This season has been such an incredible uptick in quality. It seems like they really found their footing with it and have made some necessary corrections. The recasting of Mat definitely made his character more enjoyable and I feel like the new actor really makes him feel more in line with the character from the books. I'm excited for everything that is coming.

The way that Siuan and Moiraine each betrayed each other at the end was truly devastating.

I’m not a book reader, what’s not sitting well with me is -this could be, because I don’t know her well enough yet -but Siuan wasn’t behaving the way I’d expect her to in all of her scenes (making it rain scene seems like Siuan). Anvere is fun I really enjoy her. Moiraine is who I love. I was saying to one of my friends that I always talk to about the show that I was not feeling at all connected to the five either but this episode I’m definitely starting to feel it now. Progress! Lanfear being so quick and easy either her tremendous power really shows us how strong she is.

Really enjoy your commentary. I think the issue with Rand his abilities with undoing the knot was a bit clarified by Lan when he says just cut the knot since he knew Rand did not have the training to untie them. Expediency forced a quick action. Also, I loved the parallel in using the one power between Rand's epic lack of training and hatred of using the one power and Eugene's embrace of the power and her trainjng at both the tower and as a Demane. Rand will get better at this but these two are so important to the long game

I definitely need a re-watch of this episode! Lan's identification of Moiraine's shielding surprised me, but thanks to various commentators like Amber, I see that the evidence for his logical conclusion was planted in several scenes.

ep6 may have had the most stunning sequences of the show so far, but this episode is the best episode overall imv. Fantastic from beginning to end. I just wish Lan had taken a different path to this point. I love that they're showing us his other sides-not just a stone cold killing machine but also a loving friend and a meganerd. I am so psyched for ep8!!!
