    Handmade wooden fins, foam stain, channels, resin tint.. most shapers would block that caller! You accepted the challenge and absolutely nailed it. Well done.. The fin jig is ingenious and thank you for showing us how you shape your channels. Great set out and execution.

    Old-head tip for those glass on fins from a guy who's been building and repairing since the days when all boards had glass ons. When doing your patches up the sides of the fins, orient your cloth on a 45 degree angle to the base of the fins rather than at 90 degrees the way you did. Your fins will be less likely to crack at the base that way. I'd probably do a thicker piece of fin rope as well. Great build video. Cheers.

    Resin and tint. It’s probably won’t work that well with eps/epoxy. And you’d need to sand the entire board to get the resin to bond. That would leave patchy colour. I’d probably do a spray if you were looking for colour on the foam 🤙

  • @Shrednaught

    It doesn’t but it would definitely be so much better if you can find one that does. It’s a out 3 1/2 - 3/4 long cutting length from memory. I found it on eBay. You can purchase surfboard specific ones but they’re in the hundreds of dollars

  • @Shrednaught

    @Shrednaught

    With a foam stain with resin it’s going to be a lot more compatible with the resin used for glassing. Gives the foam some extra strength over spray paint as well. Spray does give you less of a chance of messing it up. You can definitely do full foam stains.

  • @Shrednaught

    There’s a few positives and negatives to glass on fins. Glass ons add a different feel to a board. A more connected experience to plug in fins. Typically when doing glass ons I’ll make the fins to the board or board for the fins. Negatives are the obvious.. can’t take them out to travel.
