The Wedge from Wales - The Gilbern T11 Prototype

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In our latest film we take a look at another great British Wedge Car, the Gilbern T11. Created in 1971 by Gilbern (who were Wales only sports car manufacturer), the T11 Prototype was to be the companies new two seat sports car. With a striking body by Trevor Fiore (of TVR Trident, Alpine A310 and Montiverdi 450 Hai fame), the T11 promised a great deal. But the project was canceled and the prototype abandoned. Gilbern then went bankrupt in 1973.
We speak with owner Gordon Johnston about his search for the forgotten prototype and his herculean effort to restore it and get it back on the road. -- Subscribe: bit.ly/TTTR-Subscribe --

That’s cool Tony! You must have a lot of stories from your time at Gilbern. I guess there was no sign of the T11 when you were there. I don’t think they’d started on it 67.

The motor has been changed to a 2ZZ lump and as a result is 200lbs lighter, the balance and handling has definitely been improved! Ha ha yeah well I actually own a Bertone x1/9 so I’m used to getting in and out of small cars. But that T11 is something else. I would need an Abarth double bubble on the roof to work for me. I reckon with a bit more development and Gilbert would have raised the roof a little higher.
