At first, November 19th, 2004 seemed like a regular game between 2 of the NBA's best teams. Then, Ben Wallace pushed Ron Artest, starting a fight between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons that would ultimately lead to Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson jumping into the stands to fight the Detroit Pistons fans. The Malice at the Palace was the worst night in NBA History and, here is the story of that night.
I love the NBA and I love to make NBA Videos. On my channel you will find NBA What Ifs, NBA Conspiracies, NBA History, and anything else I can think of that will keep you entertained. Subscribe if you want, I would love to have you join my channel!

This was the most intense rivalry in the NBA in the early 2000s. This incident killed in the Pacers franchise for several years, and put a dagger in any chance of them being a dynasty. The Pistons and Pacers hated each other back then. You have to remember, this incident happened just 5 months after the 2003-2004 Eastern Conference Finals when the Pistons eliminated the favored Pacers. The Pacers had won 61 games that season, they were the number 1 overall seed in the playoffs, and many believed they were the favorite to win the NBA title. Ron Artest was playing like a top 3 player in the NBA, they had a deep bench, Jermaine O Neal was a baller, Stephen Jackson was a baller, Jamaal Tinsley was a baller. They were a complete and solid team on both sides of the ball. Fast forward 5 months later. The Pacers were the favorites once again to win the of the Eastern Conference. Jermaine O'Neal was solidifying himself as a MVP candidate. Ron Artest would've easily won Defensive Player of the Year. They already steamrolled out the gate to a solid record, and they took it to the Pistons in this game. Slaughtered them, and the game wasn't even close. Then the Malice at the Palace happens. This incident killed the Pacers season, they fell off a cliff, and they never would be the same again after this. In fact they wouldn't have a winning record until the 2011-12 7 years later. Had this incident not happened, I think the Pacers would've been a dynasty team much like what the Warriors have been. They were that damn good.

I've gotten into fights for having glass bottles thrown at my head because glass bottles actually fucking hurt, could potentially kill someone and one of them shattered on my head but a plastic cup is a plastic cup, he barely would have felt it. Getting angry about it I can understand, but not to the point that you deem it being reasonable to climb over seats and try to beat the living shit out of someone.

Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace would redeem himself in a way by winning a championship with the 2010' Lakers & then auction off his Ring for $750,000. & then donated the entire sum to charity! (I believe it was for Mental & Health Research).

And Metta World Peace would thank his psychiatrist during his post championship interview. Somehow that was fitting given what had happened almost six years earlier when he was with Indiana.

I was 10 years old at the time and I remember this game because I watched it on TV. Let me tell you, it was crazy to say the least. Ben Wallace was dealing with the death of his brother (according to Stephen Jackson) and it takes a LOT to get him (Ben) pissed off. Reggie Miller went over to Artest and put his hand on his chest while he was on the scores table to calm him down. Long story short, I will never forget it.

June Virrey I agree. But on that same token, Artest should've had the foresight to know that if he engages in any violent and reckless activity he will be penalized. He's was a professional representing an international brand. It wasn't like it was back in the 80's. You can't just have a brawl like that.
