this type of collaboration restores your faith in humanity
Love this! Also, The Band and The Staples singing The Weight for The Last Waltz documentary.
You two are beautiful human beings.
The Late Great Robbie Robertson. lovely, thank you!
I have found in my long life that there are more good people in the world than bad. The media seems to focus on the worst of what humans are capable of. Happiness and peace start inside of each one of us, and although it is often difficult if you look for the best in others, you will find it more often than not. Music proves that we can cross national and political boundaries.
Such an iconic tune, and playing for change did a good job with it. Robbie wrote the tune.
The Band is a much needed reaction 🤘🤘
I loved every second of that. Your contributions to this moment as well.❤
I haven’t seen one of these collaborations yet. Must have missed your first one.(will seek it out) This is amazing song and the collaboration is very special!
Ringo, “What key is it in Robby? …F-demented.” Fun to seem him still cutting up! Gotta love Playing for Change.
Need to do The Weight from The Last Waltz. Iconic.
Music is a universal language but the music of today is just entertainment. This music went to a higher place and was able to touch people in a much deeper way. I saw Robbie Robertson and the Band 3 times and one of those times was when they were touring with Bob Dylan for the last time before they stopped touring as a group. The Band was such a great group and I don't know if many people these days realize how big an influence they had on music in the 60's 70's and right up till today. RIP Robbie. You gave us the greatest gift of all, the gift of music!
Playing for a Change is such a beautiful brilliant concept. Music is the universal language, and these wonderful songs reminds us We are all human beings together. You can hang anywhere in the world and be among friends if you love music
Ringo Star is just plain cool.
Thank you ever so much for playing this version of one of my late wife's favourite songs by the Band who we had seen three times in the late sixties and early seventies. Today is the third anniversary of my lovely lady's death and so much love and peace filled my heart not to mention the flood in my eyes when I listened to this classic just now . Thank you.....peace and love
You ARE bringing people together! Spreading such a peaceful message in such a special relationship. You are role models for that. Really! Doing more than you realize!
I love, love these Playing for Change videos! Each one does make my heart smile. Thanks so much with helping to spread such great collaboration. This reminds me of the Rockin' 1000 video where artists in Italy played Foo Fighters Learn To Fly. That video is simply amazing. I watch it whenever I need to restore my faith in humanity. It makes one realize that we are all more alike than different. I would LOVE to see your reaction to it.
Getting to know you and kind, loving people like you two give me a little hope. You guys are ambassadors for a better world. Thank you so much.
One instrument looked like an Oud. The oud is a Middle Eastern short-neck lute-type, pear-shaped, fretless stringed instrument, usually with 11 strings grouped in six courses, but some models have five or seven courses, with 10 or 13 strings respectively.
You guys are two beautiful souls...you have such honest reactions....keep listening...Love you guys. Try.... Cat Stevens....Boy with a Moon and Star on his head. An amazing song and story. Peace.
🎵🎶🎵" Music is a Universal Language,of Love,,Peace TOGETHERNESS " ❤✌️
Great pick guys💪🏼
Lucas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson ..and a very good artist...has band. " Lucas Nelson and the Real"...
Music is the key to life. ❤
Considered one of the best songs ever written. Check out The Band and The Staples Last Waltz version.
Go watch “The Last Waltz” It’s a MUST for any music lover! I’m an old Canadian guy who grew up within 40 miles of 4 of the 5 members of The Band. I was a few years younger than them, but during a 40 year career in the Canadian Music biz, I met and knew all of them. They’re one of the most important music groups of all time! Peace
Man what a sound they had 🎶🎶🎶🎸🥁. 💞. Guys, Ringo was a good friend of the late Maurice Gibb. He was one of the Bee gees. The Bee gees in the hat. Y'all said he was your favorite. Ringo & Maurice lived next door to each other & sung together & made crazy videos. I love Ringo & you 2 🥰🥰
Beautiful song and beautiful reaction.
Wait a minute Chester!!!!
You both echo the ‘I don’t know’ mantra but the rest of us here KNOW that you KNOW!
I love this so much, makes one feel good, thank you for this reaction.
i got emotional too
This Was Recorded During Covid Lockdown.
There's a two-part video on the making of this video. Also, Bob Marley's house is featured in this video.
How about some Joni Mitchell😊 from the album Court & Spark
Awesome ❤❤❤
Love this! Next? Maybe Playing for Change "Listen to the Music" would be great and please also think about The Band & Staple Singers playing "The Weight" from The Last Waltz. Thank you for being wonderful reactors & greetings from Canada
Willy Nelsons son Lucas was even in there.
More playing for change
The proper one to play with be the recorded version from The Band's Big Pink or from the movie The Last Waltz. With Mr. Levon Helm singing in both of them. Sorry. May Levon rest in peace.
✌️❤
You MUST review this same song (The Weight) performed by The Band (Robbie Robertson was the lead guitar in that group) and The Staples (also known as The Staple Singers) in the great Martin Scorsese documentary film "The Last Waltz" about The Band's final concert. The entire film is one that you two should watch, as many of the greats - some that you have reviewed - appear as guest performers (Neil Young, Van Morrison, Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell. "The Weight" is near the end of the film, added to showcase both the talents of The Staples and the true artistry of The Band. It is one of the greatest concert videos ever made!
The editing for these playing for change videos, is amazing. If you do another one you should check out Ripple, A Grateful Dead tribute.
Check out playing for change's version of Bob Marley war
"The Weight" is an original song by the Canadian-American group the "Band" that was released in 1968. This is a great rendition of the song & great collaboration by artists from around the world. Proves that Music is a universal language.
Fantastic production! Always liked verse 2: "I picked up my bag, I went lookin' for a place to hide; When I saw Carmen and the Devil walkin' side by side. I said, "Hey, Carmen, come on, let's go downtown." She said, "I gotta go, but m'friend can stick around."
Levon Helm Live Is The Only Version For Me ... Sorry ... 😮😮😮😮 April 29 2024 (1414 hrs)
Try "Ripple" by the same group.
I’m not a Patron member so nothing to donate, but if you want to find great pleasure go back to the very beginning of Playing for Change. The first release was Stand by Me. I have been a member since the beginning - 2005. There a couple of folks in this video who have played since the start. Merman and Roberto Luti. You could probably do a reaction every week for the next year because there are so many great songs the have done.
Suggestion for you to check out Bob Dylan “things have changed”
Oh Yeah….Beagles Rule😀
Do yourself a favor and play the original version from the Last Waltz with the full "BAND" and the Staple Singers. This version is anemic elevator music compared the original!
Love your reaction.. but please.. don't bother with those "auto lyrics".. they're almost always wrong.. and sometimes hilariously so (using "lord" instead of "load"... lol) look forward to more reactions from you..!
Fantastic song and reaction and I love the reviewers. But am I the only person alive who despises these AI lyrics?
