How I sort bulk Lego quickly and efficiently to save time and money for Bricklink, resale, or city!

Sorting bulk Lego is incredibly time consuming, boring, and seemingly never ending! But, the rewards can be fantastic whether that gives you extra parts to build your own city, resell on Bricklink, or just have the OCD satisfaction of being sorted. Haha! This video focuses on the basics of my sorting strategy that I find speeds up my process and motivates me to actually put in the time to get some of this task done.
I would love to share my Lego adventure with you! Hello, I am the Brick Scavenger and I am a Stay at Home Dad and a Lego Lover! I have a big Lego city in my basement, a large minifigure collection, and I try to fund the habit by selling my extra Lego minifigures on WhatNot. I have decided to create this Lego Vlog to document my adventures and share with anyone interested how I spend my days. I split time between building my own city and prepping for WhatNot shows. Feel free to join me on my adventure and I'd appreciate any feedback on my city as I will be asking questions throughout my videos on what you like and don't like about my various designs and displays.
If you're interested in adding to your Lego collection with an amazingly fun shopping app, you should check out WhatNot. I can get you $10 off your first order using the code below! In fact, you might even get up to $200 randomly to spend on WhatNot!!

This is so far the best method I tried. The sliding is the ultimate saver. I started buying bulk and sorting out whole sets for resale as a hobby hustle only because sorting, completing sets and building them soothes me. It's perfect relaxation to listen to podcasts and going through 30kg of that sweet noisy crap

Before sliding, I usually pick out the large parts as the obscure and obstruct the rest. A sorter to 'weed out' the really tiny pieces also helps to go from bulk to manageable. I bought a nice lot just a couple of days ago and the kid pulled out most of the minifig hands AND arms... go figure.

I am in the most hideous Lego situation after pleading with my husband NOT to chuck all Lego in massive bins together- the new 2022 stuff of my son with his 80s Lego. Not even setting aside big half built bits. Just a massive mess and building old 80s kits with new pieces leaving the odd discoloured pieces in new sets. Now I can do sorting so much quicker. Thank you thank you.

I appreciate the time and care you took to make this video. I saw your old one you made years back and it really helped me with sorting Lego. Moreover, this is by far the best method I have seen to sort Lego and it works well. Thank you, and God Bless you.

In retail this is called "double handling" and is actually slower than putting it where it goes the first time. Ideally you'd have all your category bins on the table and put each piece where it goes all at the same time.

The sliding method is very clever! If I might suggest a time saver: The second macro-sort of going through the sorted brick ( 10:39 ) for already-sorted categories can be skipped to save a LOT of time. Just pull out anything interesting, and dump the rest of the dregs into the next day’s bin and sort it next time. At the very least, the off-camera sort ( 12:58 ) can be skipped by dumping those into tomorrow’s bin. Thanks for a clear and concise video!
