THE VIKING STOLE ALL THE GIRLS - SwT 111 - A SOLO SAILORS SECRET (HUMOR)

In this episode I share my Viking secret how to steel all the girls, also sailing around the island back to the west side. Going snorkeling and having a great time with the Team from Sailing Sophisticated Lady.
Sailing and snorkeling in beautiful waters with a perfect beach club party on BE FREE is never wrong. My friend Rick Moore had angels protecting him when flying through the air off his bike on our captains day off tour.
Team Sophisticated Lady also made a fun walk through of BE FREE and you can watch this video here: • SSL645 ~ WTF ?!?

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I`m sailing around the world in my Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever I have time for it. Most of the time I sail singlehanded but occasionally I do have sailing friends onboard. Still in the Caribbean due to Covid and was supposed to be in Asia by now.
Even though this is season 4 on youtube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor for decades. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore. I enjoy sharing my mistakes as well my knowledge and experience without trying to teach you anything.

    Hi Thomas, nice video! A small remark regarding weight belt. It is easier to dive but it's lot harder (more muscle power) to go back when you have already used oxygen from your lungs and blood. Weight belt is for compensating the wetsuit buoyancy not yours. So better do not use it without wetsuit.

  • @SailingwithThomas

    @SailingwithThomas

    Thank you so much for your kind words and for your input for possible future topics of episodes. In general it’s not much I would change cruising the archipelago back home compared to ocean crossing. Might be because my boat already are setup for long distance sailing and long time off grid. The other way around from being a coastal approaching ocean sailing would be a lot. Especially on the safety equipment like EPIRB Life raft and satellite systems. All the best and cheers 🍻

    Hey Thomas I am unfamiliar with scuba diving. When you dive 15 feet in the ocean, is the pressure on your ears as great as it is if you dive 15 feet in a swimming pool ? I hope this is not a stupid question, if it is, it would not be the first one I ask. LOL 😂 I hope Rick is alright. Thanks.

  • @SailingwithThomas

    @SailingwithThomas

    Жыл бұрын

    Never stupid questions only stupid answers. The pressure on your ears will be the same. That’s why you need to de compress like I do in the video several times on my way down to 32 feet. By holding for your nose and blow until pressure realises in your ears. This must be repeated on your way down. Rick is healing very fast and well. All the best and cheers 🍻

    If you measure depth with a rope, the pressure in the ocean will be a *tiny* bit higher, since sea water is slightly more dense than fresh water. In practical terms, it doesn't make a difference, since for 15 feet, the pressure difference would represent maybe 1 inch, maybe less. For all intents and purposes, they're the same. Especially because when scuba diving, you measure depth via the pressure (basically a pressure gauge that just has a different dial that shows the depth in meters or feet instead on the pressure in bar). That means, if it shows 15 feet, that's the same pressure, just the distance to the surface might be a bit different. ;-)

    I always like your video's so much, and you give good and helpfull information too. So I am looking forward to your next video, where you will tell more about your boat (thanks by the way for the answer you gave me a while ago on my question about your boat) And if you can can you answer my next question maybe also? Because it puzzles me. Why does boats like yours have 2 steering wheels???????? You can only steer with one person at the time. And what if 2 get on it and want the opposite direction????? It seems a bit strange to me. So if you can give me an answer on that I will be so happy. Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • @SailingwithThomas

    @SailingwithThomas

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you so much for your kind words and for being here. Had some trouble with my Mac getting drowned and other things, so I’m behind schedule. But it will come more soon. Double helm station with two wheels is to replace 1 big wheel due to the wide body of the boat. Meaning you can sit on leeward side and watch your sails. Both wheels are connected with metal arms and gears so they are coordinated together. It’s not possible to operate them differently. Only mirror each other. So instead of having a 4 meter in diameter wheel you have 2 smaller. Hope this answers your question. In the episode “why do I sail a 55.....” or “Bigger is better” you can find more details with graphics explaining this. All the best and cheers 🍻
