It’s finally here: the new T6.2 Ford Ranger with a turbo diesel V6 engine, and our man Iain Curry has driven it. This is the new Ranger Wildtrak V6 diesel, the top of the range until the Ranger Raptor twin-turbo petrol arrives next month. With a 184kW (246 hp) V6 under the bonnet with 600Nm of torque this ute has serious grunt, with more torque than the outgoing Volkswagen Amarok and way more performance than a Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Mazda BT-50, Isuzu D-Max or Mitsubishi Triton.
But should you line up to buy a new Ranger V6? Or are other utes better value? Let’s take a first look today, driving the Ranger off-road and on tarmac.
As always, we don’t accept advertising from car manufacturers, and we’re powered by Budget Direct - so this is an independent, honest review of the Ford Ranger.

@@godfreyjnbaptiste5863 we have had the 2.0 and the 3.2. Its night and day compared to both of those engines in the way it delivers its power, very smooth and seamless. The ride characteristics is probably 25% better in feel also. The tech is great and maybe a bit of a learning curve with its layout. I chose the sport because it had everything I needed. Wildtrack has heated seats/black hood lining and and some different exterior stuff but nothing major.

I have the Toyota Hilux rogue 2021 and I can honestly say with the inclusion of a electronic roller door tread with caution. I’ve had nothing but issues with mine, either getting stuck, draining the battery and the included tub lights not turning off. If there was an option of using the manual release I would use that.

I have a late model Mustang with the 10 speed and find very little use for the paddle shifters on it.
