My 2005 GMC 2500 HD had 684,000 miles on it when I sold it. I delivered new campers to dealerships with it and the only thing I had to do to it was one alternator. It had the 8.1 big block with the Allison transmission.

I’m at 215K and counting on my 2014 F150 STX and love her!! I did have an ‘03 SVT Focus which was a great little car and lasted me a very long time. I probably would have had it over 200K as well but needed a truck. The Focus got traded for a 2000 Ranger which had almost 250K before trading it for the F150 I still have. I believe you can make any vehicle last as long as you want with just a little TLC!! Great pod cast guys!!

My 2012 Kia Optima 2.4L has over 230k miles! Granted the engine was replaced under the Kia Lifetime Warranty they issued due to millions of cars having the same engine issue. I still commute to work in SoCal with it, you just need to keep up maintenance etc. and most newer cars will last well into a few hundred thousand miles! I also have a 2022 Bronco Black Diamond 4dr custom ordered and got back in Dec. 2022 which is my adventure ride and I love the Bronco!

My 2007 Tundra 5.7 is at 218,000 miles.

I’m at 210k on my 2013 Explorer and it runs as good as new. Only thing I’ve had to replace on it was one of the catalytic converters due to an exhaust leak (wouldn’t pass state inspection)

Currently have a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 with 46k miles and it hasn’t had even one issue it’s amazing and driving it is fun as well(even if it could probably use a little more power)…also have a 2016 F150 with the 2.7 eco boost and it has been amazing as well with 101k miles…only minor maintenance needed this far. Did have an oil pan issue which is a known issue but that was remedied under warranty.

Ignore the haters guys- people that have never been to high altitude or shot video journals solo have no idea how difficult either situation is- much less combining them with solo 4-wheeling. I for one massively appreciate the knowledge, expertise, and well reasoned opinions you bring to all your content. TFL represents excellence in modern automotive journalism all around. Thank you!

Wife's 2005 Honda Accord has 240k miles on it. It's looking at a new catalytic converter in the next week or so. My 2008 FJ Cruiser has 170k on it and only has one more new england winter left in it before it will fail inspection and the radiator support rots away to nothing. My 2003 H1 has 67k on it and breaks on a near daily basis. Which is fine. It's part of what makes the vehicle great and is by far my favorite vehicle and my daily driver now.

Most reliable cars come with large engines and easy maintenance. Or with well engineered 4 bangers that doesnt have soo many extra things attached to them. My vote goes to GM gmt 400 and 800. The engines live in the 2k-3k RPM and the V8 rarely gets stressed even at highway speeds. Have an 02 escalade about to hit 200k with minimal maintenance. At this point its so old it just gets what ever is on special at the autopart store or the walmart special.

My yukon denali has 300k all i have replaced is alternator and fuel pump never stranded still going strong and smooth my last 2 pickups chevy and a gmc96 and 99 they all went over 250k and im getting ready for a 15 f150 5.0 or maybe 15 chevy i also want to try a 15 tundra but goid maintenance and non abusive driving helps on reliability

I have a 2007 4Runner with 250,000 and still runs like new, just regular maintenance and some front end work, that’s all that I’ve done to it.

Thanks Guys! Overall, the lists sound reasonable. I am very happy so far with the Coyote F-150 Tremor. I am also still very happy (other than the mpg) with the 2013 Tundra Rock Warrior that I sold to the company and still see every day, and still happy with my 2002 TRD Tacoma. I just replaced the belts/hoses, timing belt, and water pump on the Tacoma as preventative maintenance at 190k miles. That is probably the most reliable truck I've ever had. Peace, Love!!

Consumer reports rates subaru forester as top reliability suv in its class-which was why I bought it new. After 8k in repairs-I now worry more about consumer reports reliability than any of the cars they say are good or bad.

Currently own a 2006 Accord with 266,000. Original Powertrain. Bought it back in 2014 when it had 152k

2000 Silverado 5.3 Vortec. 278,000 miles and still going STRONG 💪. Loved that Truck so much i kept it as my thrasher and bought a 2017 Silverado with the 5.3

I got a recall on my '23 Ford Explorer Timberline for a camera issue a couple weeks ago. No fix yet.

Got a ‘07 Chevy Trailblazer that just hit 254,000 miles today. Bought it with 103,000 - It’s my daily driver!

I bought my 2019 Tacoma- TRD Off Road 4x4 …it now has 250k trouble free miles- many in 4WD .

I’ve had a 2003 Honda Pilot that I absolutely abused, took it off-road when I shouldn’t have, towed 8,000 pound plus trailers across the country, ran it low on oil accidentally, currently has 270k miles, still runs and drives but sits in the back yard lol

I have been driving the Hybrid F-150 since 2021, drove it for 30000 miles so far and had zero issues. The best vehicle I've ever had by far. Powerful, quiet, efficient and great for city, highway and mild off road. Mine is a FX4. I just wish the turning radius was smaller. Hopefully Ford will add 4wheel steering to their F-150s.

⁠@@MrDW72 before 33s Nitto Ridge Grapplers and the leveling kit, I used to get 22-23 at the gas station. After the mods, I'm down to 19-20. All normal mode. I also have removed my air dam.

Roman, the current 4runner is older than you are giving it credit. One would assume the 4runner would get redesigned around the same time as the Tacoma but this DID NOT happen during the last redesign. Toyota announced their previous generation Tacoma back in 16'ish. The current 4runner hasn't been redesigned since something like 10'. Love the podcasts. Keep it up guys!

Likely why it is so reliable. Less electronics and a proven platform. Unfortunately those are the same reasons reviewers bash them. They always want new and keep up with the Jones (Hondas?). Why doesn't Toyota just keep making them as is? They sell because of their reliablity.

My 01 gmc sierra 1500 4.8l extended cab 2wd has 240000 still using the same transmission and engine. All I have done is change all the fluids and wash and wax it. Give your vehicle some love it will give alot of miles.

Mine is unusual being a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT sitting at 294K miles. I bought it 20 years ago when it has 63K mikes on it. The only engine repair done were valve seals at 180K when it was smoking. Other than that it was all maintenance and replacement of wear items like struts and rotors. The a/c compressor bearing stated making noise at 200K+ so it was replaced but it was still working. It has been though 3 alternators and 2 radiators. It rarely gets driven these days but I would love to roll 300K on it. Other cars I have taken to high mileage in the past include a Lexus SC300 to 320K miles but for a JZ engine that is nothing special. It was so well built a million miles and beyond was possible.

2014 Tahoe just ticked over 201k. Little to no maintenance until about 195k when my cooling system and transmission exploded within a month of each other.

@@bjornegan6421 4200 for a bench overhaul coupled with some minor oil leaks. A new radiator and install was 679, but more leaks were found into the heater core that was around another 400 to fix. Overall though I spent 7500 from 195k-204k and just sold it to buy a 23 Colorado.

I agree with the AWD. I purchased the Prius AWD because of the weather we have here in Vancouver BC. I could of gotten the Prius Prime but for one thing I can't plug it in cause I live in a Condo and plus not available in AWD.

Roman and Nathan, People whose cars did not make the best list should take heart, any car will go 200,000 miles with a $200,000 repair budget. 😉😂

The 4Runner seems like a good deal, but it get's an abysmal 13 mpg around town and worse on trails--that is a not so hidden extra cost. With gas north of $5/gallon in SoCal, after 200K miles you will have spent more than $77,000 in gas. Compare that to a Honda Pilot, which despite having MUCH more room inside gets 19 around town, and you'll only spend $52,000 in gas. Buy a Camry Hybrid and you'll only spend $20,000 in gas. "Reliable" does not mean economical or good value.

I got 14 expedition with 224k miles, 14 Kia Sedona 270k miles, had 07 Sedona til 270k miles. My brother has 15 promaster nearing 300k. They all had just usual maintenance on time. Modern vehicles will do 200k without too much drama if taken care of.

My 2007 Camry V6 went over 200k and then I sold it for a down payment on a new car! That car was the best

23:49 unfortunately that would cause way more issues than it would solve. The best thing I could point to is roll overs. Not only would so much mass mounted so high make the most deadly kind of accident more common, it would make them even deadlier. The battery pack under extreme pressure (like if the weight of the car were suddenly dropped on top of it) would create thermal runway. Meaning in the event the occupants of the vehicle survived a rollover, the floor would suddenly burst into very hot flames. So nice idea, but a "no go"

Truly, with good maintenance and care many more vehicles built in the past 20 years can make it to 200K plus miles. Not as much of feat as it once was. "They don't make them like the used to" and it's a good thing that they don't.

My 2022 Tacoma has 2850 miles on it! 😂 All my previous Ford trucks and SUV’s had over 200,000 on all of them when I sold them

2015 Ford Expedition King Ranch with 140K. Runs like new. I did have to replace the throttle body, which is a common issue. Otherwise the best car I've owned. No plans to get rid of it at this point.

My 2012 Honda Civic LX Coupe (5-speed manual) just crossed 180K. So close to 200K! 💪🏽

I have a 2013 fusion se that has a 1.6t with 189,300 miles on it. I got it from dealer with 107,470 mile. I love the car and it is my baby and rin drives like a new car. It has very reliable and a great car for a new driver

2018 f150 with 3.5L ecoboost and at 79,000 miles it fell apart. Over $14,000 in repair work and the dealership lot was FULL of trucks with ecoboost engines needing to be repaired. YMMV

2005 Land Rover lr3. 275,000 miles All original drivetrain and rear air suspension! My 2001 Discovery2 has 240,000 miles. Ive owned it for almost 20 yrs. Even with all the repairs im still in it for less than most people pay for any Toyota. And in those 20yrs its never left me stranded.

09 highlander 260,000+ but I think the end is near for me! The engine will outlast everything else on the car

The biggest factor in reliability is how you maintain something. Obviously there are unreliable vehicles but I see pt cruisers on the road and tacomas broke down in the ditch, if you neglect anything it will break down.

How are those Honda CVTs? I have steered cleared of Honda because they have had multiple transmission issues.

Kudos for the Suzuki cap... The best cars ever made. My 2014 Toyota Sienna can tell the time, and that is all I need.

Eric The Car Guy went into fixing a Honda Pilot hating it, and in the end it became one of his favorite cars.

2009 Chevy Colorado Z71 289,800 miles runs great.

My '01 4Runner Limited has 418,000 mi - original drivetrain and everything works - few rust spots, but otherwise...

2014 pathfinder 4wd stills runs great... CVT just needs good maintenance... though I would never ever use this SUV to offroad it will overheat and damage the transmission... that is for sure on a Nissan cvt...

I was looking at a GX470 or 460 to Modify and keep-- because I can do that for around $25 to $40k total... BUT the gas use is 18-19 mpg.. and that's a bit rough. I've decided too that I'm too old to offrouad now-- after some bad injuries, if I get jostled around too hard- I end up in the hospital... or in such pain I can't stand it. I also can't get out and fix stuff if it breaks down on the road any more. SO- I'm now looking at Mazda CX-50 and just deciding how I want it. - BUT- the LEXUS GXs will EAILY go over a MILLION miles-- documented..

Good idea because no way a modded GX470-460 will get 18-19mpg 😀. It won’t get that stock unless you’re all highway going 70 on street tires.

For what people mostly do on fire roads AWD SUVs should do well. 99% of the miles are on road,makes no sense to get a low mpg, rough riding, loud tires, high entry height suv, then strap on expensive high maintenance suspension…but 4x4s are cool 😀

As a gx470 owner, you will not get 18-19 mpg. Expect more around 13-15 mpg. I'm at 204k and it runs and drives like new.

Any car can make it to 200,000k miles - just take care of it. Oil changes on time, use good parts, and perform basic maintenance when needed.

Love for TFL to conduct a survey of auto techs/mechanics about which cars they love and hate. Fun watching the old, spicy farts trying to remember brand names. :)

My Volvo V70 got 400.000km and runs perfect.

Had a 2010 civic I bought with 130k miles. Put over 70k miles in 4 years. Had came to a period where maintenance was becoming constant. Bought a used 2021 Accord a few month ago

The brights on the new Colorado are still controlled by the turn signal lever. Ask Andre.

I got 2 Toyotas and a ford with over 200k miles. All manufacturers have made stuff that lasts and stuff that doesn’t is the thing. Just gotta get the right ones 🤷‍♂️ and some will make a good engine with a crap transmission “gm”.

Notice how all the ford's on the list have echo turbo engines in them. I would never buy a 3.0,2.7 or 3.5 ford.

You can get 200.000 mile out of any car you do proper maintenance on.I don't put any stock in Consumer reports there stuff is done mostly buy survey the worst way because some people like to talk up there purchase.

CR does suffer survey response bias. Reliability is reported from a survey of CR members, who are probably more likely to buy CR Recommended cars and are more likely to keep up on maintenance and not abuse their cars.

Physical buttons are very important! That is one reason I don't like vehicles that have all the functions in the info system (Tesla)

What's the logic at CR? Electric vehicles with no maintenance cost are on the same list as cars with $14k to $7k costs. They could look at Tesla forums to see the Model S examples with over 200k miles. They need brake work or suspension replacement parts. Some cost but they're reliable running cars.

By the way guys, your Florida to Colorado trip in your Model 3 . . .your choice to not use your knowledge to plan that as I'm sure you're capable of is a disservice to the car and the community. Consider the response you'd get if you portrayed a vehicle in the solo 11k to 12k offroad test pretending to be an inexperienced offroad driver. That would not show what the car can do. Equal treatment please.

1966 Volvo P1800, beats the world record. I think of Volvo as the super mom wagon. I've owned two, 1989 740s, and and XC 60. All the safety, quality, luxury, and functionality. Economical, but not budget friendly and a knowledgeable mechanic. I had many complements and offers.

This one drove me nuts. A very vague generalization of the cars on the most reliable list. No mention of what motor or what transmission. If you dig deep into the consumer reports list, you will see that by far that the motors on that list were either naturally aspirated or hybrid. NOT TURBOS. look at F150 on that list was the 5 L and the 3.3 not any of the Turbos. What motor was in the accord f for example? Did you notice that the 4runner and the Tacoma both naturally aspirated. I’m not saying that you have to dig into minute details on all of these, but a little bit more time and specifics would be great in a little less ranting. You’re using some of that list to tell people about upcoming motors and engines and what’s coming with this manufacture or that one when you’ve already done videos on that. Get specific! and get specific on the non-reliable list. You can get specific on what’s up-and-coming but you can’t get specific on problems I Chevy Silverado is problematic because of the. Active fuel management. Are you say that you were here to let the consumers know about these vehicles but you give very little information on specifics on bad things that’s what we all need to know

I've had 3 Jeeps ( (2)2008 Commanders, (1) 2008 Liberty KK) all make it over 225k miles. They just keep running...no major issues, though the KK Liberty needs a head gasket at this point. Hard to complain about that. Now...there were definitely 'bad' Commander engines and model years...but if you find the sweet spot...they're very good, so I'm one of the very few people who think they're great vehicles. (The Liberty has a weird seating position.)

2009 Dodge Journey SXT AWD. Some rust, but still going strong after 205,000 miles. Change your oil and do the maintenance people.

Any car built within the last 20 years should be able to be driven 200,000+ miles as long as you conduct routine preventive maintenance. I was able to surpass 200k in all four of the cars I've owned (98 Acura Integra, 95 Ford Contour, 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 15 Jeep Renegade).

As Reliability engineer of mobile equipment I would say 1) Toyota 2) Honda 3) keeps changing

There are so many factors that go into whether any specific car will make it past 200,000 miles As a whole Toyota and Honda do tend to make a more reliable car. However, if everyone followed Honda's maintenance schedule then darn near every new car sold would make it 200K. Now, that's not to say Honda's don't make it that far without following their rather ridiculous and pricey maintenance schedule but doing so with any make would drastically increase the longevity. I have a 2013 Subaru Impreza which is rated by nearly every expert and publication as one of the worst and most unreliable years for the Impreza. But, guess what, I'm at 198.800 miles and counting. I've seen more than a handful of old Dodge Caravans cruise past 220K. All of my Nissan's that I kept long enough went over 200K without any major mechanical issues. More than a few American large SUV's are on various list as cars most likely to go more than 200K miles. Now, that could be because they are better ade than their smaller counterparts in the company. Or it could be a large family needs their large car so they maintain it well and repair it when needed rather than trading it in. Accords and Camry's are great cars but they are also bought generally by more buttoned down types who don't drive them crazy, maintain them at least better than average and don't do any silly mods. I'm not saying Toyota and Honda aren't class acts but there are a lot of reasons besides the manufacturer as to why something lasts a long time.

If you grew up in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, we who bought Japanese cars was because the quality and reliability and price was 1000X better than any American car. The ONLY, ONLY REASON that American car companies became better after 2000 is because of Japan. Period.
