The TROUBLING Interrogation That Almost Cost Her Life | The FULL Elizabeth Smart Story

“Don’t make a sound. Get up, and come with me”
During the night of June 5th 2002, 14 year old Elizabeth is abducted at knife-point while her younger sister sleeps by her side, in the same bed. The next day, almost 2000 volunteers search for the missing teenager, but it’s too late, she is already hidden deep in the woods with her two captors. Elizabeth is forced to marry her kidnapper and is held against her will for 9 months until one stranger notices something odd about a girl’s weird costume in the street. Today, Elizabeth breaks her 10 year silence.

This case was seriously mishandled by the Salt Lake City Police Department. They went after an innocent man and falsely accused Elizabeth's father and uncle of having child pornography on their computers (the police later admitted there wasn't any and refused to say why they made the false claim). A lot of heads should have rolled, but didn't. Shame on those officers.

That has also happened in Michael Jackson’s Case. They falsely accused Michael of having child pornography, naked Children in Books & Magazine’s PUBLICLY! But the FBI who made their MJ Files Public on their Page, said that they didn’t found anything! Nothing. Not a single Piece of evidence and that statements made my Santa Barbara District Attorney Tom Sneddon were false! Some Police Departments are really lazy and shouldn’t work when they can’t even do their Job right.🤦🏼‍♀️

So sad that a man died of an aneurysm believing and thinking he was the prime suspect. Goes to show again how some detectives shouldn't be with that title. How do they lay their head at night knowing their dirty work has caused that man's death?!!!! All because they wanted to pin it on someone without doing the actual work! So sickening by all means. Did they even do a public apology even after his death? If not, I believe that's the least they can do after they lead him to his death. Smh

Brian David Mitchell came to our neighborhood with his weird cart-thing when I was young. I’m 2 years younger than Elizabeth, and this was before he had abducted her. I remember walking my dog (Bullmastiff) with my dad through the neighborhood and seeing him. He looked so bizarre, in a white robe thing, and just carrying this big cart behind him. He had absolutely crazy eyes. His wife was with him. The neighbors let him stay in their driveway, and everyone brought him food and stuff. It was a heavily LDS neighborhood and they all kinda took him on as their charity case, giving him big baskets of fruit and everything… I remember when we found out about Elizabeth going missing, and when she was found, and then seeing him again on the news and it was just like holy cow. That’s the guy. I’m so glad we had a big dog. I don’t know if anything would’ve happened but I am very thankful that my parents were so skeptical and wouldn’t let me anywhere near that guy, or let me walk alone while he was staying in the neighborhood.

What an attitude, all male dogs were afraid of her. They would attack, she had an extremely agile neck and would usually bite their lip and twist til they yelped and then walk off all innocent. All my dogs were cute, but they did kill animals when called for. I would see her and say " short face...long neck" her whole shape would change. We had bears at our country place, she was so lazy in her older age, she wouldn't even get up off her side sleeping on the porch... She had a very very deep bark... Bears would run like a bat out of hell. There was also wolves, even in her sleep on the porch she would always howl at around 6 PM, and they would answer from different directions. She wouldn't even wake up... Dogs left to their own instincts can do really well, better than trained. She cornered one "neighbor" that entered the house... No blood , but he wet himself, and that was the end of that snake sneaking around. Yup, this girl should have had a dog, not that stepfather... The sad truth. Cheers 🍻

Trauma makes you question others motives, intents, personality traits, character etc... For the most part you are not the shy little girl you once were, once you are free. You do become more courageous in some ways but not in others. But I will say this respect peoples wishes and do not ask many questions. i.e. One time after work hours one place I worked decided it was after work hours that it was o.k. to bring alcohol to a bbq that they threw for all the workers but asked that there be designated drivers and they also said that seeing that it is after work hours that they could bring a designated driver that could eat free but would only serve alcohol to workers. I choose just to go home and do not appreciate people asking where are you going I just said home, told to stay and said no thanks anyways, why? Now, stop it right there it is nobodies business why. Respect the name that people wish to be called by also. e.g. some people do not like to be called the childish shortened version of their names because they do not like to associate or go back to that little girl name anymore. One thing I know my children will never be around drunks, I am protective and they will never be and have never seen drunks in their lives. Just respect peoples wishes and stop and think before you ask people questions. Why I question peoples motives is because sometimes people do shorten my name and I request they do not do that and they argue about it and say that my name sounds harsh and not gentle. I do not care for your opinion, others I have confessed what I went through and I tell them that girl is gone and none existant and in the past and can stay there. Then I find some still choose not to listen. Some choose to tick you off and trigger you anyways. People can be pathetic. If coping is making one stronger than yes you do become better able to cope with problems as there are things you see and hear that are similar or reminders everyday. i.e. beer stores. I hate them, but they are not going away just for me. Going out to eat and people order beer I do move to a different table not to see it and make my evening more enjoyable. Do not question me.Yeah, I watch this stuff, but as I said there are those days I get curious about personalities as I see there are many kinds of people in this world and life does not stop and one must go on. I queston people that give people the benifit of the doubt and think maybe you will regret that. Unless you are a child, people do and say things all for a reason, I will question motif. I will also not let those who try to put me down know that things bother me. We have no choice but to carry on.

Another little girl (a black girl) a few years younger than Elizabeth went missing the same day 1,000 miles from her location. FBI we’re almost immediately involved in bringing Elizabeth home and even offered a 200,000 reward. But for the little black girl it took 3 days before the FBI got involved and when they did they only offered 10,000. This is what we mean when we say our cases are not handled the same as those of non black women and girls and this is why so many were outraged at the coverage Gabby Petito received in comparison to other black people missing around the same time as her even after she and Brian were recovered their coverage went on and yet this little black girl was never found. And yet knowing this and knowing the black population sees this in 2022 cases are still handled the same. It’s disgusting.

As Elizabeth says, "You are not defined by the things that happened to you". YOU are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Winnie the Pooh is credited with saying those words. Though the bear may be a work of fiction, that sentiment is not. Please, take care of yourself, you are your own best asset. Know that I am cheering for you (and me 😊)!!

This is the third of your vids I watch. I love how respectful you are, many true crime channels are incredibly disrespectful (looking at you "That Chapter") making jokes through the story or describing horrible abuse (which is for pure shock and doesn't really adds to the story). Also the editing is great ! You just gained a new sub !

Yeah, he’s got an entertaining personality but definitely should be putting it to use on more appropriate content instead of horrific crimes. I also dislike the abundance of true crime channels where girls are doing their make up (or anything where their face/personality is unnecessarily and excessively focused on) whilst recounting true crime cases like it’s a story time video, really distasteful. True crime channels in general have a big issue in treating these crimes as exciting thriller or mystery who-dun-it stories and not the most horrific thing to have happened to another human being. I do at least appreciate some that purposely leave out sex abuse details (especially when the victim is a child) as there’s no need to hurt the victim or the family further by spreading it for shock value, or to potentially be something a freak wants to hear about for the wrong reasons. Definitely need to be careful true crime content isn’t accidentally being consumed for the wrong reasons by the wrong people.

Ugh - the whole “we have a choice” narrative at the end really irked me. Current data suggests of our resiliency (whether we thrive or suffer after trauma) is genetic. Nurture/non genetic factors can influence it too of course but to suggest everyone just has control over if they suffer or not is just toxic in my opinion. Validating pain heals more than shaming someone for still being affected by trauma any day.

@@PsyopAgentProvocateur I wish I could give you a big hug!!!! I can’t imagine how painful that must be and has been for so long. What happened to you is exactly why it irked me so much. It’s great she is doing great but I think that there is so much “it’s a choice to be happy and not affected by trauma” narrative that exists and too few people are validating and understanding. Because the whole choice narrative just shames victims more (especially victims suffering in silence). And as I mentioned, current data suggests our resiliency is largely genetic - so it being far less of a choice (than is preached by inspirational speakers and in positive news stories) is simply untrue from a biological standpoint.

I also feel the same. To this day I still hold anger over my trauma, and it is very much a part of my life and who I am. I'm glad so many people can overcome that, and live better lives, but that is not the reality for everyone. Pushing this narrative of victims needing to be strong and thrive despite our past just puts a horrible expectation on people who really just need comfort and support.

Dear Suzie, I'm so so sorry you went through those experiences. I agree; it must be much worse to be hurt by those who are meant to protect you. I will continue to pray that you are healed completely from these horrific traumas, and that someday you find the safe home you seek. I'm not extraordinarily religious but I believe so strongly in the power of prayer and power of our own unconscious minds, and in the healing power of love.

Hearing surviour stories always help me. I went though abuse when I was little, but I did everything in my life afterwards to never be a victim, to never let my life be held down by that person. I moved on. The experience shaped me but it did not define me. There were days where I wondered if I let myself to stay as a victim how would my life be now? I knew someone that went through a similar type of abuse, sadly, for him he held on to it, he would constantly be angry, blaming all his actions on his experiences. He stayed a victim even though it had happened many many years prior. I tried to connect with him on a level, but it felt like he didn't want to move or help himself.
