    1. Don’t steal 2. Don’t gamble 3. Don’t stare 4. Don’t fraternize with the guards more than basic communication. Prolonged conversation can be perceived by other inmates as you snitching, which leads to… 5. Don’t be a snitch. You saw nothing. 6. Don’t sit on other inmates bunks without their permission. 7. Get a job within the prison. Commissary funds + it makes the days go by faster. 8. Utilize all free time either in the gym or in the library. 9. Keep in contact with loved ones as often as you can, through whatever means are available to you. 10. Don’t go looking for a fight, but if a fight finds you, fight back. Even if you lose, you’ll still be given more respect than just cowering in a ball. Defend yourself.

I appreciate the clarification on 'snitching'. One case I know of from a few years ago a couple, law abiding neighborhood parents, were harassed because they reported when they found out a neighbor, 28 yrs old, was giving a few kids in the neighborhood alcohol and pills, because they 'snitched'. No, parents will protect children, and why a 28 yr old man would be hanging out with 12 yr old boys, trying to get them intoxicated, is a huge concern any adult should speak up on. That's not snitching but simply being a decent human being with a functioning brain.

  • @markmcculfor6113

Exactly, the rules about snitching don't apply to law abiding citizens. If you see something against the law, report it. We gotta keep our neighborhoods safe and our streets clean.

To me it seems like in some cases, possibly this one, these people are generally just considered losers by their own peers so they hang out with younger people. Not always but when I was 14 or 15 I was also hanging out with 20 year olds, none of who I feel ever tried to take advantage of me.. In certain cases they just may be outcasts

But if someone choose a same sex partner, or chooses cannabis instead of antidepressants, or chooses to vape instead of smoke, then it's fingers pointed at them and lots of judgments. When it comes to hygiene you got guys that take to the extreme, had one get shanked for taking a crap in the shower and not cleaning it up. Most of the time I was fair and decent and gave them space when it came to the petty stuff, however there's always that one special one who makes things hard on everyone in there.

Thanks Mr. Lawton for keeping it real. I know this is a very late comment, however, you told the truth on everything. Been there and done that. Nevada State Prison for 10 years, and I followed your rules, even before I knew of you. 17 years on the streets. You're doing a good thing here! RESPECT!

The first rule was kind of hypocritical, calling people "whiners" but ironically his entire youtube channel is dedicated to telling stories of how bad prison was, i like his videos but that just didn't make sense to me lol. And it's not a bad thing, just hypocritical that he thinks talking to other people about bad shit is a burden on others.

I just subscribed. I'm an oldie but a goodie. 74 years young and the only got in trouble for a traffic ticket. However, I was once a musician singer songwriter for the church in the 1970's and got hooked up with the Chaplain at San Quentin Prison in Northern California. I took part in the Sunday Chapel services twice. This was an experience I will never forget. At the end of the service an inmate came to me and showed me my Bible stuck down his pants. How the hell could I tell him not to keep it. He was so honest to show me that he snatched it. I told him to please keep it. He smiled and walked away. God bless this guy. ❤

One of my personal rules from when I did my time, was to always assume my roommate had something he didn't want the c/o's to know about. So I would keep my property neat and organized, and conduct myself in a manor that the c/o's wouldn't really notice me. In other words, I tried to never give the c/o's a reason to shake my house down.

"I got you bro, I got you bro" ... but I did send money to a couple of the fellas and when I spoke to them afterwards, they'd tell me about all the other guys who just disappeared and were never heard from again and I promise you, I PROMISE YOU ... that little 100 bucks here 100 bucks there that I sent meant THE WORLD to them guys ... not because of the money itself, but because I kept my word ...
