The Wonderfully Wacky World of Shareware
Ғылым және технология
In an attempt to get the shop out of debt, Cyb takes a dive into the wonders of the shareware world. An (arguably surface level) look at the brief history of free software and games.

The Wonderfully Wacky World of Shareware

Love the puppet style, its soooo much more expressive than the typical PNGtuber method of periodically switching between their 4 predrawn emotions. The fact that you clearly drew some new expressions just for this video (and got creative, like that tumbleweed, love it) also sets it apart! May the algorithm bless you
I guarantee you, if Wordle were a thing in the 80s-90s, it would be shareware.
In Argentina, we had some of those. Those were a favourite of mine, because I was too poor to buy retail PC games (other than budget releases, and imported FX Interactive releases from Spain), and didn't have Internet to get games. Ediciones Top Multimedia was the most famous brand of the bunch, but other local publishers like PC3 Programs also made some.
We used to have computer magazines where every issue had a cd with shareware on it. It was amazing because they were actually pretty well curated.
retronet i'm soooooo drunkkkk 😭😭😭😭😭😭 RETRONETTTTT 😭😭😭😭😭

Piracy is my demo disk. Steal it, play it, if it’s good, buy it.

Bro, how tf do you not have more subscribers?!?
Really cool stuff here. Only seen Noodle do the cardboard thing, but not with as much storytelling and visual gags. Keep it up, homie! 😉
I was just recommended this video. I'm glad I clicked, you earned a subscriber in me.
how can a video this good have less than 1k views

sometimes the algorithm fails to share things that have true talent, I guess.. but the more people see and watch this, the more it will be shown to other people. I think.
"F*BEEP* YOU!" is actually the only legitimate reason to run Windows ME. I loved how completely broken Windows ME was and how quickly they gave up on it and hid it under the couch.
I was so happy to see a new upload, I love your channel, and the back and forth between sketch and legit information. I love the concept man.

thank you! glad you enjoyed :)
Subbing before 100k
So, "finger clients" were part of an ancient internet protocol that pre-dates Instant Messaging. Trying to explain the concept of 'fingering' a server or user will make no sense to someone that never used 80s/90s era internet services. I just suggest looking up the Finger Protocol Wikipedia article and going from there.
What a charming style, I'm hooked!

ya alot of the old old 1000+ games on a disk, you would have to go thro it with explorer find the file and unzip and install it even tho the disk had a program to look at all the files it would not work for half of them to install.
Dang, I remember playing with that NEKO one before. It probably came on some other CD of 9001 free applications I'd had. The only Shareware I ever remember paying for was a game called YIPE III. And it's almost surreal to think I did it by mailing physical money to someone and them sending me back a floppy disk with the full game. How things have changed.
@10:08 - Are you ready to comply?
