The ULTIMATE EDC Combo! I Honestly Can't Believe How Well It Works!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I go over what I have found to be an extraordinarily good EDC (everyday carry) with the idea of being able to work on and fix things in the event that tools aren't around or available. While I used to carry a Leatherman, I have found this combination of tools to weigh less, take up less room, and do a better job with many tasks.

Silent K in Knipex ?

I totally agree with you. I told someone in the comments of another video when he swore by the Leatherman that I had the pliers break right off. I carry a knife anyway so I just added small pliers and a little screwdriver kit with the tips in the handle that used to be at the $ store and put good tips in it. Very lightweight and my keychain has a Sharpal with 2 slotted knife sharpener, hook sharpener and ferro rod @ a few ounces and a small spare knife

A lot of tools can be toted in a backpack, so to me it makes sense to consider combos of more than two small tools.

I run a similar combo but instead of the utility fastback I carry the knife version (48-22-1540). It’s slimmer, the driver is longer, and I prefer a knife blade.
I was gifted the Milwaukee. I carry it every day and I find a use for it almost every day in my job.
Right tool for the job springs to mind.
I have been carrying this combo for over 2 years and have only added to it! Carried the Cobra XS 4" for about 3 weeks, and upgraded to the cobra 5" plier. Huge difference! More comfy insulated handle, locking slider, and that little exta leverage goes a long way. Still highly pockable. The fastback 5505 is a solid edc! Love mine!
The Milwaukee is gold Jerry, gold.

😂 great show.
Its been my edc for a year. Love it. I added a small flashlight and a pen. It all fits in a small magnetic pouch with a belt clip. Love it.
Nice video. I bought into the knipex plier craze a year ago and have carried them a number of days throughout the last year however I’ve only used them once that I can remember. They are indeed a quality tool and a welcome alternative to the weight of Leatherman Wave. I really want to love them but for me I just haven’t had that many real life use cases. Enjoyed the content and agree the Milwaukee fastback is also an awesome tool. 😊
I started with the Milwaukee Fastback with the razor but moved to the Milwaukee Fastback 48-22-1540 which I love.
I used the Milwaukee fastback with the screwdriver and mini Knipex as a plumber for years. Loved that combo.

Ive carried this combo for about a year now and its great. The knipex pliers can break loose alot tighter bolts than i thought they would and the Milwaukee fasback is pretty much a full sized screwdriver in your pocket.
I have been carrying the Cobra XS pliers for a year, which is a great tool. Doesn't replace my Surge MT. It compliments it.
I have found the plyers to be used more than the others, have used it when I need to twist wires where I could not twist them with my fingers, have used the file to file down torn finger nails, and Phillips head and flat head screw driver. Your plyers are a game changer. Good vid, thanks.

Made that same switch myself, about a year ago. It has proven to be an excellent decision.
I have the Milwaukee fastback 6 in 1 & a small set of Diamond slip joint pliers ... Works for me ... Thx
That is what I have been using for months now. I add on a flashlight, but other than that, what is in my pockets at work is that particular combo. That is the single greatest utility knife you can get. Combine that with some Fiskars Carbon Pro blades, and you are in for a treat. By 'that' I am referring to the Milwaukee. It has the screwdriver holder in a more neutral location, and it is frickin' amazing. It's actually worth using.
Fantastic. I’ve carried an old handy knife around my property for years. If I needed another tool I could always walk back to my shop. Time to upgrade and save myself the time wasting walk. Good video.

In fact , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land. I love my Milwaukee knife. A fantastic tool.
I like it. Will add pliers. I’m using the tough built knife with the pry bar instead of the bottle opener on the Milwaukee. Is great for paint cans, unscrewing eye screws, etc. Adds noticeable bulk though
Very useful vid. I will be getting a pair of knipex. Doesn't look like they have the wire cutter though but superior in every other way.

Yeah, Leatherman pliers don't fit into tight locations as the Cobra pliers, but they do work ok when you allow the bolt to move into the opened jaw area closer to the pivot to get better holding power. Hope this makes sense.
I have been using all sorts over the years, but I currently use three different combos. The fastback (non razor version) is fantastic and I carry it around the house. I especially love the screwdriver, the blades one handed action and the clip that makes it sit perfectly in your pocket. Then a victorinox super tinker when out and about, which is mostly handy for the scissors, toothpick, tweezers and knife, and at work I use the heavy victorinox SwisstoolX multitool on my belt with the Victorinox ratchet screwdriver set in my pocket. I used to use Gerber multitools but they were all garbage, and other single handed knives but without the screwdriver, which is important, I feel. I love the idea of carrying that little Knipex pliers too, that would complement my fastback or my swiss army knife. 👍
Work EDC: 6 in 1 fastback Olight arkfeld pro Knipex 5” cobras I could go without a lot of the features on the fastback but the flathead on it is great for prying at stuff. The arkfeld is super bright, the laser is great for pointing stuff out to coworkers and the UV light is perfect for charging up glow rods before I send them. I wear the 1620 utility pants at work so the cobras live in the back utility pocket and come in handy for all sorts of things. Outside of work EDC: Hogue Deka/RSK full size or Exceed design Tirant razor Olight i3t 2 with a 10440 Knipex 4” cobras. Knife just depends on what I want to carry but I like hogue and the exceed design stuff I3t 2 is the best flashlight for the money in my opinion. Cheap, light, small, does everything I need it to. The 4” cobras don’t get used much but also don’t take much room as they live in my 5th pocket and disappear. They can pull out splinters and do a lot more than regular pump plier stuff.
You'll NEVER get me to part w my Leatherman! Damn thing's been used at least 2 of 7 days a week for about 15 years when myself and others haven't had the tool they needed at at that time. Edit: the slip joints are FANTASTIC! My favorite small pair is called RoboGrip.
I’m an electrician, I always carry my Milwaukee fastback with the screwdriver on it. I also own the Klein version of the fast back and I keep it with the rest of my tools. It fell short to the Milwaukee fastback.
I love the Kinipex Cobra and the Fastback and Klein equivalent. I’ve carried that combo. I do love to carry my little Klein Stubby screwdriver also. I do love my Leatherman Charge though 😂
SAK Tinker usually and a pliers micro tool in my 5th pocket sometimes.
The Milwaukee fastback screwdriver system there with the ball bearing is garbage. It is well known that the ball bearing comes out easily and now there is no retention on the screwdriver bit. I have an older version of the knife that uses a different system to hold the bit in. Milwaukee needs to revert this feature back to the original way of holding the bit in.

Thanks for the good video. How are you carrying the pliers? Just loose in your pocket?
@HowToHomeDIY
29 күн бұрын
I do. I wear cargo shorts a lot so I usually put them in one of the lower pockets. If you wear jeans they fit almost perfectly in the tiny pocket above the regular pockets that nobody uses. And then they also make a pouch that can go on a belt. So personal preference really. But in the pocket I don’t even notice they are there.
Those Pliers look good for my Motorcycle tool kit.
If the Knipex had a wire cutter this system would be perfect for me.
So if Klein and Milwaukee had been >really< smart, they'd give you a bit with a smaller flat blade and a Robertson on the other side. I mean, what's the point of the wire stripper if you can't also tighten a back wire clamp, screw it into the receptacle box, then put a face plate on it?
@iNENDOi
8 күн бұрын
So change the bit....
I'll give you something to discuss. Wire strippers will nick copper wire even if done carefully. Use the #12 slot to strip #14 wire, try it it works.

@@bruceglisson1720definitely looks like you not only missed his point but confirmed you missed it. He’s not literally saying that multi tools should replace real tools to work on a vehicle. Nice video. For many people the combo you devised may be superior to the Leatherman. Your combo is certainly versatile and the Knipex pliers do look superior for general use. However, Leatherman makes "industry specific" multi tools that your combo just doesn't have. You can get a Leatherman with drivers for the irrigation industry that has Toro, Hunter and Rainbird blades as well as the Philips and slotted blade. Your combo cannot replace that type of a tool.
Sorry can't use any of the choices above....my company issues us a pair that self retracts when the thumb or grip of the hand is not on the body of the knife.

Industrial maintenance mechanic for 30 years here. A utility knife is useless for me. Not to mention pretty wasteful to use a utility blade, then throw it away. The many brands of water pump pliers are useful in the right situation, but not the least bit useful for EDC. Like others have said above, you'll rarely use them. Not to mention the utility knife is already bigger than a Leatherman, the you have the added bulk of carrying the pliers as well. Just not practical. A multi tool is much more useful for EDC and using in a pinch. If that doesn't work, then you go get the right tools for the job. I was also an advanced EMT/Rescue Technician for 15 years. The utility knife and pliers would have been mostly useless in that field. Pretty much all the EMS, cops, and even the hose jockeys carried multitools because they're much more useful. 🤷
