I swapped out the main menu song for The Last Dragonborn, it's also a beautiful song telling Dovahkins story

I just finished this mission, I was and still am absolutely blown away by this ballad.. those thought provoking lyrics mixed with the intricacy of the lute progression. Beautiful.

I bought a lute today after listening to this and I am beginning my journey to becoming a bard.

Yes you are correct but it's not one woman whogeralt loves it's two, triss is Berry's tart and yen is liylac sweet, in the game things happen leaving him in a situation. in Witcher 2 geralt lost his memory and triss helped him and he fell in love with no bindings no tricks. She helped him remember who he was because people were taking advantage of his forgetfully situation and he remembered yen. In the game you can't do both so it leaves you with a choice and a song like that to make you think before them choices come up

Yen is both. Her scent is literally called out as gooseberries and lilac flowers on MULTIPLE occasions. Triss doesn't even factor in. She's someone who used him for wish fulfillment when he didn't remember why he shouldn't.

I came in very late to the Witcher love- I was so invested in Game of Thrones. The fact I had read the books before the show had me even more curious to see what they did on the show..... to see its outcome. I can happily say, I swallowed my pride of "You missed out on one of the greatest games of all time in 2015" and played it as of late. Since then, I have went on to reading the books. This song was so good that it inspired me to now work on a FULL WITCHER TIMELINE- on my channel, starting with Duny and Pavetta. I now thank this game for forcing me to "GO PLAY, GO READ"' I love this story and now find myself fascinated with characters such as Leo Bonhart- I guess the point of this ramble is..... Great series yall, it is never too late.....

This song actually got tears when I was engrossed in the game after days of playing. Witcher is the only game that got me attached to.

i played the game from an old save (more than 4 hours) of game play again just to get to this point of the game where i'd leave the controller and just daydream with this song.

Listening to this after reading the books makes it much more emotional. What an amazing story

One of my favorite songs ever

Is Priscilla crying at the end? Gosh that almost made me cry (I have cried during this song before but I heard a different version)

This caught me completely off guard the first time and held me captivated from start to finish.

No matter how many times I listen to this song, it never gets any less powerful ^_^

I just realised, the song kind of mentions Geralt and Yennefer, the whole "Wolf" thing as Geralt is know as the "White Wolf" and got taught at the school of the wolf. As of Yennefer, "To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy" Yennefer is shown in the opening cutscene, with a raven (that later explodes into a crystal skull you can pick up and do nothing with) and her hair (locks) is black, as a raven, if you will. "Your scent - *berries* tart, *lilac* sweet" and Geralt asks villagers of white orchard "have you seen a woman, wears black and white, smells of *lilac* and *gooseberries*. oh, and "Violet eyes"

Also yen has violet eyes, and then there's the part about the wish that he "whispered when it all began". It was a wish made to a djinn that was initially believed to have bound Yen and Geralt together.

@Ashley - I think the storm bit is more about that Geralt (and Yen) had been involved in a lot of tumultuous events even before The Witcher I, and it only had been getting more 'stormy' since then. @aninsaneostrich - I'm sure if you've continued the game you've met some places where people actually recognize Geralt from the song. "So that song is about you and that sorceress?" ".... Yes." Slight spoilers about the background of Yen and Geralt follows: In the game is a book called The Last Wish. This is actually also the title of an actual book and it details how Geralt and Yennefer meet, and the time following that. Geralt and Dandelion find an object, an urn iirc, that holds a Djinn. As in legends, a Djinn is forced to fulfil 3 wishes to the one releasing it. As it happens, Dandelion is the one who thinks he opened it, but it was actually Geralt. His first wish is, by the way, for the Djinn to "Go away and go plow yourself", as the Djinn had been trying to kill Dandelion for having the nerve to try and order it around.Yennefer finds out about this as Geralt asks her for help to heal Dandelion who was seriously injured by the Djinn. Yen has one burning wish, and she plans on forcing Dandelion (who still thinks he is the one who released it) to use his wishes and then recapturing the Djinn to grant her her wish: To make her fertile again, so she can have children. As she tries to subdue it, things do not quite go as planned. Geralt has by now used another wish, I forgot for what. When he gets to the place where Yen is losing her struggle against the Djinn he uses his last wish to bind their fates together and stop the Djinn from interfering. Was it mentioned that Geralt had been fascinated by Yennefer? He was fascinated by her. Ever since they are always drawn to each other. At some times Yennefer loves him, at others she detests being bound like that. They love each other and at the same time neither is sure if they love each other because of the wish only. For those who cheer for Triss - Triss never knew Geralt until Yennefer introduced them. She absolutely knew he and Yen were bound to each other with the wish but when he lost his memory in Withcer I she took full advantage of him. Further, in Witcer II, where Ciri has entered the picture, Yen and Geralt decide to hide her from a circle of sorceresses who wanted to use Ciri for their own gain. Triss betrays their hiding place. I'm honestly amazed Geralt will even talk to Triss, but as he says, "we've known each other a long time".

I had chills when I first saw this in game. I almost weeped. Was fucking great moment. 2021 Witcher season 2!

This part was always one of my favourites in the story the songs holds alot of secret meaning behind it.

On my second playthrough after my 100% clear I did a speedrun for a bugged trophy (at the time) and the this was the only cutscene I didn't skip...

this moment is one of many moments the withcer 3 captures my heart

had a glass of whiskey while watching this masterpiece

The depth of creativity out into this game is beyond imagination. I'm listening to this song in the game for the first time as I write this. Just wow.

Yenn is that asshole girlfriend who demands to be princess and will scold you for any jokes. I personally can't handle those kind. The ones that want the leash on me and treat me like some kind of dog and will yell at me if I do something I want to do for but one moment! Triss for life. She at least will sit and drink with me and enjoy herself. Yenn Is that strong independant women nature blahh she is no fun.

@@TheRAMBO9191 and Triss is an abusive woman making sure to sleep with Geralt when his memories are lost and knowing full well of Yen and his story since Yen is her "friend". Not only that but she keep on forcing herself into him at every single occasion after that, even when she is only there to make sure Ciri doesnt explode into a million of small pieces killing the few last witcher with her. Yen > Triss. She just is more honest about herself right away so it take more time to like Yen than Triss, but Triss is the real bastard one

I came exactly to say what these guys said. Just like you on the first playthrough I killed the priest the minute I laid eyes on him. Currently on second playthrough, decided to have a little chitchat with him first. And oh shit. Hope you already avenged that poor girl. We all owe her.

Yen’s ware the fire is, you might get burned but the warmth is all the more encompassing.

It would sound better if it was slower and and a bit more solemn. Still absolutely phenomenal

She tries hard in the game from what I could tell because she noticed Geralt in the crowd. It's kind of like a message to him that she saw him without giving open acknowledgement because of how people view Witchers. In their universe, she easily could have her career ruined reputation wise if she was known to be a friend of a Witcher.
