I had 2 in Australia... a 1900cc base model "VC" Commodore, and a factory 5 Litre. The Australian range of engines for the 1980 Holden Commodore "VC" series was 1900 German Opel, 2850 Aussie straight 6, 3300 Aussie straight 6, 4.2 Litre Aussie V8, and 5 Litre Aussie V8. They were a HUGE seller in Australia - and if you need parts you'll find plenty here! The 5 Litre I had was ex-Police automatic with a rubber-melting 3.55:1 diff ratio that limited its top speed to about 185 km/h... but it would sprint to 100 km/h in 8 seconds flat (and remember - this was a 3-spd automatic with a carburettor). In fact, if you floored it from a low speed it would kickdown to 1st, wheelspin a bit, push you back in the seat, and then chirp the tyres AGAIN at 70 km/h on the upchange to 2nd gear. Back in 1982 that was just what the South Australian Police wanted. Even had a .38 calibre bullet rolling around in the boot when we got it home from the auction!

That takes me back!... I had two Triumph 2000's, and three 2.5 PI's. The last PI was a stunner... it should have been a "Keeper", but new children quickly soak up funds! When the end of the Triumphs came, I moved to BMW 3 Series. There is a marked degree of similarity between the Triumphs and the BMWs, so it was a logical move. ** 1978 320 (carburetted). ** 1986 320i... I only had it a couple of weeks, when the dealer traded my "Most wanted", so I did a swap. My "Most wanted" was a: ** 1986 325i. Loved it, and kept it for many years. ** 2000 328i. ** 2012 335D Touring. Three litre twin turbo diesel. Massive torque, blisteringly fast open road express, it was amazingly frugal on fuel. ** 2017 330e. 2 litre turboed plug-in hybrid. Lovely car... all our local motoring was electric only, using free electricity from our energy plan. Out intro to electric, which resulted in: ** 2023 Kia Niro EV. Don't laugh... I cannot believe how good this thing is! The fit and finish is flawless, our "fuel" bill for 1 year / 10,000 km was NZ$76! And... I look forward to driving it! SORRY, IT LOOKS LIKE I GOT CARRIED AWAY HERE... BUT I DID LOVE THE TRIUMPHS, AND THEY STARTED THE WHOLE ROMANCE! 🥰 👍 OK, Back to reality!🥴 😜

Reminds me of a 3/4 sized DeTomaso Mangusta (which made sense at the end of the video, when you revealed the designer. The DeTomaso Pantera is my dream car. Well, one I could afford to keep running if it fell into my lap anyway) with a more modern front. Very nice car. Must get plenty of fascinated onlookers, and a fair share of questions. Congratulations on sticking with the car build. You have done more than most with your life.

I remember these cars with great affection. My older brother had one and he loved it even though it gave trouble from time to time mostly with the dynastart. Great to see there are a few that have survived. I note with particular interest the registration of your car.

I absolutely love these cars. I wish someone would build something similar today. I believe Ford tried with the T bird but it didn’t sell well. Probably because it was over priced and didn’t offer a standard transmission.

Spending your money on such a beautiful car, is NOT a waste of your money. You let it live on. Something a Yenghi would never do, they would either run it down, or put it in a museum, and let it die of frustration. You are so fortunate to have such a MAGNIFICENT car, streets ahead of a TA. 💙🤍❤ And real Marachel lights, perfection.

No and never were. Boilers usually ran on kerosene. There were trucks and some very old, primitive cars that did use coal. The trucks were in use up to modern times.

That's a great example of the Viceroy- nice score! I'm based in Australia, and we had the very similar VB/VC models of the Holden Commodore (based on the Opel/Vauxhall), first issued in 1979. The Commodore quickly became Australia's best selling car, and it remained that way for around 20 years, when Ford just snuck ahead with the Falcon. The Commodore had a 3 litre six cyl engine in the standard model, and a 5 litre V8 in the top-end model (SLE). Originallly they had a four cylinder option too, but its performance was abysmal and it was soon quietly abandoned. In the early 2000's, Holden returned to 100% designing and building many of their models, including the Commodore. However, I always preferred the cars with the Vauxhall/Opel connection, if only at a visual level. Love those guys who run the Heritage Centre. No BS, just real passion for the cars- you can't beat it. Great video- keep up the good work, cheers.

Fabulous machine! As a child, I used to see some stretches of the Rally TAP (Rally Portjgal). The Alpine, the Lancias and the Fiat 124 Convertible were dominant. Note only here, but also in Monte Carlo, in Finland, etc. Acctually the 124 was raced by a famous nordic Pilot, usual winner of the competitions. A Friend of mine presently owns an Alpine -- winner of several Rallies, namely Monte Carlo. The car is driven from time to time -- not often because is worth a fortune. I believe that her provenance renders the vehicle particularly special. Thank you for this fantastic video -- at the outset, the tree-leaves on the ground impart an artístic, poetic touch to your production. Indeed, your Alpine is in the right hands .

electric is ideal for an old beetle. i would love to have one. i owned a heavily modified 63 beetle, it looked and sounded amazing, and had a good amount of power, but the maintenance on it sucked and i seized a motor which i spent so much on because the engine made so much power and heat (especially how i drove it) that the oil got so hot as it didn't have adequate cooling from the stock oil cooling system, which i believe was none, and it just burst out of the oil filter and seized up the motor. i was going too fast at the time to do anything about it. even tho i had a killer 4 tip flared exhaust and big cams which made it barely idle, and sounded so sweet, i would gladly trade it for the quiet power and reliability of an electric motor. only i would prefer a bit more range than this one has.
