are laid back, neutral and flat, and the Barefoots are scooped and exhilarating. Both sets of speakers reach pretty low (34Hz for the Neumanns and 36Hz for the Barefoots), so you don't need a sub unless it's a must for your work. The Neumanns offer calibration controls at the back, but the Barefoots don't, although they do offer a MEME monitor emulation system which mimics other speakers-useful if you don't have other monitors to A/B with in your studio. The Barefoots go a little louder (121 dB at 1m) than the Neumanns, but the Neumanns (110 dB at 1m) are still loud enough to blow your ears off. On the whole, they're both excellent monitors, and everything depends on what suits you personally. You will get a great mix with both, but both will take some learning. I guess if you're a bass head, you might go with the Barefoots, but if you prize a more sober picture of a mix, along the lines of the famed ATC SM25a, the Neumanns are the way to go. Best thing to do is audition them if you get the chance. Hope that helps.

You might be right. They could be missing that "sparkle" which is typical with Focals (due to the particular tweeters Focals use, aluminum/magnesium, beryllium). In that respect I think the Barefoots might come nearer the Focals. Neumanns have a dip at the 20k end, good for ear fatigue, but possibly lacking in high end detail - though to be fair, they still are detailed monitors. Which Focals do you have by the way?

Your review surprised me on several points. You say that they shouldn't be placed close to the rear wall. Barefoot speakers don't generate any sound in the cabinet, so they are the ONLY speakers on the planet not shooting from the back. Even if the subs are omnidirectional. Then you talk about small speakers, yes they are ergonomic as they don't have any resonance box included in their cabinet, like 99.99% of speakers, the reason they are small in size. But they have 650W of power! Any other speaker of that power would be 2 times bigger.
