When i knew my girl was pregnant all the beliefs about being patient , having faith and turning the other cheek became meaningless to me im spiritual not religious and i understand the duality of this life . im an entrepreneur i had an idea for a company and i was gonna do things right but after that experience i started moving fast no limits cause hiding inside a church aint gonna feed my child .

I had the same experience. I watched just a bit of it, stopped and was thankful I didn't pay to see it in the theater. But one part I did see mirrored my own childhood and it drew me back in. I now own the Blu-ray and watch it regularly as a husband and a father to boys.

I started almost pulling my hair out. I tried to remain patient but I couldn’t. I was now wondering how the hell I made it through the movie in the theaters. I would recommend watching this movie but as soon as you start to get bored, just turn it off. It doesn’t get better.

One of the greatest films of all time. Period.

Every year or two, I come across a film that so thoroughly enthralls me in such a fashion that I leave the theatre almost in a trance - rattled, shaken, and broken into speechlessness over its emotive power. Into The Wild, The Master, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Synecdoche, New York are a couple examples. This movie falls firmly into that category. Not every film requires a clear-cut explanation or definitive closure. And yet, if a film can impact you in such a powerful way, it deserves recognition - and this is one of qualifying films.

I come back and watch this trailer every few weeks whenever I feel like I've lost hope in humanity, due to all the horrible things going on in the world. It lifts my spirits and enriches my soul. I can't explain it, but it does. I only wish that everyone could see it as I do, and feel the resonance in your own heart and in your own being. Never has a movie moved me so much. Terrence Malick has created more than a masterpiece. No movie, in my opinion, will ever reach this bar. It is not possible.

There's a fine line between art and entertainment. Too much entertainment and you lose the deeper meaning - too much meaning and people lose interest. It's incredibly difficult to create a movie like this where you both care about the characters and their story and also change with them as their story blossoms. For me, it's not only that the movie itself is a triumph, it's also that it somehow completely recreates the same sense of tenderness and longing far after you've seen it, and regardless of how many times you've seen it.

"Someday we will fall down and understand it all.....all things." That was a very moving quote.

You forget about this movie, and then you come back to it and remember it is one of the best things you have ever seen in your life. It's a spiritual experience to see it, no lie.

@@HAL--gb6uf I think you make a good observation. For most people a movie is a story told visually in a linear sequence. When that linearity is gone ("TOL" being a good example) it completely throws people off. I can imagine some people in the theater muttering, "WTF?" during the scene with the dinosaurs. Then at the end the scene on the beach at dusk, w/ characters reassembled out of time. Even the dead young brother shows up. More confusion -- that was too much for some to accept. I don't have problems with any part of the movie -- partly because long ago I read Robert Venturi's book "Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture." Also because practically all movies are made of thousands of individual shots pieced together.

First watched this movie years ago before I had any children, I was blown away and reflected on this movie AS A SON imagining myself in Sean Penn's character's shoes. Watched it recently now that I have a 3yo son, I was emotionally destroyed this time and reflected on this movie AS A FATHER imagining my son as Sean Penn's character. This movie has different meanings to oneself as you watch it over the years as you experience new milestones in life. Especially into parenthood.

I cry profusely every time I watch this movie. I can't explain why. I just feel the presence of God and his consoling Spirit.

This is my favorite film. My wife totally hates it. It is full of symbolism, existential questions, ideologies of good and evil. All illustrated by arguably the most beautiful cinematic imagery ever created.

This is the most life affirming movie ever made. Excellent actors, excellent operator, excellemt music/soundtrack. Watched it several times.

This is the best film in the history of American cinema. I really didn't think film-making could get better than Malick's The Thin Red Line, but TOF even more boldly explores the joy, pain, uncertainty, and ultimately the beauty of life that 99.9% of other directors are either unwilling or are numb to seriously exploring.

Seriously, this is truly the greatest trailer ever made!

"Unless you love, your life will flash by". That's so scary to think since I have no love. It gave me chills.

The love spoken about in this film is the Unconditional Love, the pure one, the one you give without any conditions or attachments to the loved part (people, things creatures..) it doesn't have to be dedicated to a specific person, or a lover as a condition. Love = gratitude = appréciation regardless of the situations and conditions that present itself. You ought to begin to love the pure person that is your own Self, from there all love flows, love everything around you even the sinners, love that life you're living with all its contrasts and challenges they are only there to heal you ( see how did the mother feel about the death of her child eventually... ).💙

Impossibly hard to describe, or define. I was at times both bored, and completely enthralled by this film when I saw it in the theater. Frustrated, amazed, confused, yet mesmerized. I thought about it many times over the days, weeks even to come. I had a hard time telling people what to think when planning on seeing it. This isn't a "movie", it is a work of cinematic art. That's the best I can do. I would have expected nothing else from Malick, who admitted that you have to let the film wash over you. So very true.

It might sound strange to say this, but I watched this film when it first came out and it was so profound and had such a huge emotional impact on me, that I'm actually scared to re-watch it, because I know I feel never be able to experience what I did back then a second time.

This is genuenly so relatable. I have the same exact feeling with the film Blue Bayou. I suppose it really does depend on the time in place you view a film and how it can emotionally impact you. Based simply upon the possibility of relating ceremoniously towards the time and stance you are in at the time.

that's a shame. i've seen this movie maybe 20-30 times, and every time is a different experience, and I find as I get older and go from the child to identifying with the mother and father figures, my own conceptions of spirituality that i truly could appreciate this movie.

I watched the heck out of this video and downloaded it to my iPod. I still think of this trailer and the music.

When I first watched this film ... I was blown away at how perfect every scenery and script was created. This is a Priceless movie that no human alive should miss. I truly believe that there will never be another movie in history that could top the making of this film. Not one flaw from the beginning to it's ending. FIVE STAR GRAMMY! ... Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain ... you all deserve a standing ovation for this and so does the children who played their parts so well too ... thank you for being excellent Actors & Actress, you are appreciated.

I remember seeing this in a cinema. It got so much bad publicity that the cinema initially removed it, only to restore it with a disclaimer. I love this movie and the soundtrack. Zbigniew Preisner - Lacrimosa is amazing.

It makes sense (in my opinion). There are 2 paths in life (nature & grace, as she says). You see the big bang, (this is the part not related to "feelings"), you see star clusters, then millions of years of evolution, you see the dinosaurs, then one dinosaur has a momentary flash of compassion to the wounded one, you see evolution/facts, you see the asteroid ending life, and then life renewing. This is Brad Pitt with his son. Reality. Life is hard, you have to carve your path. Survival of the fittest. Evolution. Then you have the "feelings" part of the love of a mother. The compassion not based on evolution per say, but just because she is a good human being. Both qualities are passed onto their son, who wrestles always with feelings of needing to be strong (evolution), yet also having compassion (feelings). No one really knows what awaits us in the afterlife. But one day, they say, we will fall down and weep, and understand it all. All things. Every single time I watch this trailer, I get very emotional. I personally cannot describe the feeling of joy and love this movie gives me. Even the trailer has a profound impact today, and I've seen it over 50 times at least. My biggest regret about this film, is that it will not be experienced by people. They will either never watch it, or watch it and dismiss it after 20 minutes as a nutty mess. This shouldn't be called a movie. And it's on a higher plain than to be called Art. This is a work that should be revered and as absorbed as strongly as the Bible, if not more so. Evolution is not wrong. Religion is not wrong. They both can co-exist, and indeed, they are one.

This movie should be required viewing much like "The Iliad" is required reading...100 people could watch this movie and have 100 different takes on it. It's a masterpiece....

Terence Malick always delivers profound deep films that haunt and stay with you

That’s the case with all terrence proyects, they are not movies, they are sensorial experiences!

I didn't know what to expect when I saw this film, but I was absolutely blown away by it and couldn't stop thinking about it for months. I forgot about it for a time and then it came to mind recently. I remembered how powerful it was when I saw it and how it transcended space, time and reality. Now I'm watching this trailer and thinking about when I can watch the full movie again.

Days of Heaven is one of the most beautiful film I’ve ever seen. Tree of Life is one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever felt.

I will forever remember this trailer and the score. This must be one of the best trailers for a movie i had ever seem so far

The only movie where every single frame looks like a painting. Emmanuel Lubezki's masterpiece. Terrence mallick is a genius.

This movie isn't the type to watch when you feel like entertaining yourself or on a weekly basis. Since this came out I've only watched this around 3 times, still, this movie depending on the circumstances, speaks to you and hits you harder than anything else. Truly a work of art. Might not be the best movie, but might be the most important.

It IS a contender for the best movie.

Dear Mr. Malick and producers of this film, thank you. You changed my life. When I first saw it when it was released I didn't understood it straight away, but I was aware that I witnessed to something very special, greater then life. The experience of it grew so much in me that it made me attend film school. I understood that unless I pursued something I loved, my life would have flashed by.

It's a Terrence Malick movie so every single shot is like a work of art.

I feel like people either rate this 0/10 or 10/10. I can see why both are correct

I have absolutely no idea what this movie is about but I was completely hypnotized by the trailer, couldn't take my eyes off of it. It's beautiful !

I keep coming back to rewatch this.

The camera work in this movie is out of this world

The greatest visual experience in film history.

I remembered. Seven years ago, when I was 11, I was so excited of watching this. This trailer captivated me in A LOT OF WAYS, especially from its beauty. From then, I've really developed the love of moving pictures. This film made me wants to create films... :) What a masterpiece.

I love Terrence Malick and his films.

It's been 13 years since I watched Tree of Life on the theater and I can still remember the feeling this movie caused on me. Even the trailer is a piece of art. Thank you, Mr Malick.

The most boring movie I have ever seen.

I've been onto Brad Pitt's movies lately. Each one crafted in its own way, austere,chilling and profound. Brad Pitt is a living legend.

The best movie of the decade, without any doubt.

Some movies you can't forget like it will be there with you upto the death. This is that movie.

I was transported instantly to a place of great introspective intensity so quickly and this was just the trailer. Art at its most potent

Saw it twice when it came out, cried both times. At the second showing I went to, the girl behind me was giggling at some scenes, its not for everyone which is understanding. Its more art than movie.

Imagine people seeing this trailer in 2010 not knowing what was the film about and not knowing how this film would affect cinema and art in such a good and perfect way

This trailer makes me cry.

A unique movie experience (thank God). Wanted to stop watching early on...but couldn't...zoomed in deep, way past the need to be entertained...right to the spirit & soul....glad I kept watching...

Finally finished the movie, im speechless...

I have watched this movie about 50 times and I see something different in it almost every time...

This is the best film ever, and frankly I had an ayahuasca retreat recently and this film made PERFECT SENSE, it's everything.

This is the greatest trailer of all time for the greatest movie of all time.
