The Mysterious DISAPPEARANCE of Adam and the Unexpected Connection to Elizabeth Smart | Documentary

“One day, I kissed my 6 year old son goodbye, and never saw him again”
John Walsh never wanted to be a man hunter. In 1981, he was forced to look for his missing son only to find him dead. When 47 year old Ed Smart appeared on national TV pleading for the return of his 14 year old daughter, John took the weight of the investigation through America’s Most Wanted. This is what you haven’t seen on the show.

the most important part of the story, Elizabeth smart’s little sister gave the full description of the kidnapper and provided the sketch, then months later out of nowhere she told her family and police his name was emmmanuel, and they wouldn’t believe her. The nerve of the shameles police department to take credit after the fact.

Yeah it's funny how people who aren't going through it can sit back and judge. Like Casey out of California she wasn't found until she was over 18 and had two daughters living in the backyard of her kidnapper none of us could ever understand the fear and torture these people go through and the mind games that they play on their victims.

@@marciayoung1094 She was kidnapped at 11 and found at 29. When she was rescued, her daughters were already 15 and 12 years old, having spent their whole lives in isolation with Jaycee. She taught them everything that she knew since they weren't allowed to go to public school. There were over 60 instances in which police could have discovered her or her daughters years earlier but instead they never checked the shed where they were held, even outright ignoring a call from a neighbor stating that they saw he had two young girls in his backyard despite KNOWING he was a sex offender already on parole. That case is truly one of which the police failed her. Over and over again. And the legal system is going to fail her again, as Jaycee's captor is eligible for parole in 12 years, despite previously not going to ever be eligible. Her family was incredibly proactive in trying to find her, but the police were just grossly incompetent.

You want to hear something outrageous? Some people were outraged by John Walsh jokingly suggesting putting explosives in child offenders rear end and detonating them if they harmed a child again. I, for one, think that is a great idea. Some people also were outraged by the bill he lobbied for that created the sex-offender registry. The people who were so outraged by these things raise the redest of red flags for me.

In broad daylight. It pisses me off that I dont remember what happened and that they lived next to us until I was moved to another home. I always felt weird around them, and especially their dad. My sister got lost at a flea market. She was three and the typical quiet kid that wouldn’t leave my mother side even if asked to. She was holding on my mums skirt while she looked at some items when she suddenly stopped feeling the pull so she turned and she was gone (flea markets are super packed in my city, to the point people move as a mass) Luckily there were police officers there and they all started looking for her right away. My sister was relatively easy to spot because she was blond with green eyes in a country with mostly dark haired people. They found her shortly after with a woman that was exiting the market. She first claimed she was a relative, and when confronted she said that she found the lost kid and just wanted to take her to her home and then she was going to call the police. The fleamarket had policemen almost in every corner and even had their own post at the market, so going home to call the police made no sense. Just a minute more (or a less recognizable child) and my sister would have been out of the market and god knows where.

I was about Mary Katherine's age when Elizabeth went missing, but I'll always remember Code Adam because my mom was retail worker and even we were shopping, she would stop everything and search and told us to look too. Once I was nearly a Code Adam because I got separated from my mom, but I went to a Walmart employee and got help because a teacher's aide trained us on what to do if we got lost in a Walmart (it was her part time job).

My cousin and her husband took their 3 year old to Disney. He has attention disorders so they kept the wrist leash on him the entire day. They came to a slide and unleashed his wrist, watched him climb the slide and ran around to get him and he had already vanished. The park immediately locked down that section and found him. He had just wandered off looking for his parents.

I was in the toy dept at Walmart with my daughter when they announced a Code Adam. I saw the little girl that they were looking for. I walked over and said "they're looking for you." With tears in her eyes the little girl said "I know, they do this all the time." I helped the girl find an employee who took over from there.

"God" or whatever you believe in did NOT take Adam Walsh away from his daddy.😥💔 Like most things, that was someone else's free will.💔😥💔 God gave his father the strength to help find other missing children. To not let him nor his son die in vain. And it was still his free will to choose to do so. 😥😥😥 I hope everybody going through hell tries to use it to do something better in this world.

I’m a little younger than Elizabeth Smart, but her kidnapping is the first memory I have of that feeling that “this could have happened to me” or “this could have been me or my sister” and it’s because her photo was ALL over the place; more specifically, the school photo of her (at 3:04) had the same backdrop as the one that was used at our school for either spring of fall pictures (I can’t remember which one it was, but it was the one that wasn’t used in our yearbook). But I had seen that backdrop SO MANY times with myself/kids at my school that it felt like she was one of us. It felt so close that it really burned into my child mind that something horrible like this could happen to anyone.

Everyone’s talking about Adam Walsh, and it is such a sad case, they all are. At Walmart where I work we have codes for certain things (like code yellow for violence). Code Adam was put in place for any missing children in the store, nobody’s allowed out of the store, employees walking around everywhere and looking, etc. I never fully knew the case of Adam until I worked there when I told my mom and she explained it to me. I have never had to call it, but it has been called before and anytime it does, my heart just breaks. We did find the child everytime. It’s just sad that we have to have a code when a child goes missing in the store, whether they accidentally walked off from their parents, or someone took them. This world is so cruel.
