I thought the ref was literally on Dina's payroll. Not only did he stop and look around and wait before even starting the 8 counts, killing time, he would step in between the fighters during the fight so that Andrea would have to go around him to get to Dina. He also said after the fight that when Dina was using the ropes for support, it should not have even been a count but called instantly for Andrea. At least it was semi-corrected after the fight and Andrea got the belt. Dina got one too, so only thing is to get a better ref next time.

I believe he was trying to make sure he can separate them as Andrea was very aggressive but they kinda collided a lot meaning not a lot of hits actually made it to their bodies or head it went behind and around and was against rules So he had to separate them before continuing Also Andrea seemed very eager to fight so he wanted to make sure she stayed away and waited till he was done the count cause she seemed to forget to go to the other side of the ring and wanted to go straight into boxing which would mean more separations I could be wrong tho but they definitely need another ref next time They had another ref but he most likely took a break At least both participants got a belt

KZread is full of examples of tough guys off the street getting demolished by ordinary boxers who have trained the fundamentals for years. The point is the same on the chess side. A person can be highly intelligent and good at puzzles, but an average chess newbie isn't going to learn to beat a 1600-level player overnight no matter how hard they study.

Hikaru is right, the average adult between 20-40 years old would stand less than 1 minute against a real boxer, less than 30 seconds even. Also this fight was a shame, Andrea got robbed, she destroyed Dina. The referee did his job very poorly.

@@DionMango stepping in to separate a grapple, when there was no grapple, did take time off the clock. Had he only separated for actual grapple, and for standing counts, that last standing count may have been the boxing win. Although, I am sure he was doing what he was trained to do. No salt toward him, just something to consider going forward.

Andrea has only been to a boxing gym like five times in her life. If she really wanted to be a boxer, she might be fairly good. She's got the energy and learned a lot quickly. But whatever, this is all just a fun event. People are taking it all way too seriously.

According to Wiki: "The current minimum requirements to fight in a Chess Boxing Global event include an Elo rating of 1,600 and a record of at least fifty amateur bouts fought in boxing or another similar martial art." Now, obviously that doesn't apply for meme events and exhibition bouts like Ludwig's event. But if you wanted to be the Chessboxing champ in an official capacity, them's the rules.

How long are players allowed to stall in the chess game? Of course at some point they are going to run out of times, but a boxer might get 2 rounds of boxing without any threat of defeat on the chess board, by not moving anything. If you are able to knock someone out in two rounds, you don't need any chess.
