I have to say you guys were born too late. You are hippies in the best sense of the word. Not the clothes or the drugs or the free love, but the love and respect for your fellow man. You remind me of so many of my friends back in my youth. We really believed that love and music could change the world.

I’m from cat Steven’s generation and well said mark. I will add that in the decade of innocence, the 1950’s I was pre 10 years old and believed in love and music and have the house make out parties with your girl to prove it,but My parents generation didn’t agree with the sexual revolution and drugs of the 1960’s and tried to prohibit the life we did live in those times, and yes there was protest by us,the youth Of those times..my mom would find pot, let’s say, flush it down the toilet and think that prevented me from buying more. Truth is the more parents protested our actions the more we did it.i don’t condone free love and drugs but I was a part of it The Woodstock kids and when you try to prohibit the sign of the times the more they met resistance, like anything

Stevens formally converted to Islam on 23 December 1977, taking the name Yusuf Islam in 1978. Yusuf is the Arabic rendition of the name Joseph; he stated that he "always loved the name Joseph" and was particularly drawn to the story of Joseph in the Qur'an. You can tell thru the music his path was clear.😇

It's nice to hear these songs again but there is nothing like living them and watching them climb up and down the charts. What a time period from 1964 to 1975, give or take a few years on each side. To answer your question; we can't live in peace because it is in our human nature to destroy, especially our fellow man. It takes something very special to allow a person NOT to be like that. You're right, Andrei, it's because of evil people in this world but we are all capable of hitting back hard if we don't understand the concept of loving even your enemy.

In 1971 some (53) years ago. Cat Stevens Folk Rocker extraordinaire had one of the greatest albums titled "Tea for the Tillerman." On that album was "Peace Train." The Viet Nam War was still going on with protest happening in the UK and the US. His way of protesting the Wars and Police Actions around the world was to write an Anti-War song. And ended up writing Peace Train while he was traveling on TEE (Trans Europe Express). Florida USA.

Great compositions and performances to check out. My faves include "Where Do the Children Play","Miles From Nowhere", "Father and Son", "Sitting" and "Angelsea". Mostly acoustic w heartfelt lyrics. Cat moved everyone w his original presentation for his songs + a great voice.

He was actually born in London, so officially he's British, to a Greek Cypriot father and Swedish mother, both of whom had emigrated there, and who lived there in London and operated a restaurant -- which they continued to operate and live above even after they divorced, when Cat (Yusuf) was eight. Although his father was Greek Orthodox and his mother was Baptist, they sent Cat to Catholic school for his education. I guess we'd have to call him a citizen of the world.

I'm 73, and an old hippy - we grew up with this vibe ringing in our heads, so I feel your pain Dominika. We have evolved in a constant state of need - to avoid the suffering we saw around us. And it's still intrinsic to our fundamental nature to hoard, as insurance against an uncertain future. That's why we still have wars over territory and power. Amongst those who are already wealthy and powerful yet still direct these conflicts, it's a mental aberration. Amongst the poor and suffering, it makes some kind of sense. All the time our leaders maintain a state of social inequity they'll be able to justify our complicity in their personal games for ultimate power. We're trapped in a game directed by just a few thousand madmen. Love and peace to you both.

So moving -- I cry with joy and sadness every time I hear this song, since I was 10 years old when it came out. You guys are wonderful!! And you see, Dominica, he felt exactly like you -- "WHY? WHY? WHY?" Me too. It's coming soon -- it really is -- you will be so pleasantly shocked and surprised!!

In 1969 my band was recording at Criteria Studios in Miami and Cat Stevens had the studio next to us recording his album. That was so cool.

Yes, why can't we all join the peace train. 50 years later he still preaches the truth.

I absolutely love the two of you! You both obviously love, care, and respect each other in a way that really resonates with most of us. Please share your secret...we want what you have!!❤

As I mentioned in your previous review, one of the most emotional songs Cat Stevens performs is "Sad Lisa". Check out his live performance in 2015 (Festival de Vina) . Many in the audience were in tears because it was so moving!

This is my favorite Cat Stevens song. It was a radio hit. He has many more hits, only a small notch below this one, IMO
