The tragic death of Koro Mullins and the four year battle to find answers

In 2019, Ngati Pikiao man Koropiko Mullins died on the operating table at Wellington Hospital after a routine heart procedure. In shock, his whanau began asking questions: how did it happen? And, what can we learn from it to prevent it happening again? Answers were not forthcoming from medical authorities, and this weekend - after 4 years of waiting and a full Coronial enquiry - the Coroner’s findings and recommendations were finally made public. It’s fair to say there are some pretty damning observations. We’ve been following the case from the beginning.

My mum had worked many years for this lovely man who was an excellent boss, had great standards with work and was well known to be head of the shearing industry for Dannevirk. Known that Taupo has a reputation for shearing and as well as Gisborne and parts of the South Island. Really good proud hard working environment for our elders in their young adult days when they entered the work force. Stories to tell of one’s met on the way- bad and good. Sorry to hear of his passing and this be the back ground story. Bloody medical team. I enjoyed partaking young to sit around the fence marvelling the sheep and the productive work, climbing on the stacked wool bales, travelling early in the morning remember the smell that one would surely get used to 😅☺️, all preparing and having meals together, etc. Good times.

So sad and upsetting this still happens, unfortunately my whanau had a very similar experience with exactly the same health board, my beautiful sister died under their care in 2014, she was only 46, toughest years of my life fighting the dhb that i still struggle with today😢

Why werent the police speaking to those who administered the air. Medical proceedure and or unexpected if its unexpected yet youve performed this proceedure 100's of times before. Does what happened fall within the parameters of "...medically unexpected..." The Coroners Act section 14 ss 2b (ii)? NO. Who did not remove the air from the needle before they injected the needle? Obviously. Thats who the Police did not detain for questioning.. why? 2 hours went by and they interviewed non surgical practitioners Mr Coroner. Whats up with that?

Can we look forward to a follow up show highlighting the plight of the vaccine injured? Seems to me NZ doesn't give a shit about those people. Sad and shameful
