I was addicted to painkillers, then heroin for about 9 years. Struggled badly, did a lot of ugly shit, and wrecked anything good I had in life until I was on the street trying to survive. My last good friend was the only person I had left in the world, and he ended up dying in my arms, OD'd on laced H we scored together. After that I found my will to live again and I began an IOP (intensive outpatient program) with some help from a social worker. I've been clean for 6 years now, turned 31 last month. People like Larry helped me find my way out of a hell of my own making.

After 2 failed attempts to get drugs smuggled in, I caught an additional 4 years and was transferred to a maximum facility penitentiary at Salinas Valley.. Also would they allow you to watch movies like “Shawshank Redemption” or others that could inspire inmates to fight the system? Just wondering a little more about the psychology practices they enforce to make the inmates “lose hope”. Thanks!

In Scotland one of the prisons I've been in we had two satellite channels which each hall would take turns to choose what we'd watch. One day it could he game of thrones, the next it could be cricket! There's also a DVD rental service where you can get 3 dvds per cell from a prepared list (a very random list from non rated films to violent/drug-use films). In answer to your question about films like Shawshank - yes, there are films that involve prison escapes, but I feel that they maybe slip through the net or whatever, or maybe their just cool with us watching it, who knows, but the last time I was in prison I got Papillon. Great film! I also watched 'the maze' which is a bit closer to home as it's based on an escape from a prison in northern Ireland. During my time in prison in my past we used to discuss possible escape plans just for fun. These plans always hit a brick wall when we'd get to the realisation that we would need so much help on the outside that it would take a hell of a lot of planning. But it was fun to play on to pass time. Take care people and always remember people deserve more than one, two or several chances - don't give up on them.

What larry is saying about absorbing liquid LSD into a greeting card type thing and cutting it up into blotters, it should work with most drugs that are water soluble (absorbs in water evenly and perfectly). Infact, nowadays since lsd isnt that common anymore (still exists thought), inmates use the same exact method but for Meth. Meth absorbs perfectly and water and often they will spray it on a greeting card with a spray bottle or the process Larry describes. fire video super insightful and informative 🔥🔥🔥

They say that and I've used it and mushrooms myself for psychedelic experiences dealing with trauma, isolation, PTSD, Depression etc. There are actual Psilocybin shops opening up in Canada here and it's supposed to be legal in the future. Psychedelics force us to look inward and sometimes confront the feelings and experiences or traumas and it has great therapeutic benefits if you're in the right mindset to use them.

Larry, I served as a CO in county for 4 years. Worst job of my life, and it had nothing to do with folks incarcerated. By and large co-workers were the worst. People putting on the uniform and becoming "Superman". Anyways, I've seen interesting stuff getting in, even for county--which was zero contact visits. Folks using the hand sanitizer to strain through coffee makers in the kitchen to get drunk as hell, people coming in to put money on the kiosk and using the bathroom, only to tap drugs under a sink in the bathroom which the inmate workers would go to clean. When people have nothing but time.. and watch everything those who run the institution do.. You can get crazy shit done. I've seen shanks made from TP and works of art sadly confiscated made painstakingly from anything and everything. I am thankful for the experience, and met some really interesting people (mostly inmates).

@@phlushphish793 I've seen it, and found the contraband. Not only that, but the county system is no-contact. And the admission area has a public bathroom area. It was really easy for people to use the bathroom and tape dope under the toilet and if COs charged with searching areas were either lazy or didn't bother to do it to begin with, which was rather common, drugs would be obtained by the worker inmates during the overnight hours. The facility I worked at had to change the hand dispensers throughout to dispense suds instead of alcohol gel because people were taking it and straining it through the coffee makers in the kitchen overnight and getting wasted. They were only caught because a worker was stopped by a LT and was so fucking trashed he couldn't stand while cleaning. Where there is a will, there is always a way. Not only that.. but one thing we were always taught: we were there for maybe 8 hours a day. Inmates had 24/7 to think of ways to do anything they wanted. And they got shit done.

I just wrote a comment asking about this the other day and now we got a video about it? Awesome! By the way, I agree. Drugs should be legalized/decriminalized. I was addicted to prescription painkillers. I had a friend who got addicted to heroin around the same time. He died, I didn't. The reason is because the stuff I was getting was prescription narcotics that I personally got from the pharmacy. I didn't have to worry about fentanyl contamination. I lived, never got arrested(thank GOD, the stories you tell are horrific), and today I'm sober and a contributing member of society. I work in a machine shop although I dunno how long I'ma work there cuz my boss drives me nuts. But that's another topic for another day lmao. Thanks for the video Larry.

Hey Lar, this is really interesting. The corruption is no surprise in any prison system. I'm glad people are able to break addictions. I was addicted at a very young age to coke , not the drink, for a little over 2 years. The worst descension I've ever made. Ruined my savings, my friends, ruined my credit score, and even saw someone lose their life over a pound of weed. I agree addiction makes you do CRAZY things, but you can beat it! Proud to say I've been clean since 1/1/20!

They blazed right up in holding. Made no sense to me why someone would smoke up in holding, but they did. I fought and fought and finally got off. No btw, I did not smoke in holding.

if you don't like what you're doing then I suggest making something remind you not to do that thing like for example if you don't like spending too much on takeouts then make a note and put it on your door (because thats where you leave at so you can't miss it) reminding you not to do it or if that doesn't work talk to someone or put some sort of consequence on yourself if you do do it.

You can write down and preferably tell people you care about what your difficulty is and what you want to change. When there's accountability it gives you one more pressure to do better. Try to identify what triggers your takeout behavior. When you can attack those triggers, it can be more successful. Increase the friction in the behavior you want to stop, and decrease the friction in the behavior you want to improve. So, delete the ordering apps from your phone (you could still use your browser to get there if you had to), remove the bookmark on your computer leading to the ordering site. Remove your payment info so you have to enter it every time. At the same time, go out and buy groceries you would like to eat. Maybe at first you spend more on the groceries than you did on takeout, as a bribe for yourself, but over time you can budget that lower. But if you have a fridge and pantry with yummy stuff in it, you're more likely to head there for the instant gratification instead of ordering and waiting for delivery. The takeout is, I guarantee you, WAY more expensive than if you made that food at home. It's WAY less healthy. And including delivery time, it takes about as long to get your food as if you cooked! You can also build a good habit of coming home and heading straight to the fridge to decide what to cook. Just head in there and get some rice boiling or whatever, pull out some ingredients. This is really good if your takeout trigger is coming home, getting busy with something, and then getting hungry late when you don't have energy to cook. Keep a diary of what you eat. This will also help track healthy eating. This isn't about making you feel bad about failing and ordering takeout, it's more about making sure you are definitely aware of everything you're doing. You can also make takeout less attractive by trying to enforce a rule for yourself that you will only order from a narrow selection of restaurants, maybe only one. Then if you can stick with that at least, you may get bored with the food at the one place and choose home food. But if you could control your ordering to that extent, I doubt you'd have as much trouble controlling your ordering at all, so this suggestion is probably the weakest I have for you.

Oh yes, I forgot leftovers. You ought to cook a dinner enough for you to eat and put away leftovers in the fridge. Put it in reusable plastic containers. Then when you head out in the morning you can grab a container for your lunch. If you cook every night, and set aside two meals worth of leftovers each time, there will be a variety of meals to pick from for your lunch, and occasionally you can eat a leftover meal for dinner instead of cooking. Try not to keep the leftovers longer than maybe 3-4 days, as they do spoil. But you can rotate through them so you're not eating the same meal twice in a row. Also you can cook a particular ingredient and use it in a later recipe: rice is famous for this, but it could be meat or a veg that you make into something different. A baked or boiled potato can become mashed potato the next day. A boiled egg can become an egg salad sandwich or a devilled egg instead. Bread can become french toast, or croutons, or breadcrumbs. EDIT: Also you can stick a leftover container in the freezer if it's microwaveable. Instant frozen dinner; it'll take a lot longer to spoil. But make sure you do this with containers that are good quality and won't melt on you in the microwave. You might just pop the brick of frozen food out of the container and nuke it on a ceramic dinner plate instead, which is totally safe.

Fast food is proven to affect the brain just like any other drugs. I mean if you got money and don’t know how to cook you could always order everything to cook a meal with a cooking book. That’s why I eat fast food so much I can’t cook for sh** cooking classes would help. Keep busy would help you if it’s boredom like a new hobby. Try to figure out why your eating so much fast food and change it from there it might not work at first because it does affect your brain chemically like drugs but keep on trying it’s all about how strong you are mentally

I advocated for better members in Congress to be elected for prison reform, in which case a committee will be held in regard to prison reform, no more expected visits, they would be secret. And to help with the drugs I advocated to pass the 1129 Prison Reformation Bill.

Luckily she didn't get arrested and seeing the fear and panic on her child's face that day were enough to make her drop the guy and never speak to him again. However on suspicion she was banned from visiting any jail in Australia for life so if me or a sibling ever get arrested out mum will never see us again. She there away part of her life for a guy.
