8BitDo is easily, imo, the best third party controller you can purchase. Build quality is always awesome.

Agreed. I’ve got an embarrassing number of 8BitDo products (I’m a retro gaming addict, apparently), and have yet to have a bad experience with them.

Not to mention that they are the best bang for the buck.

I like their products, generally, but they are NOT known for their build quality. The number of people who’ve had their 8Bitdo controllers simply break after a year is quite high. At AliExpress prices with coupons, they’re nice values, but not at everyday Amazon prices.

They are some of the best controllers out there, but I always get issues within a year, such as face buttons sticking, or D-Pad inputs that I'm not actually pressing. Not sure why.

Too bad they stop support for their older products, the OG sn30/ sf30 (the ones that were clones of an snes/ super famicom controllers) no longer work with switch, not even using their 8bitdo controller adapter (wifh claims to work with all 8bitdo controllers) Meaning that at one point the controllers 8bitdo no longer update will stop working with switch.
That Jade green looks sick. I hope they come out with a ice blue color eventually.
I can't really justify buying another SN30 Pro (I already have three), but I like the look of the Jade Green one. And it's a small detail, but I think the gold text works well with that green. I think that combination might increase its appeal for Zelda fans even though it's not technically a Zelda-themed controller. For anyone who may not have used one of these controllers, I can say that it's surprisingly comfortable for first-person and third-person shooters. The sides of the controllers rest nicely on the joint at the base of each index finger as you use the analog sticks and trigger buttons. And that SNES-style d-pad obviously makes the SN30 Pro a great choice for side-scrollers. The only game I don't like this controller for is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Holding the A button while trying to use the right trigger for drifting is uncomfortable for me on the SN30 Pro.

I love my 8bitdo Ultimate for stuff like that. For example, SD Gundam Battle Assault, The "Boost/Dash/Dodge" button is A and your attack buttons are the other three, so trying to combo correctly and dodge accurately and simultaneously is near impossible, but remap one of the back bumper triggers, and you can use it as your dash button and never have to slide to "A" to do any of the fancy stuff. It almost made the game too easy after that. Another thing with those back buttons, Stuff like Metroid Dread. You want to spam your fire button sometimes, and others you want to hold and charge. The times rapid fire is more useful are WAY more prevalent, so using the ultimate software to set rapid fire on the shoot button for that back trigger, you can again still jump and dodge ect while not wearing your thumb out rapid smashing the button.

Yea, I'm really liking both the Jade and Purple, although the purple more. But I also have 3 of them already, and then 2 Pros, a Pro 2, now an ultimate too.

DO IT! I got the jade one and it's better than any of the other sn30 before it. I have 6 sn30 controllers now with zero regrets. When the fam comes over for a Mario Kart whooping, they're always happy with the controller situation, all skill no excuses. I have one for the glove box and one for work. 😊

I got the Jade Green 7 days ago now. Instantly underwhelmed by the Dpad. Coming from the 2DSXL, which has the best possible Dpad ever, the 8BitDo Dpad is just meh. It's great for JRPGs, which I bought it for. But fighting games and platformers, I wouldn't recommend at all Squishy, stiff, whole dpad can be pushed in a little in the center, left/right inputs an up or down almost erry time when sliding side-to-side. The texture isn't smooth, either, making it a bit too grippy. Might just be me since I'm used to the glossy, smooth, clicky Dpad of the 2DSXL
Thank you for this helpful video. I never knew that my 8bitdo controllers needed an upgrade. I found out that all of them needed upgrading. I also agree with the SN30 Pro being easier to travel with.
I really hope they release more transparent colors like the jade green for the pro 2. Having 4 different transparent colors would be great for local games and I love the purple.

These are my absolute favorite controllers! I hope they make them in an even more variety of colors!
Always loved the 8bitdo SN30pro! Great controller to use for pc and switch with awesome customer support if needed.
The green looks amazing, I honestly couldn’t ask for a better looking controller.
They are beautiful was debating on getting the basic one and now i need these
Great video. Love the product review. I'm going to check these out.
I love these controllers that mix both modern and retro designs.
Thanks for the video, made me remember that I already have a SN30 Pro in a drawer!
Just ordered a pro 2 controller from them can’t wait!
the green one reminds me of a Vtech cordless phone I used to have 😊
That jade green is lookin fresh, definitely going to have to snag one of those
Nice little travel controller, had it for years. Used to you it with android for emulation. Got an older SF30 pro with the super fami color way. Updated to 2.0 and paired with the deck easily after that update. I like using it in Switch mode because that gives me gyro. I really miss gyro when using external controllers on the deck.
I really enjoy these controllers, sometimes I just want a smaller controller. I grew up with the nest dog bone controller. These colors look great
I have a couple of these too and the only complaint I have is that the buttons have a glossy slick texture to them that does not handle hand oils that well. Maybe they could improve them with either a different button set or maybe some texture or concave shapes.
I’ll always think of these as funtastic colors.
I'd like to see them use the hall effect sensors in all of their controllers, especially these.

they do come with hall effect now.
I have an xbox ultimate wired controller and it's been simply a solid, reliable backup for when I forget charging my AAs. 8bitdo is great!
My favorite color is green. My wife's is purple. Instant buy for us. And they work great!
Awesome controllers. Use mine all the time when I'm not at home.
just beautiful, I have one and is amazing!
I still have two 8bitdo sn30 pro controllers, I actually used them so much over the last 5 years that I broke the rubber membranes in the d-pad and the buttons on both of them so I'm ordering replacements. I also have two M30 controllers, 3 of their usb dongles (two Ver 1, one Ver 2) and an 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller which supports wake up when paired directly to the switch!

Love my ultimate. I was blown away by how much of a difference Hall Effects make. Why Sony and Xbox didnt beat them to the punch on this ill never know. It used to be, you went over to your friends house and you got to use the BS "rock candy" or "MADKATZ" off brand third party controller and whined because YOU knew damn well it wasnt as good as the actual Sony/Nintendo 64 one. Now days that trend has swapped... Now the third party 8bitdo and Gulikit are VASTLY better then the first party sony ones. My how times have changed...
Am i the only one who sees the old clear green xbox controllers in that jade green color! Woah total nostalgia trip
I set the controller to Switch mode when using for Steam Deck, that way I can utilize the gyro with the controller. X input wont have gyro so kind of sadge, but Switch input works really well just gotta make sure you dont turn on the "use switch controls" in the control settings and works just like x-input (layout wise).
I'm a big cloud gamer. Always working and house full of crazy kids. So glad I made this purchase. Works with my switch...GeForce now on my phone..and a decent amount of Android games. Fits right in my pocket. A perfect companion for my s23 ultra.
Those controllers look awesome. I want one.
I have the original gray one of this and I really like it for fighters and nintendo online in small sessions but I ended up getting the Ultimate Pro controller cause it is much more ergonomic. it's a great looking and functional controller I just miss the handgrips.
Might need to get one of these for my brother as a birthday gift. Btw there's a weird sound thing going on around 1:37, thought you might want to know
I bought the purple for my son and his retro I’d pocket 3+ and I got the black one. These controls are great better then the Nintendo pro controller hands down. 😊
which was the game you played at the ipad? looks nice!
Looks nice, they seem to have the SFC uniform XY (unlike us snes ones), which is neat, but always thought joysticks on these is a bit odd/niche
I'd like to buy one, that jade color looks awesome. From what I understand though, they **still** have not changed the underlying pcb to fix the d-pad issues (example, registers up or down when pressing right/left and tilting slightly up/down (note: not just on a diagonal). It was driving me insane playing Deadcells until I figured out the problem wasn't me. Thankfully it's an easy fix/workaround, but this many iterations later they should have fixed the board already.

Never heard of this, mate. Sources?
I wonder what it would look like if you took both of them apart and swapped the buttons. I like the Purple/Green combo, I have a modded GBA like that.
That jade is truly beautiful
they look so good
Hall sensors and a protective travel case. Then I'm sold.
Have 3 8bitbo products, have gifted several.
Just brought this and only plan to use it for 2d retro games. I love the switch pro controller for modern games that don’t require fine d-pad use. With my use case, would you say I need an sn30 pro 2?
I would love a transparent black version.
I am enjoying my 8bitdo that I have connected to my Mac Boot Camp and playing my Steam games
Hey, so I have a question. So I was thinking about picking this up for travel as a good compromise between the pro controller and something like the 8Bitdo Zero 2. But I have an eight hour plane ride on which I might like to use this controller. Is it possible to put it into wired mode, connected to a switch if one desired? Thanks in advance.
Like the videos, only one note it's n64 funtastic purple not atomic purple
How do you improve the lag? I use mine with the dongle and the lag is crazy. To clarify, the lag is really bad on the Genesis Mini Console. Is this a symptom of the console?
Thanks for the reminder to update firmwares. I'll spend the next billion hours plugging in my.. 8 or 9 8bitdo controllers one at a time.
I Just buy 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth (full box new) from a chinese guy from shopee for about 41$ :) super good for the price !
Hey, have you came across any Bluetooth small controllers that resemble the Saturn controller?
wish it had more colors though i am going to see if their update with the other new one that just place out
How does the comfort / feel of this controller compare to the 8BitDo Pro 2? I've noticed that using the left analog stick for side scrolling 2d games (which don't support using the dpad!) is rather uncomfortable. I'd much rather switch to the switch pro controller in that situation.
if they release the Pro 2 controller in jade green it will be an instant purchase.
Got this and another controller that are showing up today. All the controllers available and they are missing the one feature I wish some one would add, extra buttons. 2-4 more buttons would really be great for PC. Stack Start and Select and get two more buttons on each side. When I do end up using controllers I always seem to need just one more button. So 1-3 spares after that would be even better.
Should have cleared it up that D-input mode is for old games on PC. So if you play any games before the 360 days, they're bound to support D input. The first 3D GTA games come to mind and also I know they're not very popular but if you have played the original releases of the Devil May Cry series upto 3 SE or Resident Evil 4 (I say not popular because most people just emulate the console versions or play the re-releases), they only accept D-input and connecting an XBOX controller or other X-input device will not work.
Was there a Bluetooth controller thats close to neogeo gamepad?
I hope it goes on sale for Prime Day. I want to play with Vampire Survivors.
Welp, you've sold me my first controller with my computer. I want to buy some old school games on steam and I don't want to use my keyboard. Controller is the way to go.

Ergonomics are bad for long sessions on these. Get a Xbox series controller with a wireless dongle for pc gaming at home. I have ps5 controller, sn30 pro, Xbox series controller and a bunch of 3rd party Bluetooth controllers. Xbox was best experience hands down
they look cool, but I refuse to buy anything without hall effect sticks
8bitdo's are like candy, I've also bought some of their wireless pcb's for original saturn and SNES controllers which I don't think many people realize they sell on their site
hi would you recommend i should buy the SN30 Pro
I have an SN30 (regular, not Pro) and had to use paper hole reinforcements to keep the D-pad from registering wrong inputs. Is this still an issue?
I love my pad, I just wish they made a larger version
i didnt need one but still bought the purple one just now lol 8bitdo is too good
Can these be used with the wireless adapter for de SNES?
Does this controller have functionality of a physical wired connection, or does it only charge with the cable connected?
Can we get a chance to see all the stuff that you have?
Wasn't planning on spending money today but lol here we are
Man I wish they'd do a Sega Saturn 6 button model with two thumbsticks, L/R 1&2. As a fighting game fan it would become my new go-to quick!

I think Retrobit is making a controller like this.Retro-Bit SEGA Saturn Wireless Analog Pad
Can you power on the Switch through the control? Also, I'd like the ability to keep it from turning off when not in use. Hate when I put it down, it turns off, then I have to repair my 8BitDo SN30 Pro+
I really hope they've fixed the D-Pad on these. I've had 2 of the pros now and both of them have directional bleed in their D-Pad, which makes playing some games with them just a bad time. It's a shame, because the older FC30/SN30 has really solid D-Pads that have very little bleed.

These controllers are so overrated, I've never tried a gamepad with a worse d-pad in my life, and the buttons are so noisy loud, they feel like cheap hollow plastic
🧐From an aesthetic perspective, 8BitDo should have the inputs buttons a different color than shell itself. I prefer my buttons to have contrast on my controllers.
Once paired with the switch, can it turn on or wake the device?
6 button option, please 8bitdo. Look at this man playing Capcom fighting games...
I have a black Pro 2 but I would buy another one if they made one in that jade green.
They work on the snes and ps1 classics?
Does it have rumble functionality over BT?
I have problems with x input on the Steam Deck so that Nintendo EMUs don't recognize the gyro. Bill from Nerd Nest suggested switch mode, so i used that and now all works a intended. Therefore I would suggest switch not x input mode on the Deck.
I got one to try and use it with everything, but the idea fell flat on its face because it won't work with most sony stuff. Still a great controller for pc, but since I got two dualsenses now, I'm glad I sold my pro+ to a friend that had issues with his. Now he has a working one and extra compatible pieces.
wish these came out sooner, would of bought the purple one to match my steam decks backshell

What is your experience with 8bitdo joysticks and drift
I tried to use the xbox edition of this one with steamdeck and it was so leggy :(
Any issues with the steam deck?
All the Bluetooth controllers I have used have had too much latency. Would be good to see latency results on these reviews, as these look really nice.

@@Narding5566 Excellent, I’ll consider one of these then. Would still be nice to see the figures though.
@Youtubax

@@alias81c I own a couple of 8bitdo’s so I can talk from my own experience. There must be some kind of latency obviously but it’s so marginal that is virtually impossible to detect by our brain. Kind of like having a gaming monitor with a 1ms of latency, you just simply don’t notice it at all.
Can you remap this controllers buttons in the switch settings?
Does it work with the Retron 5?
Can it wake the switch when on standby tho?
Are the triggers anolog?
I wanna see you do a shoryuken with ryu
i think the R2 and L2 are not analogue triggers so it's either on/off, might be wrong tho
How’s the dpad comparing to pro controller?
I bought both the atomic purple and black one in the Pro 2, too opaque and not transparent enough. Though, I do like the gold on purple/green touch. Edit: Doesn't mean I'm not buying them, totally am. After the NES whatever I think I own most if not all 8Bitdo products in all colors save for the Zero 1, I only have the Famicom version. Edit 2: I miss the NESPro fn30
Hope they do an orange or red.
How do 4 work simultaneously for PC? Do they support 4 players?
The ultimate is by far the best controller for your Nintendo switch and steam deck 💫🏆
4:45 How do I do that with my Samsung galaxy? I tried, and I couldn't.
If these were Pro 2's, I'd be interested. But these without the grips hurt my hands to hold.
Imagien you obly have steam deck as a pc. 8bitdo would do a big W by doing a linux updating firmware (not even for button mapping, updating would already be INCREDIBLE)
Will this work on fightcade2?
what is the ultimate software?
