I think Ben 10 Franchise is a good franchise it has ups and downs. IDK aid you guys notice every Ben 10 2005 through Omniverse in the beginning of each franchise the first couple of seasons are good then it ends with okay/decent/meh. My favorite iteration is Ben 10 2005 and Ben 10 Alien Force.

Everything Dwayne Mcduffie touched has become gold in my opinion. I know he didn't work on the original but I believe he was important for multiple of the sequel series. Even after all this time I feel like his work holds up. Rest in peace.

The OG series is interesting since it's a fairly realistic portrayal of "what if a kid had superpowers?" Most shows go the idealistic route of them being stewards of justice and being smart and mature for their age, and then there's Ben who always misuses his powers and tends to act immaturely, cause he's literally a kid. He needs a lot of guidance and hard lessons to be a proper and functional hero.

Heck ya, I like him for the same reason I like Percy Jackson, they’re both hyperactive, rebellious tweenagers who often make believably immature and self-centered decisions but are capable of pulling it together when shit gets real

The only thing that's frustrating for viewers is when we see Ben learning lessons, then returning to the same behavior next episode. Western cartoons had this obsession with keeping characters status quo so kids could jump in in any episode, but that doesn't work with linear storytelling.

That's what I loved so much about the series, Ben had to grow into his powers and identity as a hero. Even better yet because we get to see what Ben becomes without that guidance from Max and Gwen, as well as how the trauma of losing them effects his future. Such a great series

I loved omniverse. I was turned off by the new style but it had great characters and good fun plots. Now I might like it better than the rest of them.

Me too! I was put off of it for a long time because of the art style. But one day my parents brought home a set of the first season, and well... I had to keep up with it. It has some of the best and balanced writing and humor in the series.

Yeah, the new artstyle put me off for a while, but because of the new artstyle we got some of the best animation and intricate fight scenes in the whole series.

It’s weird looking back on this show and thinking “man this show was awesome back in the day”. Then I realised I was literally 10 years old on 2005. This show was marketed too and aimed at me! Weird how time makes you realise things

This man is in insane. He could have spilt each seasons of Ben 10 into separate videos which is easier for him for Fringemas but he made a single video more than 3 hours of Ben 10 and still have lot more videos to upload in both channels

this man has the balls to make a near-4-hour video essay on the history of Ben 10 and puts an Offspring joke "you"re NOT gonna go far kid" (i see you jordan) into it before the mid point and thinks no more than 4 people will get it??? I'm people, and other people, show this man his humor is appreciated. Please, cuz i need to be not only one of four XD

I wasn't a fan of Omniverse until there was a sort-of in-universe explanation why the artstyle looks different. I didn't care for the 2016 reboot until literally the series finale, which admittedly hooked me in because it showed that Prime-Continuum Ben 10 wasn't forgotten. I also loved that the reboot brought back Generator Rex. Maybe we'll see that IP resurrected one day

That excuse(?) Never made any sense to me. Any time there's an art style change I just assume the creators wanted a change of style to either challenge themselves cause they got bored or because they just felt like it. As much as I enjoyed Alien Force through Ultimate Alien, I didn't think twice when Omniverse hit cause I just assumed they wanted a change in style. Omniverse is probably my favorite after having seen it all again a few years back.

The Offspring joke is appreciated and i love the deep dive. Never watched past Alien Force but I appreciate being caught up. Ben 10 is such a cool universe.

Dude I literally grew up with Ben 10!. I followed the series since day one. When I turned 10 I was excited cause it made me feel so much closer to ben 10 (despite ultimate alien being the ben 10 show at the time) omniverse was when I started to loose slight interest because of the omniverse art style. It was beautiful in the first few episodes but I checked out during the incursion invasion But then I returned the next season and that’s when omniverse began to hit its stride in terms of art and writing! I was 15 or 14 when omniverse came to an end and a part of me felt sad. It was like saying goodbye to a part of me, it was like I was leaving a part of me behind, but the ending to omniverse was too beautiful, it was the perfect good bye to the OG franchise and for everyone who grew up watching it. When I said goodbye to Ben 10 it was like saying goodbye to apart of me, it was sad but I knew that it was going to happen and I was just happy that it was apart of my life I was never mad at the reboot cause I knew that the reboot was going to be a new generation’s chance to enjoy ben 10. It’s not my Ben 10 but that’s okay cause we had our time to go hero, it’s time to let someone else go hero ya know?

*Ben 10* deserves a new series (6th), Cartoon Network start working on it already. 💚 Love this show so much. 😭 I know more about Ben 10 lore more than my own life.

Ben 10 was one of "my shows" growing up. Like you, Fringe, I didn't go past Ultimate Alien and I think you convinced me to watch some of the newer ones just for a walk down memory lane.... with some differences.

I've been watching this the past 3 days at work and now I'm finally done watching 😅. You always manage to bring back nostalgia within me. Seriously though, you do amazing fantastic great work and I look forward to for more nostalgic videos. Keep up the great work man.

Time for the only actual Ben 10 Retrospective which is a proper 3 hours long.

Super interesting topic for a deep dive like this. Very few animated series has had so much change over this short amount of time. All adaptation and continuations offering unique takes that are flawed but good. The closest thing I can think of is Scooby-Doo and Nina Turtles with decades of adaptations.

My twin boys love Ben10. I watched this because I was curious what they liked so much about it but this is the perfect video for a breakdown and now I completely understand 😂❤

I didn't want to like Ben 10 way back first when it premiered, but the 7th episode was the one that got me into the franchise. From there, I was hooked. Throughout every iteration of the show, through the movies and up to the 2016 reboot, this show was a huge part of my childhood and even into my early adult years. Man of Action really became a name I would look for when I was searching for new cartoons. I hope to introduce it to my children when they're old enough. Great retrospective!

This is the first time I've watched a video of this length in one sitting! You did a great job at keeping this whole video entertaining. I didn't even really watch this show growing up just in passing as my brother watched it, but this has made me wanna go back and watch it now!

Ben 10 was one of my favourite cartoons growing up and is my favourite franchise to this day. When I went to my first Comic Con I went dressed up as Alien Force Ben 10 with the jacket, jeans, shoes AND Omnitrix.

Good video! Never watched Omniverse, I got turned off by the art style change and just left the show at the end of Ultimate Alien. Kinda sad I never gave it a chance when I was younger, seems like it was better than I gave credit for. I grew up on Ben 10 and it will always have a special place in my heart. I remember getting home from school, going up to my room and turning on Cartoon Network and watching Ben 10, Gen Rex and many others. I miss OG Cartoon network tbh.

I enjoyed all of classic Prime Ben 10 from OG-Omniverse, never checked out the reboot exactly for the same reasons I initially dipped out of Omniverse, but from the way you described it, it's quite convincing to watch, can't wait. I had the same experience. I loved the original, Alien Force, and Ultimate Alien. When Omniverse came out, I thought it was like some weird reboot instead of a direct continuation, so I wasn't interested. It reminds me of how I felt about the Pokémon anime when they decided to reset Ash and make it like a reboot, while also trying to act like the past still happened.

I got through it pretty easily. Love the videos man! Keep it up. You should be really proud of yourself for this.

Just that scene of alien x standing there as everything unwrapped, it truly looks like a failstate, a hero just starring at their failure

Seeing Alien Swarm again brought back so many memories. They had a contest running during the premier of the movie to win a Omnitrix watch that functioned as an actual watch and Kevin's car. I watched the day aired and looked for the codes during each commerical break. I wanted both, i won neither.

I'm watching this on the franchises 18th anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Ben 10, my favorite franchise. Happy birthday, Ben and Gwen.

Ben 10 has been one of my favourite shows since I was like 5 years old, getting into it was got me into almost all of the media I enjoy now, I hope we get something new soon whether it's a continuation of the reboot or classic timeline

I remember getting hooked into ben 10 as a kid, however when it came to the reboot I didn't think it was that bad, aside from the early episodes being filler and the finale episodes were worth the watch.

Really appreciated the Gwen/Kevin insights. I liked the Dad joke. I really enjoy your humor style.Who's your favorite alien and who's your favorite character? My fave iteration is the OG series.

This was my favorite cartoon as a kid, and i, like you also stopped after the 3rd series, the major change in animation style threw me off from the rest of the franchise but i will always have nostalgia for Ben 10.

As for the next Ben 10 iteration, I'm down for anything, really, but since you mentioned Kuro and the Ink Tank I have been obsessed with Kuro's idea for a Ben 10 MMO and either that or a legitimate Triple-AAA game would be at the top of my list.

Just realized that the aliens from Rick and Morty epiosde "Promortyus" are litterally inspired by DNALIENS! Thats so cool!!

Yes and no. The DNAliens were based around the face huggers from alien. But in promortyus, Dan Harmon said they were based on Starro. The DNAliens turn their host into them while the aliens in promortyus were basically just a mask that doesn’t alter the host

Watching the ben 10 premiere was magical back in the day. Im convinced anyone who heard that banger of an intro for the first time on cartoon network was instantly hooked.

I actually was one of the reluctant omniverse watchers. But i tried and really couldnt get into Rook. Years later watched a later episode. And oh damn, Rook works so much later in the series.

There’s so many games that follow this archetype of mods carrying the community to a new era that are 10+ years old, all of which I love and play regularly to this day. RCT, Minecraft, GTA5, the skate series, fallout new Vegas, Terraria, etc

Ben 10 still remain my absolute favorite franchise ever

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I remember watching the first episode come out when I was a kid and absolutely loved it.

When I first encountered Rook, something about him rubbed me the wrong way. He eventually grew on me of course but something was bugging me, like I'd seen a character just like him before. It's Blue Beetle. He reminded me of Blue Beetle from Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Like Beetle, Rook is a new hero with a techno-gizmo that can transform into pretty much anything. And he's got a blue color scheme. He's not a total copy, but similar enough to irk me.

Not gonna lie, the episode when Ben finally gets a Hang of the Omni Trix pissed me off. That was such amazing development for him that he could summon to 10 Aliens at will and they take it away from him immediately. Ben 10 should have kept that power up.
