I think Greg Ip wrote an article about this not too long ago on Wall Street Journal. I cancelled my subscription immediately. I heard this over and over again: "why are people so unhappy when rate of inflation is slowing way down". People want prices to go DOWN and NOT going UP slower. All the people that said that obviously don't have a real life.

When jobs paid enough, people with jobs were economically content. So I don’t understand why people aren’t content. Hmmm.

The professor begins the conversation by pointing out that voters are rightly mad because of the effects of globalization on, say, American manufacturing. He ends the discussion by saying that the federal government shouldn’t be involved in industrial policy. This is a contradiction. It was the lack of industrial policy that led to the severe decline of American manufacturing. So, he acknowledges that market capitalism is the reason for American voters’ anger and also that an efficiently run market is what is its cause.

I’ve read that Germans back in the day were dissatisfied also and then voted in a dictator who showed them what misery was really all about after a few good years

Most inflation we experienced post covid WOULD HAVE HAPPENED under either President. Voters are absolutely trash at using what *might have happened* to compare against what did happen; instead they make the HUGE MISTAKE of comparing Biden's economy to the pre Covid economy.

clueless: as Prof Searle proved in the 1960s a digital binary computer can never approximate an analogue chemical brain. He should be old enough to know better.
