The Voyage Of The Golden Hinde 1973 - 1974
In the year 1973 to 1974 the full replica wooden Square Rigged sailing ship the Golden Hinde recreated the journey of the original ship by sailing from Portsmouth to San Francisco.
Here is a montage of some of the last surviving footage of the journey, narrated by one of the crew members, Keith Smeaton.
The Golden Hinde replica is now moored on display near London Bridge.
Keith is behind the project to now build a replica of Captain Kidd's Adventure Galley pirate ship. Information about which can be found here:

I got to see the Golden Hind when it was moored in San Francisco at the time.

Amazing!
Fascinating! Did they carry extra canvas to make 'new' sails or were they using patchwork from the old ones? It would seem that much extra weight might be a problem.
