I wash all blocks in buckets of water with a dash of bleach and detergent by default because these are for my grandkids. I spread them out on towels for a few days until they feel dry then do a quick sort by simply pushing them into piles, for a further sort into Kwiklok freezer (tougher) bags.. Where I am there is an annual sale by Green Shed of 13 tonnes of Lego which allows you to pick out the parts you want. It is a massive scramble and the experienced buyers wear gloves. People are very co-operative, it pays to tell others what you are looking for.

How do you find that affects the colour? I’ve generally tried to stay away from bleach and stick to detergent. The annual sale sounds very cool! We have to basically source everything online here or buy new from retail

I did my first batch of lego through the washing machine. I put them in laundry bags, double bagged it. I put towels, clean, in the laundry machine with them. Worked alot better then I thought. Worth a try

Towels are a good idea too. I just saw so many broken washing bags and machines needing to be replaced. I'd rather wash in the sink - keep it simple, smaller batches - keeps the wife happy too!

@@kiwibrickexchange ya that was my biggest fear to. One of our fellow bricklink brothers goated me into it. My wife warned him lol

It's one of those things that if it works for you - keep doing it. I am hoping that this provides a nice simple method for someone starting out. The method seems to work well for sorted categories too but I can see if you wanted to wash before sorting that it would be helpful to do it that way@@kep8971

I have washed 1000s of lbs of lego in the washing machine with laundry bags. It’s by far the most efficient washing method for the amount I process. I haven’t had any issues with the machine but even if I did it would be worth the cost

Thanks. Yeah definitely a good option if you have larger quantities and don’t need to access it all the time. For Bricklink I need easy access to pick orders so these organisers definitely work well for that

If you know anybody that has cats, for any reason the big plastic almost 5 gallon kitty litter totes were perfect for sorting big bulk. That’s what I use.

Yeah I’m thinking of getting a small dish tray that can sit on my knee when sorting too - lots of good variations of the organisers/containers

Thanks... Just saw your channel and subscribed. I have quite a few storage drawers (Arko-Mills) I've been using but have not had a good software till for identifying locations. I was using Rebrickable but that is kind of couldn't. I will try Brickstore. Looking forward to watch more of your videos.
