I've always pronounced the "dot" in madotsuki, but oh my god the way you say her name is way cuter and I'm stealing it.

8:51 actually, it doesn't actually need to be an old version and getting to the debug room in the version on steam isn't as hard as people may think. If I'm remembering correctly you just go into the files (you can do this by going to the game in steam and doing properties, switching the names of files MAP_001 and MAP_003, and starting a new game. (All this is from memory so don't quote me on it) if I remember correctly interacting with the mirror will give you the fat effect, and the FC witch madotsuki will take you to the rooftop witch event, where you can roam around freely (even without being a witch I think). The most interesting thing tho I think is the cat coin. Interacting with it gives you all of the effects and telelports you to a seemingly meaningless spot of the white desert. If you interact with the mirror, get the fat effect, interact with the cat coin, and open the effects menu, you will see a "2" next to the effect instead of a "1" like all the others. This basically means that effects work like basic rpgmaker items and that you can get multiple of them

This was really neat!! I really hope this doesn't across the wrong way but there's a few things I would like to mention 1) Both the debug mode and Kikiyama's email are still available on ver0.10. In order to get into debug mode, the easiest way is to just change the name of its map (Map0001 lmu) to another map and it should be accessible without issue. And the email is included on the readme file (but I can't remember right now if the popular fan translation nor the Steam release kept that file orz) 2) Did the maker of the iceberg mention in which version Monoko&Monoe had different names? They hadn't been added yet on neither version 0.04 nor 0.06 so I checked 0.09 and their files are still under the usual モノ子 & モノ江 names.

The “Mom, stop!” Line from the manga is most likely a mistranslation. It’s highly possible it was Originally “Mou, yada!" Or "Ma, yada!" Which translates to “Oh, Stop it!” In Japanese.

i was curious about this so i looked it up. i could only find one screenshot of a japanese scan of the manga, but it did indeed say "やめてお母さん" (stop, mom). i don't think anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of japanese would think "mou" meant "mom", and i'm absolutely not an expert at all, but "ma, yada" doesn't sound like something someone would actually say-

I really liked this video, and I don’t want to be that guy, but I’m pretty sure twin reversed arterial perfusion only occurs in identical twins. The condition only appears in twins who share a placenta, which fraternal twins by definition do not. Its honestly not a big deal that this wasn’t correct, since this is a video about Yume Nikki not prenatal complications lmao.

It would be cool to learn about unused stuff. Though I personally wish you mentioned that "previous versions" could realistically be fake, as much as public seems to prefer believing in them. Also, if I'm not mistaken, NASU link is only available in one of such "previous versions", so that's worth mentioning for sceptics such as myself. Just now I found out through YN wiki that Mado's shirt design could likely resemble a certain kanji that means "window" and that was quite mindblowing, videos like yours could be a good platform for these revelations. Nice vid btw.

Super neat video, thank you for taking the effort to go through all of the iceberg bit by bit, makes me so happy to see new Yumi Nikki content still going strong! One thing folks might be interested in - as well as Mesoamerican art, like you mentioned about the Paracas Mantle textile with a figure resembling Madotsuki on it, many of the designs in Yume Nikki take huge inspiration from the Pre-Columbian art of areas in and around the Andes mountains, especially those found around Peru and Bolivia. If the designs of Yume Nikki really speak to you, I cannot reccomend enough doing a dive into the art of those cultures, especially the textile art of the Paracas, Nazca and Chimú cultures. If you'd ever be up for doing a video on that I'd absolutely love to see it, I forget where exactly without trawling through my bookmarks but someone already wrote a great online guide to this specifically on how it related to Yume Nikki designs, and since I saw it I've spent a fair bit of time buying books on on and researching into these culture's arts if you ever wanted any extra details or sources on it! ☺

2:45 the wiki says that the steam version has a transparent shade or something and it's what results in the screen not getting darker it's not supposed to happen, of course 3:26 the red tentacle will only be there if you have traveled past the floyags on the infinite road at least 5 times traveling by them 10 times changes the character inside the manhole's appearance 14:43 also the chances for takofusen appearing is 1 in 3500 every tick, or half-second, which is kinda similar to the 1 in 36000 for the TRAP sequence. my guess is that Kikiyama tried to reference it, but actually making it 1 in 36000 would've made it too unlikely to happen

2:19 is this meant to be censored imagery? there being potentially genital interpreted things doesn’t mean she was raped, there’s other reasons to have imagery like that in yiur nightmares or dreams, it doesn’t need that reason
