Worcestershire is essential in beef stew and meatloaf. I never make either without it.
What a shame to destroy all the interiors with their wonderful craftsmanship. The "developers" who turned it into apartments ought to be required to entirely restore the interiors.

The “developers” have more money than you so they “do” what they want as would I. “You” should “do” something instead of “saying” something and the world would be a better place.

@jamestetley180 Have you ever heard of Historic Preservation? Most cities have an Historic Presrvation Dept, that blocks blockheads like these developers from doing this very thing, as Newport should have done.
Got to have Worcestershire sauce in your Canadian Bloody Caesar cocktail. Makes the drink.
Congratulations on your Roku expansion!
Glad it still exists. Great tour. I liked the Gothic interior, especially that huge Gothic fireplace.
Congrats on Roku! :) Worcestershire is essential in my family's beef stroganoff recipe. Lea and Perrins *only*
I use Worcestershire sauce in many things I make, salads, deviled eggs, beef gravy, meatloaf, hamburgers. Just a “shot” gives foods a great flavor!

It really does!
Most of the interior joinery of this house is still intact. It’s one of my favorite houses in Newport.

I’m sure the front doors and the fireplace mantles, wood planning and book cases are Somewhere… a developer would never trash that stuff.. it’s probably in his house 😎🤙🏻🙈
Ken, I can’t help but imagining you doing this on PBS Chicago (at least). Thanks again! EDIT: I posted about 3 seconds before your Roku announcement!😂 Congratulations! 🎉🏘️🎉
The fireplace is magnificent ❤ This sauce is perfect on hamburger and steak ❤
Beautiful house, beautiful interiors. As a Salvadoran-American, my family’s had a recipe for refried black beans cooked with Worcestershire sauce (plus equal parts garlic powder, cilantro, and Tajín). The end result is sublime, and can be added to many other dishes, especially Pupusas, or Casamiento
Very good episode, Ken. I enjoy learning the business that built these homes. Very livable dining room. Interesting connection. Congratulations on your expanded exposure. Tip: You may find interesting the story behind Tabasco in Louisiana. New Orleans to Avery Island.
Honestly not a fan of what they did with it but at least they didn't tear it down
An A1 house if there ever was one.

❤❤❤ love your tours ! Thank you
Congratulations with your show making on to television 🎉😊
Ken, look into the mansions of former Indianapolis mayor Thomas Taggart. In Hyannisport MA he built a beautiful seaside mansion. The Kennedy family moved in next door. In French Lick Indiana, where he owned the French Lick Springs Hotel. On the second highest elevation in Indiana (Mt Airy) Thomas Taggart built a copy of the Hyannis mansion, this time in brick. Identical mansions, wow now that’s unique. “This House” becomes “These Houses”
I have read that one of the ways they advertised was by hiring agents to meet ships coming into port from Europe. Every passenger was handed a free bottle as they came off the ship. They then proceeded to wherever their final destination was, distributing the product all over the country. Very smart.
Use Worcestershire in an amazing white cheese fondue.. Swiss cheese, wine, mustard powder, Worcestershire & fresh garlic..dip sourdough bread, green apples, veggies, potatoes..if you love cheese you will want to eat this weekly!
I put Worcestershire sauce in meat loaf, hamburger meat, and sometimes salad dressing. I top burgers and steaks with A-1 steak sauce though, amongst other condiments.
I'm 48 years old and I have a bottle of Worcestershire Sauce in my kitchen cabinet, grew up in a household in the suburbs of Chicago that used it 😋
It also has a bunch of condos built on the grounds
I basically like the sauce in question on pretty much anything. It's really spectacular on a roast beef sandwich with cheese. I am far from a gourmet cook but with things like that sauce, it's easy!
Add few drops of Worcestershire sauce (to taste), fresh minced garlic, and lemon to mayonnaise and you have the perfect dipping sauce for an artichoke (particularly, a chilled one).
I have spent summers living in the house since 1985. we love it and have tried to maintain the feeling of the original home. Note the grand stairs are to the left of the entrance.
I’m glad they didn’t demolish it like so many other mansions.
I once saw the mansion of the guy who invented the paper clip. Maaaasive.
Another great tour, thanks. I buy Worcestershire Sauce by the gallon and use it to add umami flavor to everything. I will think about this episode the next time I cook. By the way, another of the classic bottled flavors is Angostura Bitters, which contain quinine as an anti-malarial. The Morgan family controlled the import of Angostura Bitters, not the banking Morgans, but the family of the well-known actor, Frank Morgan, "The Wizard of Oz". We were family friends with his son, George, who always kept us supplied with Angostura Bitters.
Congratulations Ken
It is still a stunning property. There is a 2 bedroom available now and it’s quite grand.
Hello from Toronto! You make terrific videos! I really enjoy watching them. I put Worcestershire Sauce on scrambled eggs!
In Worcestershire Massachusetts it’s pronounced “Woostah.” I love it on burgers and, coincidentally, just bought a bottle today. I’m eager to try it on my Cesar salad as someone mentioned. Thanks for the tour, I love mansions too 😊
Thrilled it still exists. Perhaps someone with very deep pockets may buy it and restore it as best they can. Lea & Perins is great on most meats. My fav is grilled chicken & veggies with whipped potatoes. I keep a Jell-O shot container to hold the L & P for dipping the chicken. Great video Ken. Thanks for bringing us along.
Steak and lots of recipes!! Hope somehow this beauty gets the restoration it needs!
I used it on rice 😋
My grandfather bought several of these houses. Sadly, he tore them down to make the land for post-ww2 house neighborhoods for returning vets. True it was the basis of our money now, but it sad to think of the architecture that is gone - particularly when we see the architectural salvage we have saved for generations to never incorporate in future homes for ourselves.
Beautiful house, but Gothic interiors are unlivable IMO. That being said, Worcestershire sauce is mandatory whenever beef is cooked here!

Gothic interiors are unliveable, but people did.
Regarding the mansion, I guess I'm happy to see it still standing. As for Worcestershire Sauce, the only thing it's good for is a Bloody Mary.

It seems most commenters don't agree.
Congrats on the TV show. I am sure that it will be successful.
I was pretty familiar with Newport mansions and surprised I did not know about Bonniecrest. Looking at it with Google maps I see why as it is a gated community and cannot be seen from the road.
Another great, informative idea. Thanx!
A suggestion.....check out Cleveland and Cincinnati. Both are old American cities with extensive industrial histories.....and hundreds of utterly magnificent gilded-age mansions. English 😢Tudors, French Chateaus, Romanesque Castles, Georgian Colonials, Victorian Confections, all b 5:47 breathtaking and palatial and beautifully preserved. Would love to see some featured. 5:47
As Always Amazing but the interiors are most amazing 🤩, thanks and congratulations on the move to TV u deserve it........but my current question ❓ since you know and have seen so much do you have a favorite place or style or is that a garden secret .
I wish you had plans of the second floors too. And any others.
Wonderful house, why would anyone feel the need to gut and redo the interior?!?
Worcestershire sauce is my secret ingredient for minced meat pie and for gravies.
I use Worstershire sauce to make cheese balls at Christmas! Yum! As for the house Im not a fan of the gothic style; per se
Gorgeous mansion in it's day. I also love Worcestershire sauce! Put it in my chili. Also have a recipe for ham and cheese sandwiches and on the bun, you put butter, garlic/ onion powder and Worcestershire sauce. The Worcestershire is what makes the whole sandwich in my opinion.
Worcestershire = Bloody Marys!
👍
Use it with my red meats when I let them sit when ion feel like cooking at that moment so it give me a reason to sit down 😂🤔
It’s great with breakfast sausage & toast!❤ It’s great on any beef. The home is beautiful! Looks like ones in a lot of films. I wish they would take photos before updating the interior. It’s really a shock to walk up to a home like this then as you enter the interior decor is all redone in something that doesn’t flow with the age and style of the exterior!! If photos were made and given to buyers, they could always update it to its original state!! Going through the front doors seeing 1960 decor is hideous to look at in homes of this style. Sure would not change the exterior. I haven’t eaten it in years thanks to a genetic condition causing intolerance to most all foods to the point of hospitalized and having possible surgery. I use to prefer Frenches brand too. I miss eating so many foods.
At least it was not knocked down like many other historic mansions. They all cannot become museum pieces.
There’s going to be a run on the markets ha. I know I’m out. I love it as a steak sauce. I think it’s the tamarind that gives it the unique subtle tartness.
I love this sauce.❤😊😊...So many uses,.in numerous recipes.😊😊😊 Horrible FATE for grand ole house/history.😢

I call it wash your sister sauce.😂🤣😅
It was a beautiful house but the interior too dark. I’ve never liked woorstishisheishuer cause.
😁👌
Well, at least they didn’t tear the whole building down,
It is probably the most maligned mansion in Newport due to those interiors, but it was truly magnificent. Sorry, but I hate Worcestershire sauce.
At least it wasn't demolished
Those opening words re pronunciation 😂. I pronounce it woosh shooster sheer, so no one feels the need to 'correct' me, as I'm clearly not being serious.
That beautiful home was turned into apartments??? Sacrilege...
KEN, AT LEAST IT'S STILL THERE, BUT WITH THE INTERIORS MUTILATED AS THEY ARE, I HAVE TO WONDER IF IT'S WORTH KEEPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK ABOUT THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MUTILATION?????????????? WELL, LET'S JUST SAY THAT IT IS VERY FRENCH IN ORIGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or you pronounce it "Wooster", the right way. 😉
They are going to give back what they stole too
Bonnie crest is beautiful back then but them changing it is just sad.
Please tell me the 1200 yr old interiors were dismantled and sold to someone that would appreciate them. What a shame if they were just destroyed.
It's interesting that people have this desire to "blandify" things. I suppose it's the modern need for conformity. Congratulations on your budding TV career!
Worcestershire goes on steak
Its pronounced vooster
It's pronounced, "Wooster" sauce.
Love the house, don't like the sauce.
Always heard the sauce contains rabbit and quail blood.

A steak is not a steak without Worchester Sauce to marinate with. As far as the house goes, it's very pretty - but let a property developer (like Trump) get his claws into it, and everything turns to crap!
