In case anyone else wanted to try jerky: My personal tip would be to add dry rub afterwards. I like a bit of a flavour explosion when I make jerky, so I add some hot and sweet seasoning after its done drying. Brown sugar, salt, cayenne pepper and a small amount of red chili flakes, and rub it in.

As an experienced rocker box builder and user I would recommend putting a few riffles on your top mat and have the matting between them (I usually use 12mm square dressed pine) and miners mass as the mat. All of this will increase the top mat recovery and help it spread the material out, which increases the bottom recovery as well (ie. run more material or clay-y stuff between clean outs) while still being a more authentic rocker box

Classification is also important not just for particles competing in the sluice but for the actual force of water required to move the particles to be different enough to allow separation. Considering a round-ish particle of black sand, and similarly shaped piece of gold, the gold can have 1/3 the diameter before the force becomes the same. Classifying to 1/2 causes there to always be a significant difference allowing the gold to be separated.

This video was a tad crazier than usual. Still funny though! Good to see Fern get some quality air time, but she was being naughty by being in the kitchen! Girls in fur coats do Not belong in the kitchen. They may only look in from the side and only if well behaved. Looks like the whole crew had fun Chris! Mark from Melbourne Australia
