Oliver’s history lessons were amazing.
Historical, cultural, entertaining, great food, and all from you two charming wonderful people !! It really doesn’t get better than this 😊
As a Turkish person and an architect, thank you so much for representing İstanbul and lovely as you have! I have seen and read about those works many times, but listening to their story from Oliver was an amazing experience!
Thank you for taking us out of Europe! This is such a special episode.
History, architecture, art and food! Loving these videos. Thank you to everyone involved ❤️
This was amazing! I must go! I cannot believe how much I just learned in one vlog! Thank you Stephanie and Oliver!
The Istanbul series do not disappoint!!! On the contrary, they are amazing, absolutely fully entertaining and enlightening!!! Please keep this channel going, dear Stephanie and Ollie!! ❤🙏
Breaks my heart as a Greek to watch our beautiful church turned into a mosque. That’s one thing everyone in this world should respect. Places of worship should not be used politically. Thank you for showing us it’s beauty that has been masked.

The christians also didn't respect the pagan groups & places of worship that they invaded, converted, and propagandised for their own gain.

I actually loved what Atatürk did with it. Coming together and share the love for God and not dividing people.... Well sadly Erdogan uses everything was his political agenda.

Yes, as an Australian, I have huge respect for Ataturk as well, as he accepted our fallen soldier dead at Gallipoli as ‘sons of Turkey’ after the First World War. And the Anzac dawn service we hold every year on Anzac Day at Gallipoli for our fallen soldiers is with the permission of the Turkish government. And religion has always been used politically throughout history and even today, so well done Ataturk.

Well said! As a Catholic, my heart is saddened to see the desolation of God’s holy Church. Pray for peace.
Ohhhhhh My Goodness....... I just didn't want it to end....Ollie - I LOVE it when you go all history nerd on us. Please continue to do it as I learn so much. Steph - you looked so beautiful in that shawl on the ferry although a tad chilled. I have friends that are in Istanbul right now and I shared this with them so they can learn a thing or two if they missed out on something. The history just astounds me. How did they ever get that ceiling done in those times without all the incredible technology we have to us today. Just incredible. And of course Turquoise is from there ! (said making myself with a wet fish) it all makes so much sense now, Thank you again, and again and again. A frustrated traveller from Australia.
You are both so knowledgable and entertaining.
Stephanie, you look splendid in that black dress. Love that you two have a very respectful friendship. Many blessings and safety in your travels. Thanks for sharing.
This is the best travel vlog on KZread.
You two are hilarious together. I look forward to these enchanting excursions every week.
This was an absolutely fabulous travel vlog Olly and Stephanie❤❤❤❤ Thank you😁
So lovely! Istanbul remains one of my favourite cities. The history, the people and the food is just the best.
I had the privilege of living there for over a year when I was 16 but that was over 40 years ago. I hope to get back there - it's on the bucket list. It's an amazing city with amazing people and history. Great job, Ollie, with telling of the history!
One day in Istanbul is not enough! Loved this so much. Ollie….your knowledge is astounding. More more more, please. Loving this series. Love to you both. ❤
Istanbul is truly elf the great cities of our planet.
Wonderful and inspiring as ever - thank you both🙏❤
You have tweeked my knowledge of history, thank you, love this channel and your friendship with each other :D
You guys are the best! The way you’re living your lives, breaking the social programming and stereotypes by being open and free with your choices. You put together a great travel vlog and doing it your way! I love learning about history, art and true freedom from you both 👍🏻
You two have gradually melded. So funny sharing a room. I’m loving this. You are both adding so much to this Vlog. Thank you
Luv that symbolism … taking weapons and turning em into artwork … that’s so cool to know the history behind Turk and where the naming of the color came from
Good evening Travels With My Friend
Absolutely amazing. I learned so much. Thank you Ollie.
Thank you these are so not just enjoyable , but so educational too
There are some of the best Roman city sites in Turkey, but it is wonderful that you can still see parts of that culture in Istanbul.
What happy memories you brought back of my previous visits to Istanbul on both sides and sailing on a cruise ship at night towards the Black Sea, which sadly is now not possible.🇬🇧🇨🇳🍷🍷
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing
what a learning adventure you took us on the art history and not forgetting that fabulous restaurant ❤ and of course oliver best drop the aunt or you may find yourself swimming home if stephanie has her say 😘
These videos are simply enchanting. Thank you!
Just love you Ollie, you are one of only a few that can put that lovely stunned look on Stephanie’s face. Great vlog ,great friends 🤗
this was like an art history class! took me back!
Love all the history. Those mosques were just incredible. Thanks so much for taking us on a wonderful trip.
Fabulous trip you two! Love it!!
I think Oliver would be a great travel companion. Now I have to see Istanbul ❤
Another fantastic vlog - I so enjoy everyone of your vlogs 😃 thank you from Canada 🇨🇦!
Thank you for this amazing tour, and for sharing your dinner. For those of us who don’t have access to amazing restaurants enjoying beautiful dishes vicariously is a wonderful treat.
Ollie is the most intelligent man in this world! Cannot believe how much he knows about each country! Stephanie certainly does her homework as well! Together they do such a grand job. Have learned so much! Just have found more of an appreciation than I had before. Think you will save money this way, by sharing a room, and can imagine it would be easier for Stephanie to rest with a dear friend like Oliver right in the same room, and protecting her from what, we probably would never know, but it is a nice idea anyway! Thanks to both of you for taking this time to travel and share so much history and the fantastic times you do share together as you tour.
I love travel videos where people have done their research, good work, I really enjoyed this.
That was very Nice! So entertaining!
Stephanie and Ollie, as your Istanbul travel vlog brings out in impressively colorful detail, the impact of the exquisite beauty and grandeur of its architectural wonders never fails to overwhelm. To think that at one time I had an opportunity to reside in the city permanently but in the end I returned to California. If I’d stayed on I might be an Oriental/Turkish rug shop owner in the Besiktas District these days. Who knows?! One thing for sure, I would have offered Stephanie and Ollie a super deal on their favorite rugs.
Thankyou. That was truly wonderful x
Traveling with a friend is good for the soul ❤
From start to finish, this is a fantastic episode! So much to take in that I watched it twice! Thank you for this..

Yesssss, his pajamas are incredible beautiful, so is his knowledge🍀 I feel like I’m in a live history class❤
That was wonderful. Oliver you are so knowledgeable. The views from the ferry & the Asian restaurant were amazing. Thank you for taking us along for the journey. Hope you both got back ok 😁👍🏻
Thank you again!! A glimpse of the beautiful historic and enigmatic Istanbul - by two of my favourite vloggers!! such a pleasant and engrossing lesson in history - so looking forward to the next one. Blessings as always
THANKS STEPHANIE, during this episode, I quickly switched to Netflix and added "Midnight at the Pero Palace" to my list of future viewing. Great tidbit, turquoise....who would have known? Seems so fitting now...Turkish Blue...!!!🙂 Cocktails in Europe, then Dinner in Asia....how exciting! (Did you need Passports???) I actually laughed out loud when I saw the sushi platter...😂
Ollie, be careful. I saw mamam (Isabel) face arising in Stephanie when you called her Aunty. The history lesson was brilliant. Ollie you know you stuff. Great vlog.
Fabulous trip, loved and learnt such a lot. Thank you. Love you two best buddies.😊❤
A Long Time Since I was In Istanbul. But I Remember Going To The Blue Mosque. I Stopped Off There On a Cruise in The 70s.
What a timely, delightful upload! My daughter is presently exploring Istanbul so this informed me about the places she is sending photos of. She voice messaged me from the ferry home from the Asian side where she has been regularly visiting. She's planning to check out the restaurant you recommended after watching this. Thanks from us both!
Fascinating and lovely. Thank you both!
I Love getting to travel along with you both!❤
As I am Greek this was very interesting history thank you Oliver and Stephanie ❤
Oh my, so much fascinating history.....it has left me wanting to know more!! Loved this video, so interesting and beautiful...cannot wait to see, learn and indulge in your next fabulous video. BIG thank you.
Thanks Oliver and Stephanie for this amazing vlog and the history lessons. I had no idea of how far the Roman Empire reached. Cheers from 🇨🇦 Canada
This was absolutely fab! Thank you to both of you.
Just love the history from Ollie. I spent a wonderful two days in Istanbul a few years ago and visited the blue mosque, Haghia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. Right up there as one of my favourite cities, after Venice. A long way to come from New Zealand!
Oh my gosh you guys make me laugh, especially sharing the room oh I laughed. And yes Ollie has some fancy pjs, but I wouldn't expect anything less with Ollie. And thanks so much for the history class just so informative!
I so enjoyed the trip! Thank you both.
A whimsical and educational glimpse into the convoluted history of the region. Especially appreciate the interweaving of history with Venice and other European countries. Serious history lesson + fun + good company with good eats. Phenomenal!
We live in Turkey and Istanbul is one of my favorite cities. You did the little bit you showed a great justice!
Istanbul was to be my retirement trip then that big quake happened, and I had to go to america west coast instead... Thank you for taking me along. Beautiful!
As a big golden age mystery fan, a lover of historic buildings and a travel agent who’d been booking the Pera Palace for clients I looked forward to my say there immensely about six years ago. Oh boy was I disappointed. The location is extremely noisy due to the busy traffic, it was always difficult to get anything to eat other than breakfast as the restaurants and bar areas were always closed for private events and to top it off the general attitude of the staff was you’re lucky we let you stay here. We left two days into our week long stay for the Four Seasons Bosphorus, which I cannot recommend highly enough if it’s in your budget. Four Seasons Bosphorus was absolute heaven on earth though it lacked the British historical connection.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. ❤❤❤
This is a brilliant travel video of Istanbul.❤
Thank you for reminding me of all Istanbul has to offer.
Absolutely incredible history, narration and video of this amazing area of the world!! Great job planning Oliver!! I love that you two can share a room like that. I’ve got friends like that and it’s so wonderful to be able to do that. Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
My favorite new channel on KZread...Keep up the good work!
So interesting, once again. Love what you are sharing, thank you.
Thank you SO much for taking us on this wee adventure, especially as it's stormy, wet, dark and oh-so-cold outside in my neck of the woods at the moment. What a delight it was. Love, Jacqueline from New Zealand 🙏🏻
From episode one [and with each following episode] I've said, 'Wow, this is my favorite episode!' Each time for a different aspect. And this episode is no exception...thank you for creating this channel!
This was wonderful! It was so interesting that it was a shock when it came to an end so quickly! I must say that Stephanie’s dinner looked so good! I am curious to know how the sushi was.
This was so amazing so much, special facts.
Fantastic trip! Love these videos!!!❤
Thank you so much I am enjoying this series it’s fabulous 😘💕🇨🇦
Absolutely loved Olis historical knowledge on all the gorgeous buildings. What a fascinating and beautiful city. ❤
This channel keeps getting better and better. Better then Travels with My Aunt? Definitely.
I love you guys' Roman around Istanbul.
I LOVE this channel! Please keep it going, more people will catch on. 😊
I love this video - and I love hearing all the unknown snippets of history brought to us so enthusiastically. Love the beauty you show us, and love your enthusiasm and knowledge. What a city, what a history.
It's such a personal visit. This was better than any travelogue I've seen. Thank you!
It’s so strange I’ve traveled to many different countries in the world, but I’ve never had the slightest interest in visiting Turkey. So imagine my surprise that your two videos in Istanbul have been my top two favorites so far. Oliver, you did a wonderful job sharing a vast amount of history in a very interesting and attention holding way. Which is no small feat given my ADD. 😂
Thank you so much for a fabulous return to a city my husband and I found so fascinating thirty years back in time. plus you added so much historically. Marianne, Chicago.
