I did a tea party for my Nana and 14 of her friends. It was more English tea style sandwiches and scones. I had decorated boxes so each guest could take home the cup & saucer they chose along with 'leftovers'. She was the reason I went to cooking school. This summer I'm doing a tea for my mother, but with Thai, Filipino, Japanese dishes. I'm so happy you did this video as it has helped inspire me as I wasn't sure what to make.

Damn these creative fillings remind me of my HS days. My Canteen used to serve a dinuguan sandwich. Was bomb af
For the authentic Filipino tea experience, you can try Salabat (ginger tea) or hot calamansi tea with honey. You can even combine them 🙂 For coffee, try Kapeng Barako.
WE WANT RICE! 😂 But seriously I see how much effort you put into this so thanks a lot Jeanelle for doing so and showing us more of filipino culture 😊

form rice patties as bread and just sear them so it keeps its shape
Wow looks great! The only change I’ll make is to switch out the black tea with Salabat (ginger tea) to really make it the full Filipino afternoon tea experience.. We make our Salabat by boiling chunks of ginger and straining it, we sometimes boil the ginger with sweet potatoes, to cut down some of the gingery taste, it’s really good highly recommend if you haven’t tried it..

Try boiling ginger and lemon grass then add honey to sweeten.

Omg I’m hosting my first afternoon tea in a few weeks and I’ve been STRESSSSINH about the menu. I’m African and I’ve never heard of a lot of the foods you had in this video but I sooo want to try making the sweets 😋
So love this concept! 💛Who would've thought that our simple and humble Filipino rice cakes, desserts, and snacks can be served or made this fancy? 😊 I haven't been to any afternoon tea party but maybe this can be a starter. 😍
This looked incredible! So beautifully done, and I love that everyone dressed up for it. "Stupendous." 😄
sardine in spicy tomato sauce is my favorite too! it's so good with hot jasmine rice
This looks amazing. I'm impressed. I don't have the strength to make that many things when I have a tea party!
I was super excited for this video since seeing all the shorts about the foods! It looked super fun and delicious! I love making themed parties as well and maybe I'll sneak some Filipino food in there next time 😊
Amazing tea party! I love everything about this video! I think I like the deserts the most. I’ve never had afternoon tea but I love making thematic dinners for my friends and family. I get super excited planning the menu, cooking and then eating together.
pickles in India are called achaar, quite similar to the atchara mentioned at 1:48

Another additions would've been puto seko and pulvuron. Those would've been nice pair with tea. As for rice snacks, ampao would've been nice. Instead of cooking it the traditional way, use the "fancier" caramel where you add butter and cream/milk. Then sprinkle flakey salt on top. Another rice snack would be rice puto. Instead of all purpose flour, use rice flour. The taste is different from regular puto. You can top it off with Eden cheese or salted duck egg slices and/or you can also make a version where you put custard or flan on top. You can also flavor the puto differently tho the combination with salted eggs is best with plain. Suman is another rice forward dish. Make the balintawak suman. I'm not familiar with how suman is cooked but this one is white and purple rice inside. The white is more neutral while the purple (definitely not ube, just purple rice), is sweeter. You can top this off with latik. As for sandwiches, I don't think there's a lot of original Filipino ones. We just add whatever but there's a popular one in our province called "new york" or "new york sandwich". Basically, just a piece of sliced bread, flattened. Put hot dog and eden cheese or whatever. You can also spread lightly with a sandwich spread. Roll it into cylinder. Make sure it does not come undone. Dip in egg, then in panko style breadcrumb. Fry. I think this can be fancified by using other meat, maybe some vegetable cut into thin sticks and not-processed cheese. I think using a traditional pandesal for sandwiches would make it very Filipino. Besides the sardines (usually fried with eggs into an omelete/scramble), we use corned beef too. Another pandesal idea is to cut them horizontally, spread star margarine on top and sprinkle some sugar and toast them in the oven. Our neighbor used to sell these and they're amazing. Sweet and slightly salty and crunchy. The pandesal can sometimes brown a lot but I like it.
Beautiful! Was waiting to see the culmination of all the shorts
I just bought some Japanese organic Sencha green tea leaves from a company called Clearspring. I soaked it in warm spring water and ate the leaves grinding with my teeth into a liquid and then drank the warm spring water i used to soak to get all the nutrients from the whole leaf and as a tea lol
You and Doug really worked hard for your afternoon tea! It looks so good. You really enjoy cooking. Have you thought about opening a restaurant?

Wahhhhh so galing jeanelle!!! 🥹 so nice to see Filipino food so represented and displayed
Omg I really want to try this ❤
this is such a labor of love~ might try a scaled down version of this with my friends soon~
I really enjoyed this video. Very well edited and planned out! Great job! ❤❤
This is so comforting to watch
I’ve had experience making the menu for afternoon tea! I really wanted the cucumber sandwiches (cuz I never get them anywhere else) so I made that as well as my chicken sandwiches and strawberry sandos! We also ordered a cake, I made biscuits (because I prefer them and it’s easier to pop in the oven) and we had 3 kinds of tea! Tho most everyone preferred the nice loose leaf I bought for the occasion! Definitely a lot of work but I had such a good time I’m willing to do it again!
alll this food looks amazing!
I’ve been interested with afternoon teas nowadays thank youu
This is the cutest! Haha if I had the time, I too would have a little kakanin tea party. Surprised sapin-sapin isn't here, or that you didnt make the scones have a little cheese-and-salted egg thing like it's Puto.
This video made me really happy, I really want to do an afternoon tea sometime soon and will definitely incorporate some of your recipes!
Everything looks so good!!!
All looks delicious!
Everything looks amazing! This is inspiring - but definitely would take a lot of effort!
This is so elaborate
I loved this video a lot I can't wait to host my own afternoon tea!
WE WANT RICE WE WANT RICE WE WANT RICE
Is puto a good alternative for scones? It fits better for the merienda theme imo.
Our tea time are simple, refreshing yet stomach filling
That cassava looks delicious 🤤
I didn't know this was already up, I was waiting for this. ...now I want rice
THE EFFORT!!!❤
Quality content here 👏
LOVE this video. P.S. Y’all look so sharp and elegant!! 😮💨🔥
Thank you so much for this video! Been craving for Afternoon Tea too!
so filipino!!! love it!!!
If they offered this kind of afternoon tea I would be like *take my money* 💸💸
We use to do this ever Sunday. But very diffrently, it would be me, my three siblings and my dad mom too somtimes. We would buy a bunch of cookies and sweets, make hot chcoclate in my dads giraffe tea kettle. And play go fish. It would last hours, best thing ever ❤
4:35 Friends, remember that you can use this kind of strainer to crack an egg over so that the yolk stays on top and the egg white pours through 🥚
I love your videos ❤ BTW I would eat cheese cake for tea ❤
Omg 🎉❤ thank you so much for this!!!! 😭 🤤💕💕💕💕✨ I can’t wait to try these!!!! I feel unworthy lol 🙇♀️ thanks for sharing!!! ❤️💕❤️💕💕💕

Salt and calamansi if you aren't cooking it to reduce the fishy taste.
Buko pandan horchata for the rice series, and heck yeas. I have a tea sandwich recipe that goes so hard. Some day. I reaaally want to try Indian chickpea tea sandwich. Oh that salt egg one is amazing. Highly recommend Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen blog coconut scones. They are incredible. Your sweets are so kawaii. I like to see a mint tea at tea, and then Parisian and Irish probably my fave blends. I also have a thing for Russian Caravan.

Pinipig. I loved that cassava finger cake.
Nowjim hungfylry that atchara with eggs looks so good.... Tielme to also get pimiento spread
There are actually a lot of Filipino teas many are herb based, some are rice-based, others are flower-based. Please make videos on ginger-free atcharas (I hate ginger, celery, and black pepper)
I think i might try an around the world theme someday..
Your videos looks so yummy!! I'll try the ube rice Krispy 😋 I thought the thumbnail has the ube rice Krispy so pls don't ask.

LOL. i did post that recently so i understand the confusion.
I'm interested to see a French take on Afternoon Tea and Turkish tbh.
Sapin sapin would be great addition to the menu
Unfortunately my first experience with afternoon tea was awful. My aunt chose a place my cousin's said was one of the worse places for afternoon tea. And they were right. But this one looks so freaking good! Sign me up! When is yoir afternoon tea restaurant open?
1st Reaction = FILIPINO Style TEA PARTY!!! Now that's creative. 👏👏👏 2nd Reaction = why not SLICE the bread edges BEFORE adding the spread etc? 🤔Less waste ... Next Tea Party = yes, a more RICE-centric theme would be unique. Lots of possibilities = Sweet + Savory + Spicy varieties, like suman, malagkit, biko, for starters. 👍🏻 More ideas = using Saltines, Graham and other CRACKERS instead of bread. Good job, Jeanelle!
Almost 1k likes -wow
I laughed so hard at the end with rice! I'd do the same! 🤣🤣🤣
WE WANT RIIICCEEEE
Hahahaha. Rice is life!

The beginning tho.. It's like a defense happening for a thesis. XD
WE WANT RICE 🍚!!!
that looks like sakra pongal(literally jaggery and rice) 5:25
No rice is like my family having no fajita for the bbq 😂
Try pimento cheese

This is incredible!! Everything looked so good except for the Star margarine. I feel like that actually ruined the whole thing. Margarine just lowers the quality once you have it and it's terrible for your health to boot. Hopefully the next one will just have butter. How about bringing some sweets from the Sugar Bowl of the Philippines, Bacolod City? Piaya would be so great with tea!
we. want. RICE!
U should have used baguio ube jam, or malunggay scones, and barako coffee 😅 come back to the pinas janelle...
nothing beats rice XD
WE WANT RICE! WE WANT RICE!
That rice had to happen in the end 😂 Filipinos don’t do tiny finger foods.

The only thing that's not Filipino is the tea. Where's my afternoon coffee.
😭😭😭
These are NOT easy to make. Damn! You're good!
First ❤❤❤
Iv tried many scones but i cant find one i like. They are all gross to me
Good effort, but could be better.
I don't think "Kakanin" belongs to desserts.
Why do we have such a desire to consume unnaturally colored objects?
What’s up with this camera recorded on a potato phone
After eating everything at the end you still want rice 😂 makes you absolutely filipino
