Please make sure that the motor you guys use for the table is either way stronger than what’s needed for the base table or that there is an option to add additional/stronger motors easily. I built a cradle for hanging my computer under the desk, and the steppers are drawing more current than the driver board can supply, causing it to detect a collision. This desk is probably going to be heavy AF when the drawers are full and with a computer, monitor, etc... It’s a very important design consideration that might be easily overlooked. One more consideration, please make sure that when the desk is at the full standing height with all the drawers open, that it doesn’t fall over. This issue happens all the time with tool boxes, but people might not expect it on a desk.

There is definitely a division between stand quality. From "Ikea" to "Boutique" quality. The good quality usually supports about 300lbs, but with all these addons and multiple monitors you might hit that weight. Then if you have a monster rig that you want to hang from it you are S out of luck. That's why I left mine in the floor and invested in longer cables. So, either you need to be cautious of that in your design or you have to be able to get a stronger motor.

@@DarthPoyner I have a nice sit-stand desk that can do 350+ lbs but I don't hang my desktop, a heavy top and what I have on my desk is heavy enough where I don't want to add even more weight and wear the electronics and motors out if I don't need to. I just got longer cables for everything and it has worked out.

This is all I could think of when they were discussing drawers, clamps and the "overhead" solution. The desk is already going to be heavier then many sit/stands due to being actual wood. The motor on these poor things is gonna get a workout and a half with how variable the weight can be with the skews theyre looking at.

They are using the same motors that Uplift Desk uses (1:46). Their 2-motor designs are rated for 355 lb and their 3-motor designs are rated for 535 lb

I would recommend testing with multiple screens on one of these, just to check. Many people that use a sit/stand desk today have multiple large screens, some with arms, other with normal monitor stands. And they eat up the space you need quickly.

On top of this, for the most comfortable and healthy typing experience, you NEED the desk to be pretty deep. I game with a split, ergonomic keyboard so I'm right up against my desk and have my keyboard halves almost right up against the edge of the desk. Because of this, I ended up upgrading the depth a desk I ordered to be 32" deep. Every inch matters.

I have a cheapy IKEA manual-crank sit-stand desk with 3 monitors on a home-made hutch that I put across the back, and the way the imbalanced weight tilts it back is bad enough that the crank won't even slide out to the turning position. I have to push down on the front of the desk with my other arm to even it out, but once it's evened out it moves easily even with the extra weight. The underframe in this video looks like the legs come up pretty close to the back of the desk, which would probably cope a lot better with having most of the load near the back than the centred-leg setup on my current desk does.

So, how many desks are there at Wyrmwood? Because the very first thing you should do when you "finalize" this design is do a run and replace as many of those desks as you can with your own desk. Eat your own dogfood, as the saying goes.

I would suggest maybe making a usable version to test in the office for like a week to check for possible issues and what changes may or may not improve the desk.

I like the vest, was even going to comment about it in recent videos, but Jason's his own man, and can do what he wants. I'm just glad he wants to wear the vest again.

Seeing comments advocating for a 6-foot version. For those of us with space constraints, I'd like to see a 4-foot option as well (without drawers most likely). It'd function more as a general workspace (single monitor or laptop) than a youtuber/podcaster rig.

4 Foot wide seems to be a very common size for intro-priced standing desks, lots of places sell them, and I imagine this is why. I'd personally be interested in one that size.

I am 100% on board with the finger jointed top. It is aesthetically pleasing and makes for a super stable work surface. The fact that is decreases wood waste is also a huge plus! It also opens up the possibility of some sort of Crazy Ed Frankenstein top made up of different species of wood.

The drop down magnetic headphone stand is sick, anyone that has dedicated headphones to a desktop would get that.

Concerning the table size I would test how it looks and feels with 2 big Monitors, a keyboard, a PC tower and maybe a table light on the table. Also I would look into accessability with the hardware and Controller for the table. Just to make sure it is a product for everyone

Being a high end product that can accept a wheelchair or motorized wheelchair seems like a good idea.

Loving the desk to far. I'm not super fond of the idea that the cable management will be a modular addon. I definitely prefer when my desks come with that built in and I can't help but think a majority of customers share that opinion. I'm sure the comments will let me know if that's wrong.

Well duh. I also prefer when my desks come with drawers built in. But the whole premise of it being modular is you can build it up if you don't have the money for the whole deal all at once. It allows them to offer a cheaper price point but not lose any of the functionality. They don't have to make an inferior product just to offer a "cheap" option. It's all great and you can buy only what you need when you need it. You never have a "damn, I should have saved and bought the deluxe desk" moment later.

I agree. While I do like the idea of modularity, I think the cable management box is something that everyone would want and I wouldn't want to hassle with it. Unlike most desks where you your rats nest of cables is out of sight, whether it be between a backboard and the wall or just low enough where the desk covers them from eye level, a sit/stand desk MUST be cable managed properly. Once the desk is raised, those cables are just hanging for the whole world to see. I spent a good half hour adding tie-down points along the underside of my desk just so I could start cable managing. Having a box in the back where I could just stuff the cables AND look better AND be more accessible would have been a godsend. Seems like a no-brainer to include it in the base desk and advertise with a feature that no other sit-stand desk has, rather than that feature be a separate addon.

I agree with ya. Totally understand the reasoning for modularity. Totally necessary for add-ons to make it commercially viable. With that said, cable management is to the standing desk, as a hidden recessed gaming area is to the MGT. The base model of the MGT looks great when fully in use. Hard to imagine a standing desk with a bunch of cables hanging down will have that same clean base-model look.

@Alex Schopbarteld I'm pro modular for some things but it does have a downside. More complicated to order, to assemble, more SKUs to package, manage and market, and more 'nickel and diming' as sticker shock adds the total up when ordering padding wyrmwoods bottom line.

Thank you Jason and Doug for listening. I get that the clamps aren't super attractive, but they are highly functional, and desks for WFH, streaming, desingers, etc... they use them. Glad to see the feedback incorporated. Especially early on, cause if this is half as successful as MGT was, we know major redesigns are unlikely due to user feedback (see game deck as a box, topper block topper, threaded inserts for easier/more frequent size changes)

I am all for using finger jointing. The less waste the better plus the added strength. It doesn't need to match all the other WW tables because it is its own unit and style. Is it possible to replace the lift unit when that fails without ruining the desk?

Can't speak to this WW desk but for any sit/stand desk I've used you can just flip them over, remove a few bolts, and replace the legs. It's a 2-person job, though. Those things can be heavy.

@@matt-lang Which is why I worry, wood desks with shelves and the extra PC hardware can be heavier than standard Sit/Stand. I know they showed one person riding it, but those motors give out over time.

finger-jointing is an absolutely brilliant call. especially shooting for the butcher block style of the top, you can recycle so much of the waste and cut-offs from other divisions. Holy crap that's awesome.

Here’s my continued push for a mod that includes table top tilting (drafting table/artist style). My wife would love you guys for it.

Doug's add-ons this time were actually awesome. Much better than the DM screen. Mic mount is huge, that metal bracket with holes for a monitor mount would be amazing if it could support the weight because I would cry drilling holes in that beautiful desktop. I think Wyrmwood could get some exposure too if they maybe got a streamer involved with a Prophecy version down the road. Might boost subs and bring new Wyrmlings in too!

I can watch Jason woodworking all day. He looks so much happier.

I think the “Bobby Rig” idea would be great not just for rigging stuff for pros but also as a mini shelf

I'm so happy you finally had someone actually sit at the desk for the critique. Now do it again but load the desk up with a keyboard, computer tower, mouse pad, monitors, drink, and papers. I'm someone that would always prefer having a bigger desk. If I need to reference a paper while using the computer I put the paper directly in front of me, the keyboard beyond that, and the monitors at the back end. That requires a lot of front to back real estate on a desk that people who look to the side to reference a paper wouldn't account for.

I would love a 6 x 3 desk. Once you start throwing multiple monitors the extra space will be appreciated. Also, I love Hunter's mini sombrero, very classy.

I like the idea of the bolt on system, especially for the drawers and shelves. However, just leave the cable management compartment as included.

60"x 30" is good until you add storage on the sides and lose the leg room. Definitely agree about keeping similar geometric shapes for edges. Personally with my current setup I would want a 72" x 32" desk. That desk depth really disappears depending on monitors. (Throw a Wacom on there and it goes even quicker) Also an under the desk PC shelf would be cool.

PC Shelf is bad for air flow. And for people with the "strange" shaped rigs it wouldn't work. Easier to leave it on the floor and buy long cables or even custom build a platform for the thing and leave it at that. The larger "depth" would be appreciated. Though 72" length(width) seems excessive for most needs. Maybe something closer to 64 or 66 inches.

@@DarthPoyner a shelf isn't necessarily bad for airflow if it's open on front and back and not tightly crammed in. My desk is already 60" and it's crammed with stuff. I'm a bit abnormal though with a special monitor and a second computer on it. Also putting a PC on the floor is far from ideal for me lol

@@DarthPoyner As a non-gamer air flow is not my primary concern. Cable management is. Having a PC shelf is vital for me because otherwise I'm going to end up with way more cabling than I want, since it needs to handle multiple heights. That's my current set up and I hate it. So I likely won't buy this without a better system for that. (I definitely don't have the desk space for my PC unless this desk ends up being HUGE.)

I'm still worried about the motor long term being able to handle the desk, the drawers, and all the actual PC weight.

To say nothing of the inevitable accumulation of decorative clutter... mini figures, models, pictures, etc. Individually they weigh little, but it all adds up.

Thank you for continuing to show some of your process of creating new products/enhancing existing products. I appreciate that you think through multiple steps ahead for your products. Not only can this desk sit, it can also stand. Now just to incorporate the dog bed into the desk, and we will have a real winner on our hands.

Make the Headphone holder reversible, so it can hang down, or flip it over and it stand up above the desk. That would be sweet.

I think you’re hitting an awesome market with this desk, that being streamers. I love the idea to have mountable options for folks.

I would still worry about having too much of a bevel on the back side, the bevel might interfere with a lot of clamps. Definitely needs to be tested, since it not being compatible is just straight up a deal breaker.

Bevel on the front is great. Though I prefer the top sided one. But definitely not the back and maybe not the sides.

I have a sit stand desk and it’s 72x30 inches, I honestly could have gone a bit wider and I don’t have any drawers impeding my knee space either. Personally I think the desk should have a larger size. I agree that clamping is a thing that a lot of people do, around the full perimeter of my desk I have multiple monitor mounts clamped, a camera and mic mount, a guitar neck holder, and a headphone holder and I would hate to lose them. The one annoyance with headphone stands that overhang the edge of the desk is if you have a cable then the cable can dangle and slide off the desktop (especially on nicer headphones with thicker cables). Also, will this only be sold with legs? I could see myself possibly upgrading my top to a wyrmwood one if the size is large enough but I don’t want to buy the legs and electronics again.

100% I can't use a desk that is less than 79"L x 30"w

Love the way the desk is coming along. Definitely need to test with BIG and heavy high end monitors. I have a 49" curved monitor that is about 40 lbs, but the weight on the desk itself is a lot more, so the clamps could potentially damage the desk depending. How high does the desk go? As a tall guy... sit/stand desks generally require wood blocks under them for it to work for me. It's very possible to capture more of the market if it supports tall guys. Also... it's been 4 months or so... what happened to the chairs :( Your website doesn't really showcase them anymore, so I can't exactly buy the old ones either. :(

A Drawer, with space at the front for a cable to fit through when it's closed, would be safer and a better solution.

Overall, I like the direction of the desk. Jason's headphone mount is wonderful. I also really like the idea of having a clamp to make clamping non-Wyrmwood products without worrying about compatibility (Bobby's idea was VERY appealing, so definitely make a mock-up of that). I think another accessory you should also immediately be in the process of prototyping is speaker stands. Quality speakers for music production often take up lots of desk space, so maybe the magnetic rail could allow for corner-mounted speaker stands? You'd probably want the stand to be able to pivot on a metal rod or something so you don't have to make specifically left and right corner stands. Maybe Bobby's frame could be possible to integrate into those stands? Who knows. I'm obviously not a product designer :P

Okay, I have to say hands-down that I like this better than the MGT! For folks like me without a li=ot of money but I really need the desk, this is an awesome idea. First, you get the base model desk. Get it moved in...get used to it being in the space. The next month or two, get the cable management system. Then the drawers and whatever frippery you want. I also like the idea of the accessories. Headphones? Mine are on a cheap, oversized mug hook. Mic? Mine takes up valuable real estate in the corner of the desk. Lighting? Still a WIP. If you include a way to incorporate all of this into the desk, the folks like KZread creators, vloggers, anyone who does games or meetings from home will have uses for this. Since I'm in the process of setting up my own channel right now, I'm willing to give you fair and detailed reviews of any prototypes you have.

I recommend looking at the desk depths with monitors. 30” deep can be too shallow for desks with monitor setups that are placed against a wall. This is especially true for monitor arms. I can’t see a lot of customers being upset about a deeper desk. I can see customers being upset with too shallow of a desk.

The bar over the top is great! being able to throw lights up there so I can get them of my desk to create space would be awesome. Being able to mount things from the under side would be great too, kinda of like a rail that can have things on both sides. That way you could do cup holder, tray on the front side and headphones on the back of it

I can’t be the first person to say this but, since many people play DND virtually now, combine the concept of a prophecy or MGT. You expand who will purchase your add ons that you’ve created for MGT, while speaking to your core customer base. As someone who works from home (in marketing & ops) and exclusively plays online, it would be AMAZING to have some of the MGT accessories and a standing desk.

Jason seems so much happier working IN the shop than IN the office.

You’re on the right track. Lot of people use Bullet Journal planners. That is my wish. An angled book holder with a place for a pen

I made a butcher block floating desk for my wife last year. One of her favorite things I did was use a router to make a recessed place for a pencil. It's only 1/8 of an inch or so deep and keeps the pen or pencil from falling off the top. Not saying you should do this, especially since there are drawers with this, but It's something to consider.

Don't forget about Monitor Mounts. That clamp would be super awesome to put off the back and put my monitor stands on so that I get my desk back.

I got a sit stand desk from a popular online company. The overall product is...fine but you feel like you spent a whole lot on a product that just doesn't look like it's going to age very well, let alone move well. A real wood desk with real wood top ( instead of super soft bamboo) would be great. If it's sit stand and also doesn't have 11 million parts all the better. Good desks are surprisingly hard to find unless you spend thousands of dollars or get lucky and find some antique. Can't wait to see you all pull this off.

I would love to see it 6ft instead of 5ft. I have a 6ft desk now, and there is no way I would fit my whole setup comfortably on 5ft. Here is my new 6ft desk, it has just enough amount of space to not feel crammed, but it is not super open either.

I LOVE the Bobby rig idea. Currently I've clamped 3 poles to my desk (which is not sit stand) that I've mounted two monitors and a DSLR behind a beamsplitter to. My only preference is that once you go rig, I'd like a super wide option. Currently I have an old modular Ikea model that has a corner desk piece and a normal desk piece stuck together, and I love all the space. I think cable management being modular is great, because I'm mostly good with the rats neat under my desk, but other opinions may vary

If you have a "Traditional" Desk, why not Wall mount stuff instead of cluttering up the Desk or attaching poles? I have a 60" 3d TV as a second Monitor, and it's mounted separately because putting it on the Desk would be Insane.

@@FTWynn I have a "Corner" Desk, but it's not in the Corner... I sit in the usual spot, if I look towards the (Near) Wall my "Work" monitor is there, and looking over towards the (Far?) Wall about 5 feet away is the TV / Movie Monitor, on a Stand. Keyboard + Mouse is on the... Corner? so it's a 45 degree head turn to look at either monitor, while body is lined up with the Keyboard, and my Arms are able to rest on different parts of the desk. I think for most people there are solutions to a good environment, but definitely takes some time to figure out what works comfortably. Even a well designed Desk isn't a magic solution, it's just a good tool / starting point.

This being the "prophecy" of sit-stand desks there needs to be a BIG version. These won't be bought in bulk and crammed together in some shared office space, going any smaller than a typically "large" desk doesn't make sense. It's executive, it's a main desk in someones office or studio. Music producers for example usually needs a lot of desk space.

@@flamepulse42 Consider the target audience. Professionals for example, I assure you that a lot of the desks are larger. I'm not saying that a 5ft wide one would be considered small or that they should not even bother with anything under 6ft etc. I'm just saying that this is not your everyday sit-stand desk. The "prophecy" of desks does not really go hand in hand with small. I feel that if it were smaller than the prototypes in the video it would look off. If the prophecy shrunken down it too would loose a lot of its "looks" and aesthetics. Executive look and small size, in my opinion, doesn't really work or at least would diminish the look to a point that wouldn't make it attractive to most people. A smaller / too small version might be better for some but many of them would not get it due to it not looking like it "should" or not as good as the larger ones. I'm sure that someone with the funds and that closely follows Wyrmwood would still buy it but that's not a lot of people. A desk of this quality, aesthetic and without a doubt, price, leans into a certain market. And in that market, a large portion would look for something 5ft or larger. I'm confident that the amount of people, who would actually buy this, that wants something smaller is way to few to justify it. Sorry for the wall of text :)

I'd love to see an attached sub tabletop PC surface, even if its a drawer with the front and inner side removed, for those with glass panel pcs showing the components. Also, being able to have one of those customised plugs like on the gm screens in the centre of the table would be a massive win!

I personally think the cable management should come included. It’s something the vast majority of ppl would want, and it just feels bad to realize you have to buy an add on for what some other high end and expensive (not necessarily sit/stand) desks offer. Can’t tell you how happy I am to hear you’re exploring Midcentury Modern for the sit stand desk.

Beautiful improvements, guys. Love what I'm seeing. I'm team Bobby when it comes to an overhead mounting system. Also love the hardware-less idea from Jason Would like the option of placing cup holders on a front rail with drawers that open to the side or vice versa. Could you design the drawers so they could open at the front or the side? How about square shaped shelves with symmetrical mounting points so one could choose to mount them to open forwards or sideways? I like to be able to easily access the back of the drawers. Do they slide out that far? Would the table be balanced and would the motor handle the torque if you have only one drawer? Can the motor handle the weight? I'd rather have just rails and accessories if that was an issue. Build a drawer unit that sits on the floor, has lockable wheels, and doesn't tip.

Craftsman Jason is the best evolution.

One of my next purchases post-move to a new house is a standing desk, so I'm certainly interested in this product evolution. Had been gravitating towards a 4 foot wide desk, for space saving. I find it fits a pair of monitors decently (currently using a SUPER high-end old ass folding table) for my occasional working from home, without eating up a ton of space.

the over head rail that bobby mentioned is kinda like a vanity table for your office / stream! they could call it "The Invanity Desk" XD

I feel like the real differentiation Wyrmwood brings is the magnetic rail system. However that can be maximized is a benefit, because that is the one thing I see that I am like, "Oh man, wish my UPLift desk had that."

That desk size is about perfect for me. Though I wouldn't say no to up to 6 ft x 3 ft, especially if it had a larger cut out to feel more surrounded by the desk. Love the magnetic rail headphone accessory, especially if we could get a backboard option with a magnetic rail so I could place accessories *above* the desk surface. In general I support adding more magnetic accessories, including the clamping idea. Also add an option for a PC tower shelf. Ideal would be if I could have it further back so I don't lose front storage, but I don't mind it replacing the cabinet. (And I guess that would interfere with the cable management most likely.

I would be interested in seeing a version where the drawers are attached to the base rather than the raising top. It would be easier on the motor, and honestly I'm not sure when I would need the drawers while standing, so it just makes sense to me. Plus then it's an easier add on and frees up the magnetic rails, at least when standing

Yes indeed, as long as the solution is an optional addon, and the base modular desk width has a size option that matches the end apron of an MGT. I'd love to run a DND game from it adjusted to the height of the table, then move it up to standing mode for exposition or lower for combats. Whichever I feel is more threatening and intense for my players. It could truly functionally help me tell the story in a more entertaining wy when I DM.

Like the modular drawers that can get added. How about a modular Desktop/PC platform too, that you could attach just like the modular drawers do. Just has to be strong enough for the weight of the PC's being stored on them. Having your PC move up and down with your desk along with cable management like that is ultra smooth looking.

I like the finger joints, but for the two outermost pieces they should be solid so you don’t see an edge with a finger joint. LOVE the smaller rail mount headphone hanger.

I SUPER hope the Wyrmwood team reads this: My current desk is 72in X 36in and it's, good, but it could be better. I'm really wanting more room, so much so that I'm considering getting another 72x36 desk and just putting them together. I'd LOVE an option for like.... 84? 84 inches lets just say that goes into an L desk- 84x36x84; that's a huge freaking desk, but it'd be AWESOME! ;) Especially if it was Wrymwood Limited Edition :P That and you should totally take custom one off orders or allow for some unique customizations- for a significant premium that'd I'd be happy to pay, just saying.

With your additional mounting surface, instead of a massive steel clamp, maybe try a modular rail accessory that has a larger magnetic foot print and/or stronger magnets. I’m thinking something like a cup holder sans cup hole with maybe like 3 or 4 inches of magnetic mounting surface area on both sides that’s flush with the table, so you only get a small attachment point sticking out of the desk profile, but a much larger magnetic area that’s less likely to come loose

At the start of the pandemic, I built myself an 8ft long standing desk with metal bars rigged up like how Bobby was talking about. It's sick as hell, holds my Yamaha HS5s at ear level above my three monitor setup. Watch out for twisting on the z axis. Last thing you want are 20lb audio monitors crashing to the floor. Thankfully, I used 150 psi galvanized steel pipe, but I did have to be careful of the threading for the flanges. Quality control on those were not great. Some of the joints were not 90 degrees. Yikes. 😬

I would totally down to buy one of these. My only hope is that there's just an option for fixed height legs. Id be using this as a desk for my gaming PC, not ever gonna need the standing mechanism.

So far loving the look of the desk, only concern as an inherently clumsy person the end of the french curve looks like it’s going to gouge a leg or waist depending what position it’s in, people would probably be pushed into their desk and with the recess in the front it increases the chance of someone catching themselves. I like the idea of it but i also like not getting injured, so have to agree with Matt instead of Jason for a change.

Cable management has become a standard feature in desks. You gotta provide it with the base model. Even adding 50-100 on the price, you just need to include it.

In terms of the "Bobby Rig" - what about something like a Magnetic Rail Hutch with anchor points for third party clamps? or maybe even a built in Ceiling Bar system?

I love the look of everything I just won't have the space for it. I can only fit a 44-45in desk in my current office. Hopefully this is available after a kickstarter when I have a better office space.

I for one, absolutely cast my vote for Doug getting a ring lamp helm.

Since you guys are working with the sit-stand manufacturer, I would love to see a prototype of a corner desk.

Replace the drawers on one side with tower storage. Also, can the first, and maybe last rails, not have the finger joints, it would give a cleaner look on the edge.

For some crazy reason I was imagining a desk with pretty much a vault I could build my PC in. Looking back I can see why it wouldn't be that and this looks awesome but it was what I first imagined.

Vaults/Cabinets are difficult because you have to build with airflow in mind. And with the number of different cases out there, it would be difficult.
