Wall Street pitched so-called quality stocks with high profitability and low debt, as a kind of insurance against whatever the economy might throw at you. Quality stocks have underperformed the S&P500 this year, My $400k portfolio is down by approximately 20 %, any recommendations to scale up my ROI before retirement will be highly appreciated.

It’s precisely at times like these that investors need to be on guard against the next certainty. You don’t have to act on every forecast, hence i will suggest you get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the shares/ETF you focus on.

@@sheliaswelttk2535 It all boils down to technique, the downtrend leaves room to key in on the market and grow-substantially whether in the long or short run, it's only just easier to make profit when the market is green, a downtrend provides an equal high-yielding avenue if you have the requisite set of skills and knowledge, reason I've been using an investment-adviser to scale up in this hard time, only way I was able to raise upto $150K in the last 6months.

The average investor buys/holds for long term to make gains when stocks go up, In a situation where you're after short term profit, it is best to get in touch with a broker or investment consultant to guide you with trade, I reached out to a broker during the pandemic and that is how I was able to raise a profit of $80K within 4months.

I am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks.I believe having 75K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. Maxx Chatsko of TheStreet pointed out one of these stocks in an article in August. Called it the Hidden Gem of Biotech or something like that..
It's very rare for a stock market to deliver two really strong decades in a row. The US stock market did very well in the 2010s after a poor decade in the 2000s. The 2020s is likely to be disappointing because of high valuations and higher interest rates dragging down growth stocks. Cheaper, commodity-driven share markets like Australia, Canada and the UK are likely to do better than last decade, and South East markets like Indonesia and India are likely to benefit from staying neutral in the Ukraine conflict and increased investment from foreign investors who are reluctant to invest in China.

@Stanley Edwin One of the things I learned from my advisor over the last 18 months is to stay calm during downtrend. It made my life peaceful. Before this I used to sell stocks when I should have been buying. I'll continue to buy good company stocks and hold for the long haul
The interviewer was being cheeky talking about bonds giving a 4% yield being better than him being "even", but what she fails to realize is that bonds are NOT giving a real yield, since inflation is annually about 8+% right now. He was managing equities, which comes with additional potential upside. He took risks, yes, but the bonds don't come with any possibility of capital appreciation beyond the redemption value at expiration. It's not the same thing. There is one truth about making money: it can't be done without risk, and she completely minimized that. EDIT: If I wasn't clear enough, we could argue buying a lottery ticket is a waste of money because of the probabilities involved. But to the winner, it sure doesn't seem that way. Even in this environment, there are stocks that are gaining in value (he mentioned some energy stocks). The point is, bonds have ZERO possibility of upside beyond the yield and redemption value. Stocks, on the other hand, can have a significant potential upside but also come with significantly higher risk. For her to Monday night quarterback and say the bonds would be better than breaking even is using the benefit of hindsight. But nobody knows what the right side of the chart is going to look like before it happens.
There are some permian energy E&P players buying boat loads back with super FCF, that also meet that long list.
Stocks are falling and bond yields are rising, but markets still don’t seem convinced the Federal Reserve will pursue plans to keep increasing interest rates until inflation is under control. I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $117k stocck portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this bear market?

The stocks this dude lists are all near 52-week highs, not lows. They were clear winners in the last downturn in the market so he's pumping them since he has positions. However, in a receding tide, all stocks are going to hammered and it makes no sense to buy stuff near 52-week highs. The risk rewards aren't there.
