If you leave the dongle in the dock then you can just connect the dock to your PC and it will both charge the controller and act as the wireless receiver. You don’t have to use the dongle separately. That’s how I have mine connected.

Honestly, it would be way more useful if they would just make one controller that supported Xbox, Switch, and PC, and then just charge a bit extra for what ever extra chips they might need. Just price it somewhere between the Ultimate and an Elite controller, and add some modularity to customize per player preference, or platform preference.

I agree with you MLP. I received the ultimate Bluetooth pad for Christmas, it's very nice, but after testing it back to back against my Pro 2, I prefer the Pro. Maybe it's because we're of a certain age now, and can't let go of that basic SNES layout 😄 Because of that, and as you say, hopefully 8bitdo will release a Pro 3, adding to it the good things about the Ultimate BT, but not removing things such as the replaceable battery. Thanks for the great content & all the best for 2023!

I get why the don't have a removable battery anymore. Previous controllers had a major flaw where the battery wasn't secure enough. So the controllers would tend to drift and disconnect unless you push the battery before every play session. And I do mean every play session. That was the only way I could make sure that the battery wouldn't get slightly dislodged

You see, I have an 8BitDo SN30Pro+ and I love it for retro, 2D gaming on either Switch or my PC, but it isn't my favorite for 3D games. The reason I'm so excited to get my hands on the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth controller is that it will also seamlessly work between my PC and my Switch, but will handle the 3D games in a more comfortable hand position. I would not have thought to realize that hall effect sensors in the SN30Pro design style would be perfect for those players who do enjoy the "Playstation" layout for their 3D games.

@@billythekid9357 I'm simply not a fan of the symmetrical layout of the sticks for most 3D games. I've spent more time with the Xbox layout, and prefer my primary movement controls underneath where my thumb naturally lands, which is where the d-pad is on the SN30Pro+. This is truly a personal preference thing, and should not dissuade you from looking into the controller.

I love mine but the plastic on the front feels cheaper than the pro + so it was a little weird. It works perfectly and feels great for 3d games, obviously for 2d you want the pro + or +2. Only complaint is the d pad started squeezing when I push up, not sure how to fix that, but not a big deal since again the analog stick layout is more for 3d games

I bought the 2.4G to replace a X360 usb controller for PC, still works fine but the dpad is ass and I wanted more than 125hz polling rate since I got a 165hz monitor. People reported 200hz and 250hz for the BT and wired versions respectively, but unfortunately the 2.4G turned out to be limited to 125hz in both 2.4 and wired. I can live without hall sticks or Switch Pro mode gyro and with a slightly lower battery life, but a low polling rate as well is one compromise too many for 50€, so I sent it back.

Can anyone tell me why the controller that is 70 bux cannot combine all modes into one like the pro2 or older model they had in the old days? I know hall effect might be costing more but they use to do xinput, dinput, switch, ps1classic, genesis mini, all in one nice package, that mean you can use it in your PC, switch, ps3, ps1classic, sega genesis mini, android mobile, iPhone, ipad, all with just one controller! What happen to those day? I must be really missing something here. Something that cost 70 should be really the ultimate controller that have all modes and can at least connect to the ones I mention above. Otherwise it's not that ultimate IMO. It's nice, but not ultimate for that price.
