Congrats on hitting 8k subs, it looks like you'll be at 9k before the week is over. Always enjoy your insight and videos. Lots of buzz around picking up a goal tender, but I think the leafs issue is still rooted in defense. I think that if we picked up Saros, he might end up looking like Mrazek out there as this team still struggles to clear the net and just doesn't play the strong box-out defensive game that Nashville and Calgary play (I know Saros is much better than Mrazek, but still). That said, I think the addition of Schenn, McCabe (and Holl trying to play more physical,) is a step in the right direction. The buds seem to play with much more swagger and confidence when Simmonds is in the line up, so having everyday players like ROR, Acciari, McCabe and Schenn (kinda an everyday player) who play with sandpaper and who look out for their teammates, will work wonders. When the team gets back to playing a game of team defence like they did earlier this season with all the injuries, then I don't think anyone will be pointing fingers about the team "needs". I think this team just needs more time to find their new groove at this point. But if we can bolster our third line so that they can start to dominate their match ups, then by all means, however, I think McMann or Holmberg might be part of the solution there.

I would totally avoid Domi. he is a hot head on the ice, much worse than Kardir's unpredictably. Domi is also got a track record of poisoning the locker room and gets traded

I want a veteran, non injury prone goaltender to replace Murray. After that I feel quite confident in the group to make a push

Agree completely….but who ? Anderson from buffalo? With korposalo gone i am not sure what upgrade to sami we can get. I am legitimately scared after that oilers game.

Scott Laughton actually may be who I would try to target if I could. Term is still 3 years after this, C, LW, 3rd in scoring on the Flyers and only makes 3 million. Idk how you make it work but maybe there is a way. That is a good option for a middle six LW and if they can't get ROR on a team friendly deal next year would be a good 2LW or 3C. Only issue is I think Flyers said they dont want to get rid of him

Agreed. No trading for a goaltender. And just this last few minutes, Bertuzzi went to the Bruins. Ugh! Kaaaaaahnnnn! Big yes to Domi or Crouse. Whichever Dubas can swing, and let next year sort itself out after this season is done. ALL IN !! 🤪 edit: As long as we aren't letting go Kneis or another identified prospect we currently have. Let go the draft picks though. Boston spent a 2024 first and a 2025 4th for the rental of Bertuzzi. Tell me Leafs couldn't have done something like that?

I think Florida just said they are thinking about selling now. So a Verhaeghe or Duclair would be amazing imo. Duclair would be easier to fit under the cap but I like Verhaeghe better personally. Either is better than most options out there. Also sidenote, way too expensive but Vrana would be amazing too if he found his game. Not sure if he is worth giving a flyer too with another year left but his 5v5 production the past 3 seasons was outstanding. He has just really struggled this season Edit: Calgary is weighing their options of being a seller now too. This is looking better for the leafs. Would LOVE Dube at 2.3 mil this and next season and still being a RFA. Another sneaky one might be a player that Sutter seems to not like in Ruzicka. Only 23 and making just over league min for this and next season

Ever since they got the 1st round pick I have been trying to think of a LW they could get for that middle six, preferably second line and literally Bertuzzi and Domi were the only options I could find and not high on either tbh. Obviously Bertuzzi is off the board anyway now. Not 100% sure about Domi but I'd take him. Idk about a first though even if it is like last in the round (because I know Dubas will trade down and probably get 2 picks out of that). Really struggling after all these moves. I think at this point their best bet may be to just hope on Knies (which I was totally against the whole season). Unless a new seller pops up, not sure what to do

Joseph Woll is better than people know. I would run with him for 3 or 4 games. But Samsinov has been good as well.

Domi said when he was with montreal that he hates toronto. I dont want him for that alone. He is not the answer for the leafs and we don’t want someone who doesn’t want to play here

Don’t want domi, and he doesn’t want the leafs which I’m fine with. Overpaid and overrated. I think they will have to move Murray out with that first but look for teams with a good 3rd line lw and a solid goalie and that’s the trade he’s looking to make.

Gustafson, kerfoot, holl plus maybe a pick or something- back crouse and vejmelka

What about Anderson from buffalo as a backup

Domi is gone to Dallas.

Not too many teams can out-skill the Leafs, but watching them regularly get outworked continues to be a problem. This team has a TON to prove. Do these players have the heart and the will to do some damage in the post-season? A half effort won't cut it.

Max Domi would be a great addition and could wake the leafs up when they get sleepy or stuck

Saros/Samsonov would be the most confident goaltending duo we have had maybe ever. I don't trust our goaltending in the playoffs. We don't know what Sammy will be like when that pressure is on

Yeah they're done. Who else is on the market worth getting (that we can afford)? Gustafson has been terrible tonight, and the new forward hasn't clicked yet. As an aside, Matthews has been awful as well. We ain't getting past Tampa this year boys.

That is ok but who plays LW on the first 2 lines. The reality is that Bunting is a 3rd line player anyways. Way too much attention was put on trading for defencemen. Team defence was really good. Among the best in the league. Maybe not now.

It’s 8 minutes now and it was edited out. I don’t do this for the money. If I did, I’d be pumping out a lot more videos. But when I do dedicate 3 hours of my time, I’d like it to be productive. If you knew how much less a video made when it’s under that 8 minutes, you’d understand why it’s so important. The video with Bertuzzi was live on the channel for 15 minutes. Some probably got a notification for it with the thumbnail with him in it. I wanted to give an explanation and didn’t have much time this morning

I want to know what Winnipeg is doing straight up. They sit in the Wild card spots in the West. I'm interested in 2 players from them Hellebuyck and Adam Lowry. I personally doubt it but I'm interested in to see what they do.

Maybe David Perron would be an option. This year and next, so off the books before Matthews and Nylander. Having a good season. Played really well with ROR in the past. 4.75M AAV. I’d still be looking for some retention, but I think he’d be a great add.

Maybe the Leafs could trade for an actual stud defensemen instead of all these bargain bin pieces Dubas has acquired.... Somebody like Matthias Echolm....oh wait a better GM already traded for him.

McCabe is in no way bargain bin. Just because we got him and Lafferty for way less than Edmonton paid for Ekholm doesn’t mean we didn’t get good players. Ekholm is a good defenseman, no doubt, but he’s a bit overrated at this point. 33, Doesn’t hit much, doesn’t block much, can’t run a PP, makes 4.5M per season more than McCabe. I’m glad we didn’t go that route. Nevermind that our D is in general just way better than Edmonton, so our need was just not as dire as theirs.

According to the hockey writers. Domi came to the leafs in the fall for a much smaller contract than he currently has with Chicago. Dubas turned it down. The problem with this team is it's built like a boy band, not a hockey team. Realizing you need toughness at the trade deadline is not a good policy.

Sam Bennett would be good.

Too many moves. It's going to backfire. Too much pressure, different team, silly rules that need to be altered.

Truthfully there's no real goalies out there that are anymore reliable or better! Go with firepower and score our way out of this dilemma

Please no max domi

I get that some people want hold off the goalie trade, but it makes more sense to trade a high value & under used forward (like a Kerfoot), plus a defensemen we no longer need (like a Holl), to get a goalie with a decent track record at the NHL level (does Griess fit the bill here I wonder?) We NEED A GOALIE we can rely on. Murray has been good, but literally every team knows that one push into his crease, or one casual bump & fall on top of him will be the end of his playoffs. Samsonov on the other hand only play his best when he's used in tandem with Murray. As for Woll, there's just too much risk with nothing to indicate he's going to be a good NHL playoff goalie. This leaves us currently overusing the ONLY goalie I feel secure putting in net, and we have no ''plan b'' for when another team decides to run our net. I hate that Dubas has formed the best playoff roster we've had in the past 2-decades, but ignored the most important position of all, hoping that ''It'll just work itself out''.

Goaltending is going to be the cause of first round exit. Its not quantity of trades but quality that will make difference. So far, we are accumulating other teams failures aside from O'Reilly.

I've been saying it for a while now I want 1 of 3 players on the Leafs. Tyler Bertuzzi which isn't gonna happen now cause he's a Bruin....Max Domi or Sam Bennett would be great playoff performers for the Leafs.

Keep a eye on JVR and Scott Laughton?

Bobby McMann and Alex Steeves should be called up if they don't fix the left wing problem.

Andersons contract is brutal though. Not worth that at all. He also only really seems to get up for games AGAINST the leafs, so idk about that

yes I agree get Domi. He is a great player and definately has some grit to his game. yes trade Kirfoot.

Konecny, Deslauries for Robertson, 1st 2023, Holl or Kerfoot , with 50% retention for Konecny.

1. Deslauriers contract ain't worth it on this team 2. That is an awful return for the flyers. Konecny is probably their best player and they aren't retaining next season on him

Leafs could have drafted him, but Hunter traded down for worthless more picks.

There really isn't a market for kerfoot unless the leafs pay a premium to trade him it makes more sense to package kampf with a dman and the 1st and go for someone like Crouse. Kerfoot is now 4th line centre..Crouse 2nd line winger travares back at 2nd line centre O'Reilly 3rd line centre zar holds place for knies

Domi please. He’s the sandpaper and difference maker we need.

I'm starting to think the core players are the problem to be honest. None of them want to win or get after it, they lay eggs and drag everybody down with them. They have an identity, and that identity is failure

I don’t just talk sports. It’s television production. There’s tight deadlines and there’s standards. Not saying it’s a labour intensive, but this is the busiest time of year. It’s mentally tiring and stressful. Things happen at a moments notice and the deadline is always ASAP.

The leafs are done in more ways than one….their current roster with the trades will not gel together in time for a long playoff push….look at last night the core finally got help and the still don’t show up on time same story every year….getting sick of the excuses as well …..Covid bubble …out goalied….so on and so on excuse time is over what I read is the player see their coach as a joke and o not respect him it shows in their play they are not concerned about being in his dog house …..that’s the real problem with this team …they need a tough coach who they fear

Obviously Schenn doesn't play as much as his partner. Rielly seems to do better when he has like a big defensive guys but I do understand your hesitancy with Schenn

@@Stoney037 It means a player that was a first rounder that has really developed into a good player is forced out by a much older, slower UFA. Exactly the same reason that Sandin should never been traded. He is already better than McCabe in many ways and will only get better.

Columbus doesn't want a second high paid goalie for next year. Also what a shit return for their captain who has term still. Y would they give up draft picks? Even if you messed up and those are suppose to be what the leafs give up I really don't think that is good value
